7 Frequently Asked Questions Q: How does Surelink GPS Vehicle Tracking work? A: The Surelink system uses a combination of GPS and 3G mobile network technology. The GPS network is used to track your vehicle location and the 3G mobile network is used to transmit that location data back to your online tracking dashboard. Q: Will the GPS work in remote areas? A: The GPS tracking works anywhere in the world, however the 3G mobile coverage is limited to mobile network areas. If your vehicle is travelling outside of a mobile network area, the transponder will simply store the data until the vehicle returns within range of the mobile network. Q: How long will the system store data for? A: The Surelink Vehicle Tracking system stores all data for at least 5 years. Q: Why are there ongoing monthly charges? A: The Surelink unit sends the location information back to the online dashboard via the mobile network. It is doing this every 15 seconds. The monthly charge covers this data transfer cost, as well as dashboard maintenance and backup. Q: Can thieves remove the transponder unit from my vehicle? A: If you are concerned about having your vehicle protected against theft, we suggest you purchase a Surelink Wired unit, which is a hard wired unit that can be easily installed in a hidden position on the vehicle.
