2 CZECH-ASIAN FORUM business, cultural and educational exchange 1 st ČSOB Czech-Asian Business Forum was held on March 5, 2007 in Euroagentur Best Western Hotel Kampa. The event was organized under the official patronage of Mr. Martin Říman, Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, Mr. Jaromír Drábek, President of the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic, and Mr. Pavel Bém, Mayor of City of Prague. 122 Czech participants representing leading Czech businesses, large scale as well as SME companies, leaders in their fields visited the Forum and took advantage of the unique opportunity to meet up with 37 foreign business participants coming from numerous Asian countries, and speak personally also with the representatives of Embassies and governmental agencies of the participating Asian states. Main partner of the first round of the Forum was CSOB, one of Czech leading banks. The Forum initiated many interesting projects linking European and Asian businesses. Investment contract representing an investment of CZK 45 millions into Czech-Mongolian gold mining project was signed by 1 st Primossa Corporation and their Mongolian partner at the Forum. Further, the following organizations introduced their programmes directed at international business cooperation between the Czech Republic and Asia: Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic, CzechTrade, CzechInvest, Chamber for CIS countries and ČSOB bank. Specifics and business advantages of their countries were presented by representatives of Embassies of the following states: Armenia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam. Panel discussion aimed at exchanging views and experience on particular projects between the Czech Republic and Asia was held in the beginning of the afternoon session. These people participated at the discussion: Martin Tlapa Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of CR, Pavel Moravec CEO 1 st Primossa Corporation, Michal Bakajsa Director of Export and Structured Trade Finance of ČSOB, Josef Hušek CEO Inekon Group, Marine Tunyan Business Development Manager of Infosys, Masao Nagase Administrative Director of Toyoda Gosei. The panel discussion was moderated by Eva Rybková, CEO of Image Conference & Consulting, organizer of the 1 st CSOB Czech Asian Business Forum. 1 st ČSOB Czech-Asian Business Forum was monitored in details by Czech Television; the report from the event was broadcasted 4 times. Czech Television also devoted several studio entries to the 1 st ČSOB Czech-Asian Business Forum: two of them in Dobré ráno on March 5 (with Jaromír Drábek of the Economic Forum of the CR, Eva Rybková of the organizer and Michal Bakajsa of ČSOB), one in the afternoon edition of Economic News on March 5 (with Martin Tlapa of Ministry of Industry and Trade of CR and Michal Bakajsa of ČSOB), one in Události, komentáře on March 5. Also, whole edition of the talk show Před polednem on March 6 was devoted to the 1 st ČSOB Czech Asian Business Forum, and that with Jaromír Drábek of the Economic Chamber of CR, Josef Hušek of the INEKON Group. The second round of the Czech-Asian Forum is just about to take off, bringing not only floor for business, but for educational and cultural exchange as well.
