1 Logo Style Guide All uses of the Colleges and Institutes Canada logo must comply with the Identity Style Guide and be approved by Communications and Information Services. Please send a PDF or JPG to the appropriate contact for approval.
2 The Colleges and Institutes Canada Logo After more than 42 years serving and promoting Canada s colleges, the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) has launched a new brand under the name Colleges and Institutes Canada. The new name better reflects the identities of association members at a critical time for post-secondary education. At the forefront of Colleges and Institutes Canada s goals is to ensure people know about college innovations; contributions to communities and employment; as well as the broad support Canada s colleges and institutes enjoy from Canadian industry and partners around the world. The beautiful new Colleges and Institutes Canada logo was designed by Matt Szurnicki, a student of production art at Winnipeg Technical College. His concept was the winner out of more than 180 design submissions by college students from across the country. The stylized maple leaf made of smaller leaves reaching outwards perfectly illustrates Colleges and Institutes Canada s collaborative approach and ambition to champion colleges, institutes and polytechnics in Canada. The new logo is an elegant and powerful symbol of growth and prosperity, while illustrating how partnerships and connections contribute to a stronger future. About the Identity Guide People identify Colleges and Institutes Canada through our name and graphic identity. It is vital to maintain consistent application of this visual identity to reinforce the overall quality of the Association. Unauthorized variations dilute its effectiveness and professional appearance. The following guidelines will help ensure that our identity is used properly and effectively. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Communications and Information Services team. 1
3 Variations Two versions of the logo (horizontal and vertical) have been created for use in different circumstances. The following versions of the Colleges and Institutes Canada logo are available: 2
4 Colour Colleges and Institutes Canada s corporate colour is purple. Gray (75% Black) is used in the text part of the logo. When colour cannot be used, black or white are the only alternate colors, unless approved by Communications and Information Services. Colour Codes Print Colours Web Colours Pantone CMYK rgb Hexadecimal 267 C C:76 M: 97 Y:0 K:0 R: 98 G: 37 B:157 # 62259d Neutral Black C (75%) C:71 M:66 Y: 65 K:72 R:35 G:33 B:33 # Pantone colours (Spot Colors) are created using specific Pantone colour codes. CMYK colours (4 Color Process), are created using screens of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black. RGB colours (Additive Primary Colors) are created using Red, Green, and Blue. Hexadecimal colours (HTML) give you a specific HTML web colour. 3
5 Minimum Clear Space The logo should be displayed with a generous amount of space around it. At a minimum, that space should be equal to, or greater than, half the width of the graphic. This allows for breathing room. Do not allow photos, typography, or other graphic elements to enter the minimum clear space area. These rules apply to both versions of the logo; horizontal and vertical. Proportion and Resizing The logo should never be distorted or altered in any way that will disturb the integrity of the logo as designed. Never redraw, animate, modify, rotate or alter the proportions without permission. Note: When resizing the logo, hold down the Shift key to ensure that the proportions are not distorted. Well Proportioned STRETCHed Horizontally STRETCHed Vertically Resolution Nothing is worse than a pixelated or blurry graphic. Be sure to use the appropriate logo file (JPG, EPS, etc.) to avoid this embarrassing mistake. As a general rule, JPGs are to be used on the web and EPS files are for printing. However, a higher resolution JPG can be used for printing (Example: a higher resolution JPG can be used in a Word document). Please be sure you are using the right file. Note: Never use a version of the logo taken from the web for printing! Good Quality Resolution Low Quality Resolution (Pixelated) 4
