3 1 Introduction Welcome to the BrightWork Free Project Management Templates Install Guide. 1.1 Pick your Size At BrightWork we do not follow the one size fits all approach. Our philosophy is to supply a range of Project, Portfolio and Everyday Work Management templates that allow our customers to start with an amount of project management appropriate to the situation at hand. We are also following this philosophy with our freemium offering. You can see where the two free templates are located on our template spectrum. High-level descriptions of both templates are provided below, but we recommend you follow the install steps and create a version of each of them so you can review the real thing at your leisure. 4 1.2 Free Lite The Free Lite template from BrightWork gives you a starter amount of project management for managing a project in a fully contained site. Project management functionality in the Free Lite template includes: Project management dashboards and reporting pages Automatic status report capture workflow Issue escalation for Tasks Project management process exposed through the Quick Launch Works out of the box and can be easily configured for local terminology and use Landing page showing key project information and navigation to other dashboards The Free Lite template includes the following lists and libraries: Project Wiki For adding and maintaining local process guidance Project Statement Single item list to track high level project information Project Tasks SharePoint Project Tasks list including an action to create an issue based upon the Task selected Documents Library of project documents Calendar Key project events calendar, capable of showing calendar views from other lists overlaid My Work Dashboard displaying Tasks and Issues assigned to the person viewing it Work Series of dashboards showing Tasks and Issues Overview, Due Soon, Open, Closed and Unassigned BrightWork Free Templates Install Guide: Introduction Page 4 of 11

5 Project Issues Issues log tracking project issues in a dedicated list Project Status Reports Project status report that automatically populates values (using workflow when initially saved) 1.3 Free Structured The Free Structured template from BrightWork gives you a more structured single project environment that will get you started managing projects with out-of-the-box SharePoint and Microsoft Project Professional today. Download a free trial of Microsoft Project Professional. The Free Structured Template comes with a complementary training webcast which will show you how to deploy, configure and use the template in your organization. Access the training video here. 7 2 Add the WSP Files to Solution Gallery Note: All versions of SharePoint 2010 SP1 are supported. 1. Unzip the downloaded files to a suitable location on your desktop. 2. Login as a Site Collection Administrator to the Site Collection that you want to add the site to. 3. Click Site Actions Site Settings on the site collection home page. 8 4. Click Solutions. 5. Click the Solutions tab. 6. Click Upload Solution. 7. Click Browse and navigate to the location where you unzipped the download file. 8. 10 3 Create Sites 1. Navigate to the location in the site collection where you want to create the site. 2. Click Site Actions New Site. 3. Select the Free BrightWork Template that you want to use. 4. Give the site a name a Title and a URL Name. 5. Click More Options. 6. Select the appropriate Navigation and Navigation Inheritance options for your environment..
