What is RMS? Report designer for user defined and event-based reports Report engine for RMS reports and standard reports All design tasks are done in Microsoft Excel 2003 or 2007 RMS reports can be output as Excel, HTML or PDF files Replaces the ERW module for creating custom reports in IGSS Slide Show 2: Report Management System RMS 3
What about ERW? ERW is still fully functional in IGSS 7.0 Reports from earlier versions can be used as is In IGSS.NET (IGSS 8.0), ERW will be discontinued 7T recommends that you start porting your ERW reports to RMS as soon as possible Slide Show 2: Report Management System RMS 4
Key features of RMS Design user defined reports based on any IGSS data source LOG, BCL and HDM values Design event-based reports based on digital start/stop events (batch reports, etc.) Combine the data sources according to client s requirements Apply primary and additional data reductions to the raw data Show values with user defined intervals Filter out irrelevant data with AND, OR, etc. Command line interface Expression builder for complex expressions Slide Show 2: Report Management System RMS 5
RMS data sources and data reductions RMS data reductions and valid combinations Slide Show 2: Report Management System RMS 6
RMS system files, templates and reports Slide Show 2: Report Management System RMS 7
RMS Control Panel RMS help files Access to the main topics for the system designer and the operator Run standard reports The operator can run periodical reports from RMS. Output similar to Data to Excel. Run user defined reports The operator runs RMS reports from here. Design RMS reports The designer creates new RMS templates here. 14 Design your RMS report Excel sheets - Create a sheet for each report - Create a sheet for data definitions Separate data from presentation Design static elements of report - Report header with date/time - Time divisions - Object name and data reduction Report header, incl. start/stop time Object name and data reduction applied Time divisions Slide Show 2: Report Management System RMS 14
Data definition sheet RMS data definitions Include the raw data definitions on a separate sheet Make cell references from the report to the data definition sheet The data definition itself only takes up one cell = RMS data definition Write a zero (0) in the adjacent cells corresponding to the number of report values you need A data definition is always marked as an Excel comment. Place the cursor above the comment to see the data definition. To view/edit properties, right-click and select Properties Slide Show 2: Report Management System RMS 15
Drag and drop objects into report Data Extraction wizard appears Slide Show 2: Report Management System RMS 16

Data series top to bottom Data series left to right Insert text Add text to the report value, for example, the engineering unit. Final grid The values as they will appear in the final report. Include time stamps Will be shown in the cell preceding the value. Limit output to The max. no. of values you want to show in the report. Missing data Skip cell If there is no report value, skip the cell and write zero (0). Fill cell If there is no report value, move up the next value available filling the data series from the anchor point. Slide Show 2: Report Management System RMS 18
Add cell references in Excel Report sheet Data definition sheet 1. On the report sheet, select the cell for the report value. 2. Write the equal sign = 3. Go to the data definition sheet and select the relevant cell. 4. Press ENTER. The reference is inserted and you return to the report sheet. 5. Drag in the bottom right handle to expand the selection to create all the adjacent cell references. 6. Repeat for all objects in report. Slide Show 2: Report Management System RMS 19
