To view the whole system operation Efficient management of system-wide operation status including virtual environments. Server Operation Management IT Compliance Automation Server operation management requires monitoring to prevent unexpected problems, trouble shooting to efficiently resolve any existing problems, and capacity planning based on long-term information collection. JP1 Server Operation Management features an alarm monitoring capability to detect symptoms of potential or existing problems and a reporting capability that can be used to aid in analysis of the symptoms and to facilitate system tuning. In addition, capacity planning can be simplified by utilizing the data gathered through long term monitoring and report results to help identify potential bottlenecks. Need to improve system-wide availability through stable system operation? Information relating to operating systems, databases, Internet services, applications, and virtual environments on distributed systems running, UNIX, and Linux platforms is collected from a wide range of sources. Centralized management and system-wide analysis of this information ensures stable system operations. Need to monitor servers according to their importance? 6 To view the whole system operation JP1/PFM Need to start operation monitoring immediately? Templates for quick start monitoring Predefined templates provide standard display formats for management and administrative reports. These templates enable effective use of JP1 immediately after installation. User-friendly operation menu (Quick Guide) JP1 provides a wide range of monitoring items that can be selected with one click to create both real time and historical reports. The items include an explanation so that it is easy to choose the appropriate items for monitoring, even without detailed knowledge. Keyword search function to select monitoring items "CPU", "Memory", or "TCP", reducing the need for detailed technical knowledge. The search is also supported on items explanation fields simplifying the task of creating reports or setting alarms. Bulk definition of monitoring agents When multiple servers need to be monitored with resident agents, the configuration of each agent can be time-consuming. JP1 provides the ability to create a bulk definition for multiple agents. For example, collection conditions for operational information defined for one agent can be copied and the data can be distributed to other agents. This capability helps reduce the workload for initial configuration and when additional agents are added, and also helps decrease errors in configuration. Items to be monitored can be located by utilizing relevant keywords like Keywords search Quick guide Reports can be displayed by clicking icons. manager Definition information Definition informa information distribution Distribution istributionn Distribution Distribution Report Monitored servers ( agent) 5

Server Operation Management Need to monitor server operations and failure status? JP1/PFM Intuitively monitoring with the summary monitoring view The status of all servers and monitoring agents is displayed using folders that can be classified by department or systems. This view can be used as the basis for monitoring the entire system in an intuitive manner. Display of folders classified according to departments or systems Visual display of operation statuses of servers and agents systems in virtual environments In virtual environments, both physical and virtual machines can be monitored. Using this feature, problems in virtual environments can be easily detected and virtual environments can be built and/or modified to utilize the resources of the physical machine more efficiently. Minimize the impact of performance management on the network The system is highly configurable, down to what operational data to obtain from which servers at specific times. This provides efficient management of the system by allowing the collection and storage of just the data needed for monitoring and analysis and significantly reducing the load on the components being monitored. tailored to a broad range of needs in a stable monitoring environment The status of servers and processes, along with the service status of monitoring agents is readily accessible. 8 To view the whole system operation Need to analyze collected operation information for future system planning? JP1/PFM Capacity planning without relying on intuition Automatic data tabulation Operational data is automatically collected and stored by minute, hour, day, week, month, and year. Disk usage can be kept constant and consumption of server resources can be reduced by specifying the data retention period. Efficient management of historical operation information Differential backup, at specified intervals, helps to reduce the work load of backing up operational information. This enables efficient storage of large amounts of data simultaneously and also allows backups while monitoring in real time. Correlate and evaluate operational status The changes in system operation status can be correlated for evaluation and comparison with baseline historical data. Utilizing this data helps provide more concrete capacity planning. Reporting functions supporting system resource investment planning Operation status data reports can be used to provide invaluable information for tuning systems or allocating resources. Output of CSV or HTML reports Reports can be output in HTML or CSV formats, allowing them to be easily referenced from places like the company intranet. Evaluation of system s operational status The stability of a system's operation can be accurately determined by utilizing the ability to correlate and evaluate the changes in system operational status with baseline historical data. Quick display of detail data or related data with drilldown capability By enabling drilldown capability prior to generating reports, detailed and/or related data can be displayed by clicking on the appropriate location in a graphical display. This capability helps get detailed data for a specific period, or inspect data from related servers. Effective failure cause analysis by displaying multiple reports Multiple reports previously registered as bookmarks can be displayed in parallel (Tiling display). This capability facilitates effective root cause analysis of failures and better capacity planning. 9 Server Operation Management Server operation monitoring solutions in virtual environments. JP1/PFM Need to maintain stable operations in virtual environments with complex system configurations? In a virtual environment with a complex mix of resources it can be difficult to accurately understand the status of operations. JP1 Server Operation Management provides capabilities to monitor the operations of all systems, including physical servers and virtual machines. These capabilities help to not only detect problem symptoms in virtual environments but also identify physical servers that require action. Based on collected data, the appropriate action can be taken with due consideration of both physical servers and virtual machines. This helps maintain stable, system-wide operations so virtual environments that efficiently utilize the resources of the physical servers can be built. of virtual resources. When JP1 detects a potential problem, it quickly identifies the virtual machine and the physical server involved and displays it on the screen. Root Cause Analysis Analysis of the operation status from both physical servers and virtual machines. This capability aids review and adjustment of resource allocation in virtualized environments. 10 To view the whole system operation Automation Server Operation Information - Analysis IT Compliance Need to introduce system-wide analysis of operational performance information, and use the results to prevent potential future problems? JP1/PFM - Analysis Achieving a stable system based on advanced analysis The operational performance of the entire system can be seen in fine detail and in cross section. Utilizing the analysis functions available, such as bottleneck analysis, system stability can be achieved through proactive management of such potential issues. Operational performance information for analysis Service Internet and other services for which response time can be measured by collection tools (E.g.) HTTP, DNS, DHCP, TCP, IMAP4, POP3, etc. Host Network devices and servers comprising a system (E.g.) Firewalls, load balancers, routers, servers containing monitored platforms, etc. Application Application programs acting as a system (E.g.) Oracle Database, SQL servers, etc. Proactive management Wealth of analysis methods Trend analysis Investigate the projected rise or decline of system performance. These values can be used as a reference for predicting future trends. Metric value forecasting Predict future performance and identify systems and devices with forecasted deterioration in performance. Critical region analysis Predict when performance will deteriorate to critical levels. This information can be used to help prioritize which parts of the system get attention. Metric value ranking Compare performance data from multiple systems/devices being monitored, and assign priorities to the view. This allows identification of areas with relatively high probability of becoming bottlenecks. 11 To view the whole system operation Implementing company-wide information system management on a single console Integrated Console JP1 centrally manages the execution status of business systems on various platforms, as well as a wide range of phenomena (events) occurring in networks, servers, applications and virtual environments. Centralized, visual management of all events with simple handling reduces the management workload. Need to manage system events and logs centrally and efficiently? Automation IT Compliance JP1/IM Event logs in, syslog in UNIX, logs of specific applications, and SNMP traps are presented as JP1 events*. This allows visual monitoring of the status of job executions, network and server operations, and other events. Information is color coded to show the severity level of each event at a glance. Event information can also be output to CSV files that can be used to generate daily event reports. * Information to manage phenomena (events) in this system through JP1 Visual monitoring Identification of failure locations and affected areas tree Automatic response according to rules Rule monitor Large quantities of events and logs Automatic notification Central console Action Centralized management of all events and logs across a system Hardware Servers, storages, network devices Database Oracle, SQL Server Platform, UNIX ERP package User application Network Enterprise system 10

To view the whole system operation Need to monitor system failure events in connection with jobs? JP1/IM Aids proactive management by helping predict areas that may be affected by failures When a failure occurs, the servers and applications associated with it can be identified by simply tracing the tree showing the status. Proactive steps can be taken to prevent chained failures by utilizing this feature to predict the scope of the failure's impact on the affected jobs. The failure status is passed upward through the monitoring tree of the group, showing the affected areas at a glance. Customizable monitoring tree The monitoring tree can be customized by grouping, adding and moving the entities in the monitoring tree via drag and drop. Templates are provided for the monitoring trees and can be grouped according to the system administrator's need (e.g. Job-oriented tree or server-oriented tree). This can be accomplished by selecting a template in line with the desired management purpose. Need to monitor a complex system visually? Visual monitoring of a complex system All systems can be monitored on displays with selected backgrounds and icons. Upon occurrence of a failure, the cause of the failure can be identified by simply drilling down on the icon that indicates the failure. The monitoring tree screen can also be displayed from the corresponding icon. Any image, including maps or parts of an office layout, can be specified, as the background of monitoring screens, or multiple icons can be set overlaid to show the relation between the monitoring targets, providing more intuitive monitoring. Easy identification of failed servers in virtual environments Virtual machines can be displayed on a job group or server group basis. Business areas affected and physical server failures can be quickly identified, even in virtual environments. Need to simply manage a server configuration for monitoring? Enhance configuration management with the GUI display The configuration of controlled servers is difficult to understand in a large system. The larger the system becomes, the higher the operational costs. JP1 provides a GUI to see, set, and manage the configuration of monitored systems, simplifying the management task. Operational checks of monitoring targets and profile setting Administrators can check whether the monitored services are operating normally or not. Profiles can also be set from a remote site to reduce operation workload. Management of configurations in virtual environments trees can be easily created for virtual environments, helping to manage "VM sprawl", improve efficiency, and reduce costs. tree (Job-oriented) tree (Virtual machines can be accommodated) You can quickly find that the Accounting Management is affected. 13 Integrated Console JP1/IM Need to take efficient actions triggered by a range of events in the system? Prompt actions with respect to critical events "Severe events" such as emergency contacts and failure reports require the operator to respond quickly. The Severe Events tab shows only critical events. Using this feature, critical events that might otherwise be overlooked in the overall views can be quickly identified. increases the risk of operators missing important information. To prevent these problems, five filters are provided to control transfer and display of JP1 events. Using these filters, event operation can be tailored to specific needs, such as transferring specific events to a particular manager, or restricting events monitored by each user. Five filtering features Severe event filter Understanding of event status at a glance Severe events can be set to four different status levels: processed, in-process, suspended, and unprocessed. This helps ensure a timely and appropriate response to all severe event notifications. Integration of associated events for prompt action Sets of events can be correlated and a new event issued when the condition is detected. By correlating failure notification events in this manner the time needed to identify the root cause of a problem is greatly reduced. Acquiring event search results to meet particular needs Search for viewing specific events Events can be searched and displayed according to various conditions, such as the date of occurrence, issuer, event identifier, importance, and event processing status. Lists critical events in the Severe Events tab in the event console window. User filter Limits events to be monitored according to the user privilege or job type. View filter Sets conditions for displaying events in the event console window. Multiple view filters can be used according to operational needs. A view filter can be created with a set of options, such as the host, program, and importance. Transfer filter Defines the events to be transferred, and the manager to receive the events. This filter is used to reduce the number of events transferred to a manager. Event acquisition filter Sets filtering conditions for acquiring events from the event service. Targeted search target can be searched and displayed with key words, such as the targeted name, targeted type, event status, and monitoring status. Filtering to reduce the burden of transferring an enormous number of events In large scale systems transferring all event data to all managers would be a significant processing burden. Additionally, dealing with too many events Severe event status Exclusion condition to exclude specific events from monitoring Events can be excluded from monitoring or display by specifying exclusion conditions. This capability can be used together with the five filtering functions to further improve monitoring efficiency. Central console with a view filter 12

IT Compliance To view To protect the whole valuable system IT operation assets Automation Integrated Console IT Compliance Need to have a good guide for failure recovery? Guide feature to support failure recovery Preset actions can be executed when a failure occurs to enable prompt recovery. As the actions associated with the type of failure are selected, actions appropriate to the failure level can be referenced. Guide messages JP1/IM can be edited to meet certain preferences. For instance, the font size or color can be changed to highlight certain information. The guide contains links to useful Web sites, such as the site for downloading the operation manual. Need to automate actions for detected events? Automated actions for automatic operation Event- based automated action With automated actions, commands (e.g. recovery) are executed automatically whenever a specific event is received. Details such as the event ID, message text and attributes, can be specified to ensure the correct response to an event. Job-based automated action Automated action can be defined by the job (monitoring group). In this case, actions are not triggered as a result of the occurrence of an event, but start when a predefined monitoring group's status becomes abnormal. For instance, if a server is running short of resources, the related jobs on every server are suspended to prevent failure propagation. Automated action with monitoring targets (Local action function) Automated actions can be executed locally on problems involving monitoring targets. This capability prevents throughput degradation caused by load concentration on managers. Viewing automated action status Examining the status of an automatic action can be used to determine whether to cancel or re-execute it. Need to efficiently utilize frequently used management tools? Tool Launcher The window listing support products required for system management can be called up from the Tool Launcher. The standard JP1 functions are entered in a tree structured Tool Launcher menu. A custom integrated Tool Launcher menu can be created by registering frequently used systems and applications in the Tool Launcher menu. Obtaining detailed information The management window for the support product relating to a received event can be called up from the event console window, so detailed information can be quickly checked and the source of the event can be identified. Guide feature Server configuration management Web reference 13

To view the whole system operation Automation Rule Management Options IT Compliance Need to initiate automated operations at the onset of an event? JP1/IM - Rule Operation Automated event management Automation of tasks that used to be done manually is now possible. The tasks, like detecting, inspecting, and judging system events, then taking the appropriate corrective action can be set as automated actions to be used when similar conditions are discovered. For example, when certain error conditions are detected and actions that were taken to resolve that error are preserved as rules, those actions can be executed again without manual intervention. Improving automated definitions Execution of actions can be recorded as histories for later reuse in automatic actions. Visualizing failure recovery processes Using a special editor, a set of processes can be defined as a rule via simple drag and drop of icons. Visualization of the operation, which used to be difficult to follow, provides a concise understanding of operations. Functions supporting automation Automate a sequence of operations from detection of an event to actions. Detects an event indicating a potential problem. Inspection Triggered by the detection of an event, calls a set of commands to automatically search for solutions. Judgment Issues a JP1 event to inform the administrator of the completion of inspection and present any required actions. Action Calls a set of commands required to deal with the problem.
