3 HIRE GUIDE Hire Guide To hire equipment, we will require some form of positive identification i.e. Driving Licence, Bankers Card, or if a Company, a firm s official order. A deposit either cash or credit card. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILTY OF THE HIRER TO INSURE THE HIRE EQUIPMENT! Hire periods are quoted in the booklet. All transport charges are quoted on an each way basis. Half day hire rates will only be applicable with hire equipment that is collected. If Altis deliver equipment, the minimum hire is one day. It is essential for someone to be on site that is authorised to sign for the equipment delivered and to pay the deposit. Hired equipment will continue to be charged for, until the agreement is cancelled. This can be achieved by a phone call to our office when an OFF HIRE NUMBER should be requested to record the date and time of conversation or when the equipment is returned to Altis. Fuel is not supplied. There is no guarantee that there will be a large quantity of fuel in the equipment. It is the hirer s responsibility to find out the type of fuel required for the equipment before using the equipment. It is advisable to book equipment required at least one week before it is needed. Any defect in hired equipment should be reported immediately, and it must not to be used again until the customer has spoken to a member of staff at Altis. A cleaning charge will be made on any machine returned in an unreasonable condition. Minimum Cleaning Charge Conditions of hire are printed on the reverse of the hire agreement and should be read. Safety equipment and instructions will be issued in accordance with our hire contract. All accessories, (Steels, Blades, Abrasives etc. and re-sharpening charges) will be charged extra to the hire cost on a sale or return basis. Long term hire rates are available on some items prices on application. Modes of Operation: Where not obvious the following modes of operation are indicated within the description of the item in the booklet: o Stand: the equipment is free standing typically on the floor o Hand held or Hand Operated: the equipment is typically held in the hand to operate it. o Bench or Bench Type: the equipment needs a bench or support to operate it (not provided). All hire equipment marked with one star * in the Hire Price List will be supplied with consumables items on a sale or return basis. All hire equipment marked with two stars ** in the Hire Price List will be subject to a blade/point re-sharpening charge. All hire equipment marked with three stars *** in the Hire Price List will be supplied with consumable items on sale only basis. 5 Delivery and Collection Service Altis offer a delivery and collection service which is calculated on the destination of the delivery. PLEASE NOTE: Whilst every effort will be made to fulfil customers requirements, delivery of certain items cannot be guaranteed before 10.00am. Customers requiring items before this time are advised to obtain them the previous day. Half day hire rates will only be applicable with hire equipment that is collected. 36 SAFETY & INSURANCE INFORMATION Safety & Insurance Information CODE OF CONDUCT Altis are members of the Hire Association of Europe (HAE) and fully comply with HAE s Code of Conduct and safety measures programme which includes the servicing and testing of equipment before it is hired out, demonstrating the equipment if required and offering safety advice to customers. A copy of the full Code of Conduct is available to customers on request. YOUR SAFETY Safety statements will be made at intervals after each section defining what additional safety precautions should be used when hiring the equipment. Written instructions on the correct and safe use of equipment are issued with items hired and we strongly recommend that these are read by the user of the hired item. Verbal instructions will also be given if requested. The use of an Residual Current Device (RCD) circuit breaker is strongly recommended when using any item of 230v supply. A safety pack containing gloves, goggles, and earplugs will be offered with each hire at a cost of VAT. DEPOSITS All new customers will be required to leave a deposit based on the value of the hire equipment; this can either be on a credit card or a cash deposit. INSURANCE Customers are strongly urged to insure against loss or damage of hired equipment. Items not returned will be charged for at full cost of replacement and hire will continue until settlement has been made. It is the hirer s responsibility to insure equipment against damage or loss. Altis are able to remove your responsibility for loss of larger hire equipment typically in excess of 3,000 purchase value. DIESEL FUEL - USAGE Diesel fuel used with hire equipment will be charged at typically 0.80 per litre, although this will vary in accordance with fuel prices at the point the equipment is returned.
