4 How to start remote access and what is available How to start Remote Access For employees the remote access solution has 2 access points: access.uis.no Eternal Access outside UiS. This access requires your regular username, password and an one-time code received on SMS on every login. iaccess.uis.no Access from within the UiS network. network. Folders and Applications In addition to access to documents on your private storage area (F:) and the common storage area (G:), remote access gives you to access the applications shown in the right columns in the table to the right. NOTE! For remote access to work, a Citri client must be installed on your computer. This will be done automatically during initial login. For Windows XP users, see: ansatt.uis.no/windows7. Under the heading «Computer» (Datamaskin on Norwegian computers) you will find all storage areas, also local ones. In comparison the left column shows which programs that are available at your Windows 7 computer at UiS. 4

5 Log on to remote access Start your web browser. Remote Access works with: Internett Eplorer Mozilla Firefo Opera Google Chrome Enter the following address in the Address bar: access.uis.no and press Enter. Enter your regular username in the field User name. Enter your regular password in the field Password, and click on the button Submit. You will now receive an SMS on your mobile phone with a onetime code. Click the field Response and enter the code you received on your mobile. Click on the button Submit. IMPORTANT! If you log on to remote access internally (iaccess.uis.no) a code is not needed. 5

6 Procedure on first login (or Citri client update) If this is the first time you log on to the remote access (or it's been an update since last login) you have to install/update the Citri client. Do the following: Check the field «I agree» (1). Click the green button Install (2). Click Run (Kjør) in the dialog bo that pops up (3). When the installation is completed you will be notified (4). Click OK in this dialog bo. 6

7 Starting UiS Desktop You will be asked if you will allow the Citri client to access a device on your local computer. This means the hard drive: Click Permit Use* *) If you do not want to get this question the net time you start UiS Desktop, check the bo «Do not ask me» before you click Permit Use. 7

8 Elements of the UiS Desktop Windows When you start UiS Desktop the application window will cover only 95% of your screen. You can drag the frame edges to resize the window or you can click the maimize button to get the window to cover the entire screen. 1. Local computer s desktop. 2. UiS Desktop Window. The Window size in the eample is reduced manually. 3. Tool bar for UiS Desktop. Click on the arrow to epand the toolbar. 4. Start Button for UiS Desktop. Click to access files and programs. 5. Icon for Uis Desktop. Icon on the local task bar (only visible when the university Desktop is started). 8

9 Switching between local computer and UiS Desktop Switching from UiS Desktop to local computer* Click on the arrow (1) to epand the toolbar. Click the button Home (2) on the UiS Desktop Toolbar. *) This applies mainly when the UiS Desktop window is maimized (full-screen). Switching from local computer to UiS Desktop Click the UiS Desktop icon(3) on the local task bar. Maimize the UiS Desktop window Click the button Full-screen (4) on the UiS Desktop Toolbar, or Click the maimize button (5) at the top right corner of the screen. Return to the previous window size Click the button Window (6) on the UiS Desktop Toolbar. 9

10 Starting programs from UiS Desktop This is done in the same way as on your local Windows 7 computer. Click the Start-button (1). Click on the folder containing the program (2). Click on the program icon in the folder (3). NOTE! In the folder «Standardapplikasjoner» you will find the most common applications,such as Microsoft Office etc. In the folder «UiS Applikasjoner» you will find web-applications, such as the SAP-portal etc. 10

11 Starting File Access from UiS Desktop Click the Start-button (1). ClickFile Access (2). Click Read/write access in the dialog bo (3) to give UiS Desktop read / write access to your local hard drives. Windows Eplorer opens (4). Under the heading Computer in the folder tree, you see all the storage areas. 11

12 Eit UiS Desktop This is done in the same way as on your local Windows 7 computer. Click the Start-button (1). Click Log Off (Logg av) (2). You may see the other windows briefly while the UiS Desktop closes. This is perfectly normal. 12

13 Printing in Citri You will have full access to UiS printers through Follow Me. Print as normal and get your printout on a UiS printer (applies only to printers in the Follow Me system). Ordinary printers connected to your PC will function as normal. 13
