5 Welcome note Dear colleagues, The TRR34 research network, financed since 2005 by the German Research Council, welcomes you to its 3 rd International Conference on the Pathophysiology of Staphylococci. TRR34 has focused on molecular, structural, infection and systems biology of staphylococcal diseases over many years in close interaction with a world-wide network of collaborating laboratories. Our conference is meant to disseminate most recent findings and further promote international and interdisciplinary collaboration. Leading international experts will contribute keynote lectures complemented by additional short-term presentations or posters from over 200 abstract submissions. The conference will be held in Tübingen, a vibrant medieval university town in the scenic Southwest of Germany with a long history in molecular research on staphylococci. We expect the conference to represent cutting-edge research and promote our scientific exchange. Prof. Dr. Barbara Bröker (Greifswald/DE) Prof. Dr. Andreas Peschel (Tübingen/DE) 5

60 Innovation. Imagine the possibilities. At Janssen, we have big dreams. We imagine a time when diseases can be treated before people feel sick. When those in need can access life saving medicines, no matter where they are. And when treatment options are so convenient people can spend more time doing what they love. It s about radically challenging the way diseases are thought of, dealt with, prevented and intercepted. Now, and in the future. By collaborating with the brightest minds in every field, we re turning big visions into game-changing solutions. Because patients are waiting. We are Janssen. We collaborate with the world for the health of everyone in it. Learn more at Janssen Vaccines & Prevention B.V. The image depicted contains models and is being used for illustrative purposes only.
