4 Around the City In the City of North Bay, population 54,000, you can enjoy good restaurants, movies, downtown amenities and mall shopping, live theatre, community festivals and events, and a vibrant nightlife. Whether you feel like a night out dancing, listening to live music, or just sitting in a pub playing pool and relaxing, the City has what you are looking for. On campus, the student-run pub and restaurant, The Wall, is a great place to relax after a long school day or to catch some prime entertainment. Getting Around The City of North Bay provides regularly-scheduled bus service to our three local campuses, and all full-time students receive a bus pass for travel from September through April, the cost of which is included in their tuition. Outdoor Activity Our countless lakes, rivers, forests, canoe routes and trail systems provide endless outdoor activity including: camping, swimming, hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, and a variety of other sports. The City is nestled between two beautiful lakes, Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake, presenting limitless water recreation opportunities. We also have a number of golf courses, parks, baseball diamonds and soccer fields throughout the city. And, for the avid jogger, cyclist or in-line skater, the Kate Pace Way and the Kinsmen Trail combine to offer 28 km of multi-use paved trails stretching from one end of the City to the other.

8 Fast Track Programs Early Childhood Education Intensive One Year Get the skills you need to start a rewarding career working with children. This activity-based program is taught using a holistic approach in which the stages of a child s developmental growth as well as cognitive skills and socio-emotional development are emphasized. You will also gain the expertise and abilities necessary to operate an early childhood centre. The program includes an outdoor environmental education component and a full-day kindergarten course. The placement component of this program offers you hands-on, real-world experience. Note: Graduates of any Bachelor of Education or Bachelor of Arts program can complete this hands-on, intensive program in one year. Expand your knowledge and skill-set working in real-world settings. A 210-hour field placement gives you a practical application for your training with the possibility of securing permanent employment. If you have been convicted of an offence under the Criminal Code for which you have not been pardoned, you may be ineligible for field/clinical placements. A yearly police check will be required for placements and can be obtained from the police department upon payment of a fee; all associated costs will be the responsibility of the student. 11 Fast Track Programs Strength and Sport Conditioning Flexible There is an increasing need for certified professionals in strength and sport conditioning. This specialized program, designed for athletes, coaches, or trainers who have experience in sport and fitness, will teach you the skills and techniques needed to help individual athletes or sports teams reach their maximum physical potential. Strength and sport conditioning is athletic training aimed at greater strength, power, speed, agility, coordination and balance. You will learn general exercise principles, nutrition, and sport-specific science, along with practical advanced training in weightlifting, agility, plyometrics, balance, and sprint training for athletes.
