6 SARA Remote Visualization Remote visualization service Provide dedicated visualization resources in SARA data center: Rendercluster and visualization software (i.e. Paraview, VisIt, VTK, VMD, Blender,... Embedded in national e-infrastructure Visualization resource has direct access to storage at SARA Avoid large data transfers over network (esp. Internet) by running visualization applications remotely Pixel output/remote desktop transferred to user, instead of files Application support for parallel rendering
7 The Collaboratorium Emphasis on Local and Remote Collaboration Collaboration is essential: The speed at which any given scientific discipline advances will depend on how well its researchers collaborate with one another, and with technologists, in areas of escience such as databases, workflow management, visualization, and cloud computing technologies.
