HUBBARD, JR. of Baltimore, Md., was elected to the Board of Trustees in He is former president of T. Rowe Price Associates Foundation. A 1959 graduate of Washington and Lee, he received his LLB from Washington and Lee School of Law in While at W&L he was president of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity, played varsity tennis for four years, was a member of the 13 Club and was president of his first year law class. Hubbard joined T. Rowe Price Associates in 1962 as an investment analyst and later became the director of the Research Division. He later became director of the Investment Counsel Division. He was also a member of the board of directors of T. Rowe Price until he retired in Hubbard served on the investment committee of Gilman School in Baltimore. He has been a member of the board of directors and head of the investment committee for St. Ignatius Loyola Academy, which provides a middle school education for inner-city boys, since its founding in He is a former trustee of the Grand Teton Music Festival in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. He is a former member of the Financial Analyst Society, former member of the American Management Association and a former member of the board of trustees of The Bryn Mawr and Calvert Schools in Baltimore. Hubbard is also former chairman of the board of Project Raise that supports high-risk inner city school children. He served as vice chairman of the capital campaign, On the Shoulders of Giants, for the Baltimore area and was a class agent for his undergraduate class from 1987 to He received the Distinguished Alumnus Award in Hubbard and his wife, Penney, have three children, Hadley, Kimberly and Crawford. JOSEPH H. DAVENPORT III, of Lookout Mountain, Tenn., a 1969 graduate of Washington and Lee University, was elected to the Board in He is president of Pointer Management Company and Howard Holdings, Inc. Davenport is a former director of SunTrust Bank of Chattanooga, N.A., and previously served as director of Inbrand Corporation and Coca Cola Bottling of Miami. Currently he serves as trustee of Hunter Museum of American Art and Tennessee Aquarium. Davenport and his wife, Susan have five children, Ward 01, Hollis, Russell, Beth and Allison. J. HAGOOD ELLISON JR. He is a Senior Vice President in the Columbia, S.C., office of Merrill Lynch, Pierce Fenner & Smith, where he heads a team of sixteen associates and manages $1.4 billion in assets for families, corporate retirement plans and foundations. Ellison has a B.A. in political science from W&L and an M.B.A. from the University of South Carolina. At W&L, he was a dorm counselor, president of Pi Kappa Alpha and a representative to the Interfraternity Council. He has been active in the current Capital Campaign, was president of the Palmetto Alumni Chapter and served on the Alumni Board from He served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army from A former adjunct professor in the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, Ellison has been with Merrill Lynch for 29 years. He and his partner have been the top producers for the company in North Carolina and South Carolina for more than 10 years. He received Merrill Lynch s Lifetime Community Achievement 1

2 Award for 2002 and Registered Rep. magazine voted him one of the Top 50 Brokers in the United States for He sits on the boards of the Boy Scouts, Knox School (St. James, N.Y.) and the Columbia Museum of Art. Hagood is married to Cis Kibler Ellison. They live in Columbia and are parents to Zan 03, Adger and Andrew 07. WILLIAM R. GOODELL was elected to the Board in He received his B.A. in political economics from Williams College in 1977 and his J.D. from Washington and Lee in While at W&L, Goodell was an editor of the Washington and Lee Law Review, a representative on the Student Activities Board, a member of Order of the Coif and of Omicron Delta Kappa. He is president of the Robertson Foundation, a philanthropic organization based in New York. He formerly was Chief Administrative Officer at Moore Capital Management, Inc. from and was General Counsel at Tiger Management, LLC, from 1995 to Prior to joining Tiger Management, he was a partner with King & Spalding in Atlanta, practicing corporate finance law. Goodell is a member of the supervisory board of directors of the Jaguar Fund, N.V. and a former member of the board of directors of MaxRe and Crawford & Company, and a former trustee of Oglethorpe University ( ). He currently serves as a director of the Chautauqua Foundation, a trustee of Episcopal High School, and a trustee of the Robertson and Tiger Foundations. He was a member of the W&L Law Council from 1992 to 1999, serving as president during 1997 to Goodell received W&L s Distinguished Young Alumnus Award in His wife, Betsy, is also a graduate of W&L s law school. They reside in Bronxville, N.Y. and have three children, Jackie, Libby and Worth. PETER C. KEEFE is President of Avenir Corporation, a Washington, D.C based investment management firm with $1.2 billion under management. Prior to joining Avenir in 1991, Keefe served as Director of Research for Johnston, Lemon & Co., Inc. His service to W&L includes: Class Agent ; Vice Chairman, W&L Annual Fund ; Chairman, W&L Annual Fund ; Board of Directors, W&L Alumni Association ; Board of Directors, Washington, D.C. Alumni Association ; and Co-Chair for several class reunion committees. More recently, he arranged the Williams Investment Society s visit with Berkshire Hathaway s Warren E. Buffett in February of Professionally, Keefe holds the CFA designation and has served on the Board of Directors of the Washington Society of Investment Analysts and a national committee for WSIA s parent, the CFA Society. He sits on the board of Precision Auto Care, Inc., a publicly-traded company. In the community, he currently serves on the St. Stephen s and St. Agnes School Board of Governors where he will also co-chair a forthcoming capital campaign, and the Board of Trustees of The Men s Home, an Alexandria, Virginia residential facility which provides services to recovering alcoholic men. Keefe is a member of the Life Guard Society of Historic Mount Vernon. He is a trustee of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church Foundation and is a past vestryman there. He is a former director of the Boys and Girls Club of Alexandria. Keefe resides in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife Debbie and four children: Julia, 10; Alex, 9; Tim, 5; and Eliza, 4. He also maintains a second residence on House Mountain outside Lexington. 2

3 MICHAEL H. MONIER was elected to the Board in October 2000 and took office on February 9, He received his B.S. in commerce from Washington and Lee in 1962 and was active in both the baseball and basketball programs while at Washington and Lee. He is President of MHM Associates and a co-founder and Managing Director of Woodhaven Investors, Inc., Landmark Management, Inc. and Samson & Monier Associates, Inc., all of which have been active as independent investment advisors in areas other than the stock market which include venture capital, real estate, leveraged buyouts, cable television, agriculture, and oil and gas. Prior to founding these firms, he was with Citibank from 1962 to 1970 and with United States Trust Company from 1970 to He presently serves on the boards of several private corporations. Mike and his wife, Carolyn, reside in Wilson, Wyoming, and have two daughters and four grandchildren WARREN STEPHENS is a member of W&L s Class of 1979 (BA, Economics) and a 1981 graduate of Wake Forest s business school. Following graduation from Wake Forest, Warren joined the family business, Stephens Inc., as an associate for corporate finance and became President & CEO in Stephens Inc. is a privately held, full-service investment and merchant banking firm founded in Warren and his wife, Harriet Calhoun Stephens, are active in the Little Rock community and the state of Arkansas. Warren is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the Business Advisory Board of Lyon College in Batesville, Arkansas. He was named 2001 Arkansan of the Year by the Arkansas Times and was the recipient of the 2006 Vision Award presented by the Lions World Services for the Blind. Warren is a member of the board and past chairman of the Arkansas Arts Center and is currently chair of the Arkansas Arts Center Foundation. He served as chairman of the $18.5 million capital campaign to renovate the Arkansas Repertory Theatre. Harriet Stephens served as president of the Arts Center s board of directors in She and Warren have been active in the growth and development of Episcopal Collegiate School, which they founded in Little Rock, Arkansas. While at W&L, Warren was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. In addition to his service as a member of the Board of Trustees, Warren has also served W&L as a member of the Alumni Board, a member of the Washington Society and Chair of the Little Rock Area Capital Campaign Committee. Warren and Harriet have three children: Miles, a student at Dartmouth; John, a tudent at the University of Pennsylvania; and Laura, a senior at the Episcopal Collegiate School in Little Rock. SARAH NASH SYLVESTER, recently retired as Vice Chairman of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. s Investment Bank where she was responsible for the firm s client relationships. Prior to these responsibilities, she was the Regional Executive and Co-Head of Investment Banking for 3

4 North America at J.P. Morgan & Co. Over her career at J.P. Morgan & Co., Sarah s focus has been to build and broaden J.P. Morgan s North American client franchise, beginning in the late 1970 s with Midwest client coverage. She developed and led J.P. Morgan s Leveraged Finance business from She initiated and led a business development team from , which then became the Investment Bank s model for client coverage. Since 1992, Sarah has held a variety of senior management positions in Investment Banking. Over the years, her organizations have focused on growing the client franchise and as well as building a strong regional organization for J.P. Morgan. Her personal areas of expertise are strategic advisory, capital raising, and financial restructurings. Since retiring from JPMorgan, Sarah has focused on investments in the biotechnology sector and serves on the board and head of Audit Committee of Merrimack Pharmaceuticals. Her other corporate board positions include Knoll Inc. and Pathmark Stores, Inc. where she is head of the Special Committee of Independent Directors pending the merger with A&P. Sarah s philanthropic leadership responsibilities include her serving as a Trustee for New York-Presbyterian Hospital where Sarah serves on the Executive, Finance and Investment Committees and for Washington and Lee University. She is also a Trustee of The New-York Historical Society, The New York Restoration Project and serves on the Business Leadership Council of CUNY. She grew up in Montreal, Canada and graduated from Vassar College in She began her career in marketing at IBM and then left in January, 1976 to join J.P. Morgan. She is a dual U.S.-Canadian citizen, is married and has two children. Ms. Nash Sylvester is the mother of two children, Alexander N. Appel (Alex) 06 and Elizabeth P. (Lizzy) Appel 08. EMERITUS TRUSTEES EDWARD L. BISHOP III is the president and chief executive officer of Kestrel Technologies, Inc., located in New York City. He was elected to the Board in In 1968, Bishop received bachelor of science degrees in commerce and physics engineering from Washington and Lee. At W&L, he was president of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, a dormitory counselor, and a member of the football and baseball teams. Bishop served six years active duty as a Navy fighter pilot while in Vietnam and received two Distinguished Flying Crosses and 10 Airmedals while completing 164 combat missions. He has spent 16 years reserve flying with the Marine Corps and is a retired colonel. In 1975, he received his MBA in corporate finance from Wharton. Bishop was awarded the W&L Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1991 and was a leading sponsor for the Fraternity Renaissance Program. He served as Phi Gamma Delta House Corporation president from 1978 to 1993 and was awarded the Phi Gamma Delta Distinguished Alumnus Award in Bishop is listed in Who s Who in American Business and Finance, is a trustee of the George C. Marshall Foundation at VMI and a trustee for The Henry S. McNeil Trust in Wilmington, Del. He is also the managing director for the Antietam Investment Group. Bishop has one daughter, Kimberly Ann 92. 4

5 RUPERT H. JOHNSON, JR. was elected to the Board in He is vice chairman and a director of Franklin Resources, Inc., having joined Franklin in He serves as an officer and director of most individual members of the Franklin Group of Funds and the Templeton Group of Funds. He served on the executive committee and as a member of the board of governors of the Investment Company Institute and is a trustee of Santa Clara University. He graduated from Washington and Lee in 1962 and served as an officer with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1962 to Johnson currently serves as a director of the San Francisco Zoological Society. He and his wife, Maryellie, live in Hillsborough, California MATTHEW G. THOMPSON of Richmond, Va., was elected to the Board in He is cofounder and managing director of Thompson, Siegel & Walmsley, an independent investment counsel firm. Thompson earned his B.S. in commerce from Washington and Lee in 1964 and his M.B.A. from the University of Virginia Darden School in While at W&L, he was a member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity. Thompson was Richmond area chairman for the On the Shoulders of Giants capital campaign. He is a former chairman of the board of the Steward School and former board member of the Richmond Ballet, the corporation for Jefferson s Poplar Forest and St. Christopher s School. Thompson currently serves on the boards of the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, the Virginia Foundation of Independent Colleges and the University of Virginia Investment Management Company. He also served on the steering committee of the Community Collaborative for Youth and was co-chair of the Richmond campaign council for the Darden School. Thompson and his wife, Janet, have three children, Matt 84, Carter and Donnan. 5
