2 Harrison School District Two Curriculum Map Pacing Guide The curriculum map is a paced guide to the curriculum. It is a planning tool to help align the curriculum to assessment and instruction and details the skills and concepts being taught over the course of the instructional year. The maps list the Evidence Outcomes of student learning based on Colorado Academic Standards. are what students have to learn at a proficiency level at each grade level. are the content (what students should know), processes, and skills (what students should be able to do) that lead to proficiency of. The possible lesson objectives have been prioritized with the most important objectives in red, the next most important in blue, and the least critical objectives in black (see example). The curriculum map uses a labeling system that corresponds to the one used by the State to identify State Standards. The numbering system for all HSD2 curriculum maps are an abridged reference to the standards: The Colorado State Achievement Standards 1.1.a Use correct vocal and instrumental techniques when singing and playing instruments. 2.2.a.ii Determine the main idea of a text and explain how it is supported by key details; summarize the text. (CCSS: RI.4.2) Define and discuss correct instrumental and vocal technique. Practice correct vocal and instrumental techniques when singing and playing instruments. Use correct vocal and instrumental techniques when singing and playing instruments. Determine the main idea of a text Explain how key details support the main idea Summarize informational text Identify the author s purpose Express the main idea Summarize important sub-topics/details The District-wide use of these curriculum maps provides all Harrison students an equal opportunity to learn the same viable content. 4 Harrison School District Two Middle School Graphic Arts & Technology Students can: 2.1.a Publish employing a variety of digital environments and media. 2.1.b Communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences using a variety of media and formats. 3.1.a Evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on the appropriateness to specific tasks. 5.1.a Advocate and practice safe, legal, and responsible use of information and technology. QUARTER 1 & 3 Describe appropriate and responsible use of Internet communication tools. Produce or publish a product in digital format (e.g., a presentation or document). Use a variety of digital media (e.g., printed, interactive white board, digital projector) to publish a product. Respond and participate in digital critique discussion. Utilize a Google Docs account. Publish a prepared presentation in a digital format for an intended audience. Produce digital responses to design and communicate problems and solutions using an appropriate program for the project. Identify and use various search engines/online resources and evaluate the reliability of information. Select appropriate search terms to narrow search. Demonstrate the correct usage of fair use and copyright regulations. Comprehend the principles of District Acceptable Use policy. Apply correct citation methods to provide proper credit to sources. 6.1.a Understand and use technology systems. Demonstrate ability to turn on and log-in to computer. Interface/communicate with operating system and network (access server). Apply efficient file management skills by opening, saving and re-accessing documents. Identify input/output of a variety of digital media.
