2 Welcome to Antioch University. Antioch University has long and deep roots in Ohio and a national presence through our five campuses. We focus on students who want to attend a university that puts adults first. Whether it is to complete their bachelor s degree, attain a master s or PhD, Antioch University is a preeminent institution for adults to advance their learning and careers through experience and personal attention. It is my privilege to serve as chancellor and work with our dedicated faculty, staff and students in Yellow Springs, Ohio; Keene, New Hampshire; Santa Barbara and Los Angeles, California; and Seattle, Washington. What makes Antioch different? It s our dedication to our mission of providing learnercentered education to empower students with the knowledge and skills to lead meaningful lives and to advance social, economic, and environmental justice. Our faculty, staff and students truly embrace and live by this mission. Our roots and legacy go back to 1852 and the innovative thinking and actions of Horace Mann, founder of Antioch College. Today s Antioch University, which separated from the college in 2007, focuses on adult learners, many of whom work full time or have daytime responsibilities. We feature afternoon, evening and Saturday course offerings. In addition, we offer hybrid programs that blend online and classroom learning. Some are based in Ohio, while others are hosted by one of our five campuses and attract students from across the country. Across all of our campuses, we constantly hear that our commitment to experiential learning has a significant impact on our students. They tell us that Antioch University was transformative; they graduate not only ready for new professional challenges, but feeling empowered and energized with knowledge and meaningful experience they can apply to their lives, and bring to their workplaces and communities. For a unique, experiential education, I encourage you to see what today s Antioch University offers. Visit us online at Antioch.edu or in person. Sincerely, Felice Nudelman, Chancellor

5 One Integrated University Antioch is at an exciting moment in time. At Antioch University we celebrate and support the distinctive characteristics, circumstances, and opportunities of the five campuses, while fostering a sense of shared responsibility on the part of all. Along the journey of becoming One Integrated University we are learning how to leverage university-wide programs that can be offered on the local level to meet regional needs. All of our efforts are enhanced by an integrated communications process in which staff and faculty across the system have common understanding and the ability to share information consistently. This structure helps cultivate informed decision making and support an agile, forward-thinking culture while maintaining the highest standards for our students. As a result, our global network of alumni is marked by their commitment to enlightened leadership, global awareness, and lasting engagement with the concerns of their professions and their communities. Together, students, alumni, faculty and staff form a visionary community that strikes a rare and essential balance between idealism and experience.

7 Antioch University Midwest The power of an Antioch University Midwest education: Preparing students for careers is one thing. Preparing students for careers that do not yet exist is another. Antioch University Midwest (AUM) offers adults interested in furthering their education a range of graduate and undergraduate programs that are responsive to emerging societal needs. Each program emphasizes critical thinking, provides opportunities for collaborative learning, emphasizes cultural diversity and an international perspective, and promotes the integration of life and work experience with academic knowledge. As an innovative intellectual center, AUM educates individuals and organizations who face change, seek lives of meaning, and value personal and professional excellence. AUM is proud to offer experienced education professionals a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, as well as the coursework to qualify for an Ohio Principal s License. This program prepares educational administrators and teachers who are capable of dynamic leadership and innovative change in today s fast-paced school climate. AUM provides its students a classroom-based, experiential approach to leadership that emphasizes understanding reasons behind actions. This approach, combined with practical organization and management skills, makes this a program that fully equips Pre K 12 educators to manage diverse educational environments that foster lifelong learning. The deep and diverse fields of AUM academics empower students to grow comfortable with uncertainty, think critically, and become articulate communicators who are engaged in their surroundings and passionate lifelong learners. These are the fundamental qualities sought by top employers today and tomorrow. More information on Antioch University Midwest can be found online at midwest.antioch.edu

8 Antioch University New England Antioch University New England (AUNE) empowers those who believe that one person can make a difference. Deeply committed to sustainability, social justice and innovative academic excellence, AUNE offers rigorous graduate programs in Education, Environmental Studies, Management, and Psychology. Intertwining theory with practice, these programs value both academic excellence and hands-on experience and provide students an opportunity to apply their classroom learning to solve real-world problems. Nearly five decades of place-based education, environmental studies, and educating for sustainability attests to the fact that AUNE is green to its roots. Serving the academic needs of the California Central Coast communities, AUSB has recently moved to a larger campus in the heart of Santa Barbara s thriving downtown corridor, located within walking distance of the American Riviera s restaurants, shops, and galleries, and close to beautiful beaches and mountains. The Santa Barbara campus offers a bachelor s completion program with concentrations in Applied Psychology, Business Management & Leadership, Child Development & Education, Communication & Media, Entrepreneurship, Environmental Studies, and Liberal Arts; a Master s degree in Education and two teaching credential programs (Multiple Subject & Special Education); a MA degree in Clinical Psychology; and a doctoral degree program in Clinical Psychology (PsyD). 10 Antioch University Seattle Established downtown in 1975, Antioch University Seattle (AUS) offers students rich historical and cultural opportunities in the Pacific Northwest. Initiatives such as Biochar workshops; partnerships with local Native communities; the newly-founded Institute of War Stress Injuries and Social Justice; local government, community organizations, and business collaborations to build roadside rain gardens in Seattle neighborhoods; and the nationallyrecognized Women s Education Program which provides services to homeless women are hallmarks of the Seattle campus. AUS has a deep commitment to sustainability. Not only is it taught in our classes courses in Sustainable Business, Ecopsychology, and an MA in Environment and Community it also manifests in our day-to-day life on campus. AUS was ranked second nationally two years in a row for Recyclemania; we have bike lockers and composting; we committed to being carbon neutral by 2021 and that campus renovations meet the LEED silver standard. The Seattle campus offers degrees in four areas: BA completion, Psychology, Education, and the Center for Creative Change. The BA completion program grants credit for students real world experience, with concentrations in Arts and Literature, Human Development, Leadership and Organization, and more. The School of Education offers master s degrees with Special Education, Library Media, Teacher Preparation, and Environmental & Sustainability endorsements. Psychology programs include a PsyD doctoral program, and master s degrees in Psychology or Counseling that offer various areas of concentration, and even an option for students to design their own program. The innovative Center for Creative Change (C3) crosses traditional program boundaries in research, coursework, and community projects and lead to MA degrees in Environment and Community, Whole Systems Design, or Organizational Development. 11 Antioch Education Abroad Our Antioch Education Abroad (AEA) programs serve Antioch University students and qualified students from over 140 institutions nationally. In 2012, one-third of all students participating in AEA programs came from the top 25 colleges or universities in the U.S., as ranked by U.S. News and World Report. Following over fifty years of tradition and experience, AEA s unique pedagogy and intensive forms of experiential learning based on immersion in the cross-cultural environment are the foundation for AEA s semester-long, thematic programs. AEA programs include Antioch in Germany, Arts and Culture in West Africa, Brazilian Ecosystems, Buddhist Studies in India, Community Development in Cameroon, Comparative Women s and Gender Studies in Europe, Globalization and Community Responses in Argentina, and Japan and Its Buddhist Traditions. At each of these program locations, students engage in studies of specific academic themes contextualized and connected to critical issues of these countries and regions cultural, environmental, and socio-economic landscapes. Our programs are led by AEA faculty and staff and engage local academics and professional experts in their fields of study. We provide extensive opportunities for students to learn from and contribute to local communities, through one-on-one apprenticeships, internships, service learning projects, or field study projects that students design and implement. In our programs, students embark on a transformative learning experience that enhances their potential and purpose as scholars and globally conscious citizens. Our students learn new perspectives, build cross-cultural competency, and make connections that influence them, and their careers, in the years to come. More information on AEA programs is available at antioch.edu/aea
