2 Join us for the West Virginia Academy of Eye Physicians & Surgeons (WVAEPS) 68th Annual Meeting at The Stonewall Resort. This year s program is expanded to include a comprehensive program of education for your entire eye physician office: physicians, technicians, and practice administrators. Bring your staff and learn the latest advances and best practices to enhance your care to your patients. In addition to educational offerings, this year s program is designed to allow you to take in the best of the resort while networking with colleagues and friends. Upon your arrival, make plans to enjoy a round of golf and attend our welcoming reception. All participants and exhibitors and their guests are encouraged to attend the reception. Golf ~ Tee times are available between 11 am - 12 pm on Friday, May 15. Named as one of America s 100 Greatest Public Courses, the Arnold Palmer-designed golf course strikes the balance between difficulty and playability. The conference rate of $89.00 per person includes cart, green fees, and time at the driving range. Call the Pro Shop at to reserve your tee time. Fees will be applied to your room charge. Friday Welcome Reception ~ Meet out on the Maple Patio from 7:00 pm -10:00 pm for a beautiful sunset view of the lake. A cash bar is available. This event is included in your registration fee. Our magician extraordinaire John Slicer will be entertaining us with his casual sleight or hand and magic throughout the evening. While John is mingling with us during the night, be sure to invite him into your small groups for a few minutes of eye-popping fun!! Saturday Little Sorrel Boat Ride and Dinner ~ After a day of presentations, bring the family and relax aboard the Little Sorrel touring boat from 6 pm - 7 pm. There will be hors d oeuvres and beverages. After the cruise, there will be a dinner gettogether on the Terrace Patio. Even if you choose not to enjoy the cruise, please meet us on the Terrace Patio for dinner at 7:00 pm. Space is limited on The Little Sorrel so please indicate on the registration form if you plan to set sail and how many are in your party. First come basis. This is included in your registration fee.
3 ROOM RESERVATIONS ARE DUE BY APRIL 30, 2015 Call or Please indicate you are with WVAEPS to get the special group rate Single Room Rate: $220; Double Room Rate: $155 per person per night. This rate includes two meals per day starting with dinner on the night of arrival and ending with lunch the day of departure, morning and afternoon break food, and selected resort activities. Room fees cover accommodations in a deluxe guest room with lake, mountain, or golf course views, admission to the park, internet access, indoor/outdoor pool, sauna, steam rooms and fitness equipment. Check in time is 4:00 pm and check out time is 11:00 am.

8 OBJECTIVES After this course, participants should be able to: Explain why ICD-10 is being implemented and when Describe the difference between ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes Understand the terminology used in ICD-10 Develop a practice strategy for preparedness Assess EHR documentation and codling for compliance Develop a plan to incorporate best practices by all staff members Understand the areas of scrutiny in the EHR by payers and regulators Describe the model used for most IOL calculation formulas Understand the leading sources of errors in IOL calculations Identify conjunctival tumors Discuss the latest evaluations and treatment of conjunctival tumors Identify methods to use visual fields and optic nerve examination and imaging to evaluate progression of glaucoma Discuss the newer cancer medications on the market and their ocular side effects Discuss options for the treatment of pupillary block angle closure peripheral iridotomy vs lens extraction and which results in better outcomes Understand the clinical spectrum of ocular graft vs host disease and the approach to its management Describe the different ways in which in impact of intraocular pressure findings can be used to imply the risk of occurrence and progression of glaucoma including mean IOP, variability of IOP, maximum IOP Discuss the devices available to secure the lens capsule in cataract surgery Describe different surgical techniques for managing zonulopathy in cataract surgery Discuss various modalities of radiotherapy, its basic vocabulary, clinical manifestations of radiation toxicity to the eye and basic principles of management Discuss the important consideration in the application of IOL formulas in challenging clinical situations Identify the factors to consider when choosing the appropriate level of IOL toricity Describe the techniques for maximizing toric IOL alignment Identify the most frequent types of malpractice lawsuits related to diagnostic error in ophthalmology Clarify the elements of a test/referral-management system Implement an appointment tracking system
