4 Through increased knowledge, capacity building and cross border cooperation we can better tackle these challenges and adapt to a changing climate
5 NNCC targets and expected results Main targets: Bring together local and regional stakeholders to address common challenges Contribute to EU s climate targets as well as to the national climate policies of the Nordic countries. Offering new job and future perspectives for young people through networking, trainings and education by that leading to more highly educated staff in the project region. Contribute to improved transnational cooperation between Norway, Sweden and Finland. Expected results: At least 240 local and regional policy makers and businesses and 1000 young people to participate in various training courses and events Development of concrete simple tool for municipalities, businesses and schools? reduce energy consumption Increase regionally produced renewable energy Facilitate adaptation to climate change Establish an international meeting place and platform

13 Jokkmokk Winter Conference 2013: 205 participants from around 20 countries in the main conference and about 20 more in the side event seminar From ideas to results: How to develop a Sustainable Energy Action Plan. The conference hosted also the Minister of the Environment from Sweden, Political Advisor for the Minister of the Environment Norway, President of the Sami Parliament in Sweden and a representative from the one in Norway, Counselors from US Embassy and of the Canadian Embassy. 12 Key Note Speakers plus 7 workshop and round-table discussion leaders from 8 countries Participants from 32 partner organizations or companies, 10 universities or colleges, and decision-makers from 11 municipalities within the project region. Around 3000 google hits for JWC 2013; 536 likes in Facebook, on average 315 people following the Blog daily, 107 people Twittering about the conference. Interviews for TV and newspapers (SVT, Kuriren, NSD, Miljömagasinet etc.). Benefits for local companies: meals in many restaurants, travel agency SN Resor, presents to speakers from Jokkmokks Tenn, Sapmi Ren och vilt and Jokkmokksbär, dog sledge with Jokkmokk Mountain Travellers, bookings for hotels, hostels, camping and private accommodation, visits to Ajtte Swedish mountain and Sami museum and to the Historic Market. 19 Climate and Energy Catalogue of Measures For Communities in the North This Catalogue of Measures can be used by all Northern communities. It is a tool to become more future-oriented, competitive and environmentally-friendly. It can be used as a checklist to become clear about your status-quo and as a database for new ideas. To whom is this tool relevant? The Climate and Energy Catalogue of Measures for communities in the North is developed with the project "Northern Network on Climate Change".
