1 Alpine Bank values our customers and the need to keep their personal and account information safe. For that reason, we have teamed with Websense and Voltage Security to provide advanced protection using a process called encryption. The process of encrypting ensures that only the sender and the recipient of an can view its contents. Beginning November 4 th, 2013, correspondence from Alpine Bank will be delivered using this secure delivery system IF that contains any personal data or account information. When you receive your first encrypted , you will need to complete a short registration process; any subsequent delivered this way will only require that you enter the password you created during registration. The following pages outline the changes you can expect and what you need to do when you receive an encrypted . Alpine Bank is not increasing the amount of we send, nor are we using this secure delivery system as a marketing strategy. Typically, you will only receive a secure from an Alpine Bank representative when you are expecting it. Daily correspondence not containing any of your personal information will be delivered without requiring a password. Sadly, this has become increasingly important due to the rising number of people who seek to use your personal data and account information for their own gain. Employing this method of delivery is just one tool Alpine Bank uses to reduce the risk of your personal information being intercepted by unauthorized persons. Please do not hesitate to contact one of our Customer Service Representatives at any Alpine Bank location if you have any questions about the coming changes or if you need help with the registration process.

2 Receiving the First Encrypted and Registration: The following instructions are just one example of the process, which will vary by client and service. Just like any other , encrypted will be delivered to the Inbox of the client or service. This could be in a Microsoft Outlook client, Yahoo or G-Mail account, or in a corporate account. Take note of the following key points on this screen: 1. The attachment containing encrypted information will always be message_zdm.html. Attachment options may vary depending on the client/service being used. The contents of the are embedded in the message 2. The Alpine Bank logo will be displayed on any valid encrypted received from Alpine Bank. 3. To view an encrypted from a mobile device forwarding the current to the indicated address (zdm@vsn.voltage.com) is required. A second containing a link will be returned to the Inbox. Voltage is a Websense partner, specializing in security. 4. Information about the encryption process can be found on the alpinebank.com website, at the address shown: 5. Need Help? - will answer questions about the current process. 6. Security Powered by Voltage IBE is just another branding feature, indicating this is a valid from an Alpine Bank representative.

3 (Optional) Virus Scan Dialog: clients and services sometime scan the attachment for viruses and other malware prior to downloading. Take note of the following key points on this dialog: 1. Notice whether a virus is found or not. If one is found, do not continue. Other clients/services may display the message_zdm.html attachment name. If no virus is found, OK can be clicked to proceed Microsoft Windows Operating System Download Dialog. Take note of the following key points on this dialog: 1. Select Open to view the content. (In these instructions, we proceed by taking this option.) 2. Select Save to transfer the contents to the local computer. The standard MS Windows operating system Browse dialog allows for saving the information to location on the local computer. 3. Select Cancel to end the process at this point when no further action is needed.

4 Read Message dialog: Take note of the following key points on this dialog: 1. To open the encrypted message, click the Read Message button to continue. 2. Instructions are included for what to do if the Read Message button is not functioning properly. The must be forwarded to the address. A link will be returned your Inbox. This is not normally required.

5 Registration Form: A one-time registration needs to be completed the first time an encrypted is accessed. * Take note of the following key points on this dialog: 1. Help? - will answer questions about the process. 2. Enter name to be associated with this registration. 3. Any password; though it must contain a minimum of 6 characters, contain UPPER and lower-case alphabetic characters, and include at least one numeric character. 4. Password verification; must be the same as the first password field. 5. Recovery Question is used for resetting a forgotten password. A list of recovery questions is shown on the next page. 6. Answer to recovery question. 7. Password will be required for accessing subsequent encrypted s *Registration is specific to each address. If a recipient s address changes, registration for the new address is required. None of the information entered is shared with other parties.

6 List of Registration Questions: Check Your (Part 1): A message is displayed indicating that a final has been sent to the Inbox. This is to verify the registration process. This message can be closed; no further action is needed on this message dialog.

7 Check Your (Part 2): Sample confirmation sent to the Inbox. Take note of the following key point on this dialog: 1. You must click this link to complete the registration process.

8 Message Content: Take note of the following key points on this dialog: 1. Exit the secure Help? - will answer questions about the current process. 3. address of the original recipient. 4. Sender s address and notices indicating this has been delivered securely. 5. Print this to a local printer. 6. Here s the familiar To, From, CC, BCC, Subject, Timestamp information. 7. The links to view or download attachments included in the encrypted The familiar message body 9. Reply and Forward options: a. Click Reply to respond to the sender of this encrypted . reply is also encrypted. b. Click Reply to All to send a response to everyone listed in the To, CC and BCC fields of the original message. Reply-To-All s are also encrypted, and these recipients may have to complete the registration process. c. Click Forward to relay this message to an address not listed in the original message s To, CC, or BCC fields. Forwarded s are also encrypted, and these recipients may have to complete the registration process.

9 Sample Reply/Forward Message Dialog: Take note of the following key points on this dialog: 1. Send Secure is used to complete the and deliver it message recipients 2. To add recipients to the CC or BCC field, click this link to display these hidden fields. 3. Add and remove file attachments a. The standard operating system Browse dialog is used to find attachments on the local computer to include with this reply. b. The Remove link is used to delete any attachments should not be appended to the Message size display shows how much more data can be appended to this message. 25 megabytes is the maximum. If this maximum is exceeded, multiple reply messages may be necessary. 5. The Copy Me option will send a copy of this reply back to this mailbox, as well as to the intended recipient of the current reply.

10 Viewing Encrypted AFTER Registration is Completed: Take note of these key points on this dialog: 1. If registration has been completed, any subsequent encrypted s that are received only require a password that was created during the registration process. Click Sign In to proceed. 2. If the password is forgotten, a link starts the recovery process. Forgot Your Password Dialog When Forgot my Password is chosen, the Reset Your Password dialog is displayed. Alpine Bank employees do not have access to these passwords, nor can they reset passwords if forgotten. Take note of these key points on this dialog: 1. To recover the password, answer the question, and click Continue to proceed. 2. If the Password Recovery Question is forgotten as well, click the Forgot your answer to begin the password recovery process

Any password; though it must contain a minimum of 6 characters, contain UPPER and lower-case alphabetic characters, and include at least one numeric character. 2. Password verification; must be the same as the first password field. 3. Choose a recovery question. This can be the same question and answer used before. 4. Enter the answer to the new recovery question. Click Continue to proceed.

12 Reset Your Security Question/Answer Message If the answer to the security question has also been forgotten, and the Forgot Your Answer link has been clicked, the following message is displayed. This message can be closed. A link will be sent to the original address.
