4 Welcome to UCAM, Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia! Strategically located in Murcia, Spain, with a Campus of students and around professors, we are expanding worldwide to make one of our main objectives a reality: to promote a human and high quality university education, with representative presence in all continents. UCAM has a friendly and international environment in a wonderful Mediterranean framework. This international vocation of Universidad Católica leads us to collaborations with universities from all corners of the planet in every educational level: research, students and professors exchange and the creation of international undergraduate and master s programs in all specialties. 5 UCAM PROFILE At the international level, it has around 150 renowned strategic partners. UCAM is the first university with a campus in Cuba, where it has established two locations and recently opened an International MBA. Its teaching method is based on a personalized attention with reduced students per classes and a personal tutor for each student. UCAM also offers a modern system of distance teaching. UCAM is located at the Jerónimos Monastery, where there are infrastructures and scientific-professional labs of the best qualities. Everything is for the benefit of the students, who are the core concern of UCAM. The infrastructure has a special focus on sports. UCAM sponsors and takes part on the directive board of 16 official teams. It is the only European university who has a professional Basketball team on the first national league (liga ACB España). It stands out in college sports, with more than 500 college athletes competing in 21 competitive disciplines. UCAM is a Catholic University that loyals to its roots, is committed in being the front-line of the transmission of Faith through education and culture in the catholic values of New Evangelization suggested by John Paul II. UCAM perceives a great diversity of cultures, languages and ways of thinking in class as well as among friends. 7 Campus and Location Santiago De Compostela Bilbao The Campus is located at the Jerónimos Monastery (XVIII century building) with an area of over square meters, gardens, parking, sports facilities and university residence. Together with its baroque church, it is declared as a Historical-Artistic National Monument. Inside the Campus you will find bright and wide classrooms, library, auditoriums, meeting and working office, computers, multimedia and language rooms, labs, television and radio studios, among many other infrastructures. The Campus is 4 km away from the urban core of the city of Murcia, in a special environment that combines peace and tranquility with good connections. But UCAM doesn t end on the Campus borders. Just 5 minutes walking, you will find UCAM Sports Center, located in an outlet shopping center, La Noria. Apart from that, there is a supermarket just a few meters away from UCAM s gate. 26 UCAM UNIVERSIDAD CATÓLICA DE MURCIA CB As part of its firm commitment to sport and education UCAM has added to its draft young players from the U.S. League (NCAA), some young promises of Spanish and European basketball and veterans like Berni Rodriguez (Endesa League winner and silver medallist in Beijing 2008). This mixture of youth, experience and talent defines the long-term plan of UCAM for its basketball team. A plan based on nurturing and developing young players who go from high school to the university and once there, benefit from the balanced mix of top level sport and higher education. 28 The Spanish Economic Sector Although it is currently going through hard times, Spain has a competitive economy. Thanks to a healthy export sector, falling labour costs and tax consolidation it is expected to get back on track to achieve rapid growth and convergence with economies with higher per capita income. Spanish companies have internationalised intensely in recent decades in a process that has become the driver of economic growth. They are world leaders in key sectors such as renewable energies, infrastructure management, high-speed, railways, biotechnology, naval technology, environmental technology and air and space systems, among others. Nowadays you can find Spanish firms established and providing different services anywhere in the world. Many of the world s most important high-speed rail projects, infrastructure management and engineering works are carried out by Spanish enterprises. Attend the Personal Interview On-Line After passing the first step, you will be invited for the interview schedule Personal interview session with admission department 3. On-Line Registration and Application Fee After the interview, the student must register on-line, fill in their personal data, upload academic documentation and pay the inscription fee. UCAM issues an acceptance letter which may be necessary to apply for the visa to enter in Spain. Check the requirements on the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Spain website: 4. Enrollment at UCAM That is it! Finish the enrollment and, if required, you can attend the Preparatory course (Spanish or English Classes) and just wait for the start of classes! All the required documents must be legalized and officially translated to Spanish and then submitted to UCAM. 63
