1 PRESS RELEASE THE TRIENNIAL OF GLASS AND COSTUME JEWELLERY STARTED WITH AWARDING EXHIBITION MEDALS Jablonec nad Nisou, 9 June 2014 On 5 June 2014, the international committee together with the museum and project partners awarded diplomas and unique medals to 27 glass and costume jewellery companies. The event took place on the occasion of a festive opening of the exhibition TRENDS, DESIGN, PRODUCTION, which was the first exhibition of the International Triennial of Glass and Costume Jewellery JABLONEC More than 70 glass and costume jewellery companies, including Czech representatives of foreign glass producers, were chosen to participate in an outstanding presentation of contemporary Czech glass and costume jewellery. Besides the Czech products, Finnish, German, Austrian, Slovak and Turkish exhibits are also on display. The international judge panel consisted of five members representatives from glass museums in Finland and Italy (Venice) and the Academy in Wroclaw, Poland and pedagogues from Germany and the Czech Republic. The committee awarded 16 exhibited collections with commemorative medals designed by Hana Dýcková, BcA. The medals were custom made at SUPS and VOS (Secondary School of Applied Arts and Vocational College) in Jablonec nad Nisou., the Economic Chamber of the Czech Republic, the Union of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, the Association of the Glass and Ceramic Industry of the Czech Republic and the Jablonec museum also chose their favourites from the exhibits. Altogether 30 medals (two collections gained 2 medals each) were awarded and ceremonially handed over to the representatives of the awardwinning companies. The awarded exhibits were marked by stickers so that visitors could see which collections were praised by members of the jury and the partners. The opening and main exhibition of the project TRENDS, DESIGN, PRODUCTION is open to the public from 7 June to 28 October 2014 in the Museum of Glass and Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou. A festive opening for the public of the International Triennial of Glass and Costume Jewellery JABLONEC 2014 will take place on Sunday 29 June Two more exhibitions will also open: an exhibition of 16 Czech, Polish and Slovak specialised secondary schools and universities titled AND THAT S US in the Gallery N, and an exhibition titled THE GLASS REPUBLIC in the Church of St. Anne which presents the works of 20 glass artists from all

2 regions of the Czech Republic. The entrance to all exhibitions, including the updated permanent museum exposition, is free on the opening day.
