1 CARDINAL RITTER HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR BULLETIN FEBRUARY 2015 Seniors: It s February and that means FAFSA Day is coming up on February 19 from 12-7pm in 206. A staff member from Dave Murray s office is available to help parents and/or seniors complete the FAFSA, which is your college financial aid form. If you are a 21 st Century Scholar, filling out the FAFSA is a requirement to earn your scholarship. Ms. Triplet is coming around to Theology classes this week to hand out an orange folder to you. It is meant to serve as a guide to completing the FAFSA. It provides a list of items needed and you can use the folder to hold all of the paperwork. Please come to the guidance office to talk to either myself or Mrs. Thomas about this financial aid form if you are uncertain about it. 11 Vincennes University Aviation Technology Center Vincennes University Aviation and Logistics, in partnership with The Dallara Indycar Experience, invites students to enjoy three tours for the price of one. Experience how the aviation technology programs, logistics programs, and the racing industry all work together to provide education and career opportunities for students. This program was created for high school juniors and seniors. to make a reservation or for more information. Selective Service Registration If you're 17 or turning 18, you're required to register with Selective Service. It's simple and easy, but it's also really important, so you must do it. Federal law says that all men living in the U.S. must register within a month of their 18th birthday. Registering keeps you eligible for college loans, job training, government jobs, and even driver's license renewals in most states. You can register in person at the post office or just go online at It doesn't matter which way you do it, but you've just got to do it. Ivy Tech Community College The Associate Accelerated Degree Program (ASAP) at Ivy Tech Community College has been nationally recognized for its innovation and success rates. This program allows students to earn an associate degree in just 11 months. Students can visit IvyTech.edu/asap or talk with your guidance counselor if interested. The Aviation Institute of Maintenance The Aviation Institute of Maintenance is the premier school for Aviation Maintenance Technicians and the largest network of aviation maintenance schools in the United States. If you are interested in attending Ivy Tech then transferring to another college to complete a Bachelor s degree, look into applying for the American Honors program. University of Cincinnati The University of Cincinnati has a new Medical Sciences major, which will prepare students for advanced training in medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, and graduate school in biomedical research. Columbus College of Art and Design CCAD is located in Columbus, Ohio and is at the forefront of teaching, technology, and creativity. Learning starts with art and design but continues it continues through skills that cross many others disciplines. Visit to learn more about CCAD events and opportunities. SCHOLARSHIPS Abbott & Fenner Business Consultants Abbott & Fenner are committed to continuing our efforts at helping those who have the desire and ambition to succeed. The winner(s) of this annual scholarship will receive their award within 2 weeks of

The A&F Scholarships are available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any accredited post-secondary institution. Deadline is June 15, Right to Life of Indianapolis The right to Life of Indianapolis offers a $1000 scholarship to seniors with pro-life convictions and a sense of leadership. Seniors must live in Marion County or one of the contiguous counties. The scholarship application, guidelines, and forms are available at and the deadline is April 1, Indiana Association of School Counselors The IASP High School Scholarship is awarded annually to a graduating high school senior who has an interest in pursuing a career in the field of psychology. Eligibility To be considered for this scholarship the candidate must: Be accepted by a college for enrollment Be interested in pursuing a career in the field of psychology Be in good academic standing Selection The application postmark deadline is March 1. Applications will be reviewed by the Scholarship Selection Committee. The committee will consider many factors in reaching their decision, including the completeness of the application; the applicant s experience and interests; the applicant s personal statement and accomplishments; the applicant s letters of recommendation; and the applicant s degree of scholarship. Indiana Broadcasters Association Anyone interested in pursuing a career in broadcasting should fill out the application here at a chance for a scholarship. The deadline is March 1, National Council of Jewish Women Francis E. Mazur Scholarships are awarded to high-school seniors planning to attend an accredited Indiana college or university as a full-time student. Men and women of any religious affiliation may apply. New American Scholarships are awarded to: A.) high school seniors who have arrived in the United States within the last four years and plan to attend an accredited Indiana college or university on a part- or full-time basis. Men and women of any religious affiliation may apply.

14 B.) adults who have arrived in the United States within the last four years and are currently attending an accredited Indiana college or university as a part- or full-time student. Men and women of any religious affiliation may apply. Judith B. Lichtenberg Single Parent Scholarships are awarded to adults who care for dependents and are returning to school for post-high school certificates, associate or bachelor degrees in order to better support themselves and their families. Men and women of any religious affiliation may apply. Jewish Student Scholarships are awarded to high-school seniors who are Jewish and plan to attend an accredited college or university as a full-time student. Mary Fink Merit Scholarship is awarded to one high-school senior who is Jewish and plans to attend an accredited college or university as a full-time student. For more information, visit the guidance office. Church s Chicken Church s Chicken will award a total of 175 $1,000 scholarships to eligible seniors. To be eligible you must attend high school in one of the 17 participating states (Indiana is one of them), be a graduating senior, plan to enroll full time or part time at a college in the school year, be a citizen of the U.S., and have at least a 2.7 GPA. To apply go to application deadline is February 27, PACERS MVP SCHOLARSHIP The Indiana Pacers have once again partnered with Herff Jones to offer a scholarship for an Indiana student. The winner will receive a $5,000 college scholarship, courtesy of Herff Jones, to the accredited school of their choice. For over 90 years, Herff Jones, founded in Indianapolis, has manufactured and distributed educational recognition and achievement products and motivational materials all over the world. Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered: (1) High School Seniors in one of the following Indiana counties: Marion, Boone, Hendricks, Morgan, Johnson, Shelby, Hancock, Madison or Hamilton counties; entrants cannot be a member of its high school junior varsity or varsity basketball team (2) own a minimum GPA of 2.5; (3)must have completed 40 hours of active community service within past year; (4) must be involved in extracurricular activities; and (5) must submit a 250-word essay. Applications are now being accepted through Feb. 28, and can be found at or at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse Guest Relations desk. Bright House Laptop Scholarship Any senior with at least a 2.5 GPA, demonstrates leadership ability, is committed to community service, and fills out an application could qualify to win a free laptop with software and a carrying case. University of Nebraska Lincoln Nebraska s Health Sciences Scholarship identifies academically promising students that have statistically low college-going rates and are interested in a career in the health sciences. If awarded, students could receive up to two years (30 credit hours per year) of their tuition paid at UNL. Top candidates for the

15 Health Sciences Scholarship must successfully articulate a strong desire to work in the health sciences field. For more information go to The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Any senior who plans to attend a four-year college and intends to pursue a career in television or a television-related career can apply for this scholarship. Apply online at nataslgl.org. Application are due by February 16, Honors College at Nebraska University The honors program provides an environment designed for critical inquiry and diverse thought. It gives them access to top faculty and the opportunity to live in a community of honors students in Neihardt Hall. Eligibility Requirements Composite ACT score of at least 30, or a combined SAT score of at least 1340 (Mathematics and Critical Reading Total) Top 10% high school class ranking Demonstrated desire for academic rigor Final Deadline is March 1, University of Southern Indiana The USI Greater Indianapolis Alumni Association is committed to recognizing an area high school student who embodies the philosophy of education as a lifelong process which enables individuals to reach their highest potential and, in the process, enrich their community. Winners will receive a $3,000 scholarship that will be awarded in $750 allotments each fall semester for a maximum of four years of eligibility. The award will be applied by the USI Financial Assistance Office toward the recipient's tuition, fees, and books while attending the University of Southern Indiana and maintaining a cumulative 3.0 or better grade point average. The criteria is: The recipient must be a current-year graduating senior from a high school in one of these counties: Marion, Johnson, Morgan, Hendricks, Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Rush or Shelby. The recipient must have a cumulative 3.25 or better grade point average to be eligible. The recipient must register at USI as a full-time student (minimum of 12 hours per semester). The recipient must maintain a cumulative 3.0 or better grade point average while attending USI. 16 FIDM Interested in fashion, visual arts, graphics, interior design, or entertainment? If so, FIDM is a WASC- and NASAD accredited college offering Bachelor of Arts or Science degree programs as well as Associate of Arts degree programs. FIDM awards seven scholarships to students who demonstrate exceptional talent and interest in fashion design, visual communication, interior design, digital media, fashion merchandising, graphic design or product development. Noblesville Elks Lodge Elks Legacy Award: Eligibility: Applicant must be a high school senior who is a child or grandchild (or step-child, step-grandchild, or legal ward) of a living Elk who joined the Order on or before April 1, The Elk must be a paid-up member through March 31, Great grandchildren are not eligible. Emergency Educational Fund Grants Eligibility: This program provides financial assistance to children of deceased or totally disabled Elks. Grant amounts are only for one year, but students may submit up to three annual renewal applications.
