1 Producción in vitro de embriones 313 PRODUCCIÓN IN VITRO DE EMBRIONES BOVINOS Gustavo A Palma Introducción La producción in vitro de embriones es el procedimiento para producir embriones en 3 etapas, la maduración in vitro (MIV) de los ovocitos, la fecundación in vitro (FIV) y el cultivo in vitro (CIV) de los posibles cigotos, Figura 1. El desarrollo in vitro de los ovocitos está íntimamente relacionado con la aptitud que adquieren durante su etapa folicular previa. Por ello, para una mayor comprensión de los eventos que ocurren in vitro y de los factores que los afectan fue desarrollado el capítulo de desarrollo folicular temprano (ver capítulo en este libro).
