2 WHAT IS THE PRA? We are the Parents of TCMS! We are the resources for the school's administration and staff, thus the name Parent Resource Association. The purpose of the PRA is to assist the school in whatever capacity we can. The PRA helps to facilitate fundraising efforts, grade level programs & projects and Volunteer manpower at any events. Each TCMS family is automatically a member of the PRA; there are no membership fees to join.

3 TCMS is a Charter School We receive less funding from the School District, it is crucial that we support our school. I want you to understand the difference in funding between a charter school and a traditional public school. Not only is the money a charter school receives drastically less than a traditional school, but I was surprised to find out the charter schools are responsible for their buildings, repairs, and maintenance. So, if the air conditioning goes out, we can t call the county to have it fixed, we have to pay for it out of our own budget. For that reason, we rely heavily on generous contributions of our parents.

4 How can you help Support TCMS? 1: VOLUNTEER!!! (Fill out your SERVE Form) 2: Become a PRA Coordinator or a Shadow/ Co-Coordinator/Co-Chairperson! 3: Participate in Team Tornado, this is a Donation to a non-profit organization which can be used as a tax deduction! AND you can be one of the first family s to Purchase the Team Tornado Perk Card!

6 VOLUNTEER HOURS Each Family is REQUIRED to do 10 Volunteer Hours. You can reach your 10 Volunteer Hours very easily! HOW? 1: Volunteer when a Sign Up Genius is ed out. 2: Earn an easy 1 hour by attending a PRA meeting. 3:Volunteer in Café to help with the student s lunches. 4: Volunteer for your child s Club, IE: driving students to an event, making costumes for drama etc. AND

7 5: Any In Kind Donation TCMS requests. Please remember Your In Kind Donations of any item(s) TCMS requests, will go towards your family volunteer hours. Please label your donation with your name, your child's name & homeroom teacher s name, with the amount of time it took to purchase & deliver the item(s) to school. A copy of the In Kind Donation Form will be on the PRA Website thru the TCMS Website, and will be in available in the Front Office. *Charter schools are not allowed to accept monetary donations in lieu of volunteer hours.*
