13 Operational challenges in the Arctic Distinguish between exploration and operation Drilling when possible during summer (temporary) Production facilities are «stuck» with arctic conditions «Ice Management» Continous surveillance of ice bergs and ice front(moving) Ice breakers, handling of ice bergs Maritime safety Technology, operations and environmental risk Polar Code, Norsok N-003 and EER Economy will depend on Regularity and risk of production stop 13

14 Economical challenges in the Arctic High Capex og Opex will require A large resource base «Coordinated area development» (NPD) Disrupted exploration drilling Icing/ice crowlers/sea ice Offshore offloading Low regularity due to climate conditions The captain on board decides the regularity Loss of production (low regularity) and cost for extra escorting vessels may exceed cost of routing the well stream to shore for processing 14
