Call to order/declaration of quorum. The Center Point ISD Board of Trustees met in regular session on Wednesday,, in the CP Meeting Room located on the 2 nd floor of the Administration Building, 215 China Street, Center Point, Texas. President Butler established a quorum and called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m. Mr. Butler stated that a notice of this meeting was posted in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, Texas Government Code Chapter 551. Michael Butler led the prayer. B. Public Forum 2. Audience Participation Jan Salzman, parent of FFA student, addressed the board in open forum to recognize the FFA students for their participation and accomplishments throughout the school year. She also expressed appreciation to Mr. Cortney Hopper, CPHS Agriculture teacher, for his outstanding leadership and hard work in growing the FFA program in Center Point. Guy Bason with Foxworth Gailbraith, addressed the board in open forum to give them an update on the remodel project of the Functional Living Unit. 3. Recognition of Guests President, Michael Butler, asked the student members of the FFA Ag Mechanics Department to introduce themselves. 1. Special Recognition: ESC20 Christmas Card Contest Winner Presentation Superintendent Cody Newcomb, recognized Barrett Blackledge. Barrett is a CP Middle School Student. Barrett s artwork was chosen for the Education Service Center, Region 20 Christmas Card Contest. A certificate from ESC20 will be presented to Barrett. Center Point ISD Board Minutes Page 1 of 6

2 C. Administrative Reports: 1. Principal Reports a. Elementary Mr. Johnson had previously given his written report to the board. A copy of his report is attached to the minutes. a. Secondary Mrs. Castillo had previously given her written report to the board. A copy of her report is attached to the minutes. 2. Executive Director of Student Services Report a. State C-Scope Conference Mr. Turner updated board members about the state C-Scope Conference which will be held in San Antonio on August 2-4, Mr. Turner reported that CPISD submitted 3 proposals for presentations at the C-Scope Conference and all 3 proposals have been accepted. The presenters at the conference will be Janda Castillo; Scott Turner; Kim Bolin; Eve Brunet; Sara Ranzau and Jan Salzman. CPISD will be taking 8 teachers and both principals to the conference. Currently there are 750 districts out of 1030 in the state of Texas who are using C-Scope. Superintendent s Report a. Update on Summer Leadership Institute Registration Mr. Newcomb reminded board members that TASB Summer Leadership Institute registration opens on April 1, He encouraged all board members to attend this conference to obtain the required board training hours. D. Consent Agenda: a. Minutes of previous meetings. b. Expenditures. c. Tax report. d. Comparison of revenue and expenditures to budget. e. Activity accounts report. f. Budget Amendment g. Investment Report Allen Kaiser moved to approve the Consent Agenda minus the expenditure report with Sue Holloway giving the second. Sabyn Park moved to approve the expenditure report minus check numbers ; and with Allen Kaiser giving the second. Jimmy Nibblett moved to approve check number made payable to Guy Bolin with Allen Kaiser giving the second. 1 ABSTAINED GUY BOLIN Allen Kaiser moved to approve check number made payable to Marilyn S. 3 Sabyn Park moved to approve check number made payable to Sherry Rivers with Allen Kaiser giving the second. F. Action Items: 1 ABSTAINED SHERRY RIVERS b. Consider and take possible action to approve the contract for Delinquent Tax Attorney Allen Kaiser made a motion to approve the contract with Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins & Mott, L.L.P. Attorneys at Law to serve as the district s delinquent tax attorney. Sabyn Park gave the second. c. Consider and take possible action to approve Transportation Audit Services. Mr. McLarty presented information to the board about a service through Region 4 to audit our transportation cost reports. The audit service may generate additional transportation income for the district. Jimmy Nibblett made a motion to approve the transportation audit services as presented. Sherry Rivers gave the second. d. Consider and take possible action on acceptance of roof repair bid for the High School and Administration Building. Allen Kaiser made a motion to accept the roof repair bid for the High School and Administration building from Empire Roofing Jimmy Nibblett gave the second. e. Consider and take possible action on acceptance of roof consulting services for the High School and Administration Building Jimmy Nibblett made a motion to approve Armko Industries, Inc. as the consultant for the roof repair project for the High School and Administration building. Sabyn Park gave the second. E. Closed Session: a. Pursuant to Section of the Texas Government Code, deliberations concerning hiring of personnel and renewal of contracts for campus teachers and other certified district staff members. President Butler called the Board into a closed session at 6:25 p.m. to discuss personnel issues. Center Point ISD Board Minutes Page 3 of 6

4 The meeting resumed in open session at 7:00 p.m., with no votes nor decisions being made while in closed session. F. Action Items: a. Personnel: Consider and take possible action on the renewal/non-renewal of contracts for certified personnel for the school year. Sue Holloway made a motion to approve the following 10-month probationary contacts for the school year: 1. Eve Brunet Certified Classroom Teacher 2. Ashley Davis Certified Classroom Teacher 3. Jimmy Nibblett made a motion to approve the following 11-month dual-assignment term contacts for the school year: 1. Lisa L. Avant Certified Classroom Teacher/Coach 2. Jimmy Nibblett moved to adjourn the meeting with Allen Kaiser giving the second.
