1 Increasing network demands requires a bandwidth controller that goes the distance. The offers a scalable platform with future growth in mind. Multimedia Access Videoconferencing Backup/Overflow The family of bandwidth-ondemand controllers provides high-speed access for multimedia applications and offers the scalability needed to meet future networking application requirements. These controllers support dial-up bandwidth-on-demand at speeds ranging from 56 Kbps to 8 Mbps over Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN), T1, FT1, E1, and G.703 lines. Each of the models ( 3000, 6000, and 6000 with Mega Software) supports a dynamic mix of dial-up services and inverse multiplexing protocols, including Lucent Inverse Multiplexing (LIM) and bandwidth-on-demand interoperability group (BONDING). Through the Lucent patented dynamic bandwidth allocation, the automatically adjusts line usage as needed and reduces the cost of monthly network services. All of the models are ideally suited for network applications such as videoconferencing, multimedia, telemedicine, distance learning, disaster recovery, private network backup, and network overflow. By adding the remote networking upgrade, a network manager can turn the into a full-featured WAN access switch capable of supporting dial-up users. The is certified for use in more than 30 countries and gives companies a global connectivity solution that also acts as a platform for future network growth. Networking Solutions for High Bandwidth Network Requirements Scalable design provides a migration path to more advanced functionality Enterprises can handle incremental growth by adding ports and access modules, which provide an easy and economical upgrade path. Users determine the functionality they require, select the proper modules, and configure their systems to meet demand for voice, video, or data. Bandwidth sessions range from 56 Kbps to 8 Mbps. Dynamic bandwidth allocation permits adding or removing lines during ongoing sessions, so reduce costs by users paying only for bandwidth used. supports conference scheduling software developed by third parties. Backup and overflow The controller automatically detects inadequate bandwidth and adds channels by transparently aggregating more bandwidth, averting problems that can affect system performance. Extra channels are removed when overflow pressures subside. This function operates independently or can be controlled by DTE using control-lead dialing or V.25bis dialing. Disaster recovery capabilities are handled in the same manner, immediately dialing up substitute bandwidth when a line fails. The extra bandwidth is removed when leased lines are restored. Backup and Overflow Video Video Digital Dial-up Services Router Dedicated Data Line Router The controller automatically detects inadequate line bandwidth and adds lines by transparently aggregating more channels, averting problems that can affect system performance. Extra lines are removed when overflow pressures subside. If the dedicated link drops, the dials additional circuits to keep the application connected. 1ACCUNET is a trademark of AT&T Corp.
4 Distance learning and telemedicine By setting up a point-to-point connection, medical professionals can perform real-time consultation and analysis. A doctor in one city can operate on a patient while a consultant in a different city can view and discuss the procedure concurrently. Likewise, colleges can conduct point-to-multipoint learning by sharing a classroom session with students located on other campuses. Students at any location can view the presentation and have a direct dialogue with the instructor. DAX feature and Drop-and-Insert DAX allows cross-connection between any switched DSO on any T1 line of the This expands the current drop-and-insert function to a flexible tandem routing function between public and private switched networks. Excess capacity on a public switch T1 line can now be fully utilized for access between dedicated and switched circuts for voice services. Using this feature, a single T1 access connection carries both voice and data, providing significant savings over separate access lines. s LAN/UTP Port LAN/UTP Status Lights TX LNK DPLX COL 100BT LAN UTP RX WAN 1 WAN 2 WAN 3 WAN 4 WAN 5 WAN 6 CONTROL SERIAL T1 Lines Control Port Unused Ports V.35 Serial WAN Power 6000 with Mega Software* Console 2-port LIM Module 10/100Base-T Connection to LAN MCIA Slot for FLASH Custom Slot for DRAM V.35 Serial WAN Alarm Relay T1/E1/PRI to WAN or PBX * Mega Software is an option that is added to a 6000 (MBX-6KT1-4). This software allows a 6000 to aggregate up to four (4) T1/E1/PRI circuits for MPEG II and high speed file transfer applications.
5 Remote Networking Upgrade The platform can be upgraded to a full-featured WAN access switch capable of supporting remote access, telecommuting, and Internet access. Through a simple software upgrade and the addition of network modules, companies can support as many as 120 analog and/or digital dial-up users. The upgrade allows the to establish seamless connections to backbone network services over a variety of interfaces such as Ethernet, frame relay over V.35, and T1/PRI and BRI. It also offers robust support for multiprotocol routing and bridging (RIP2 and OSPF, TCP/IP and IPX, PPP). Lucent digital modem technology provides a scalable solution for adding callers to a company s remote network. Dial-up sessions are automatically added and dropped for transparent client-server computing across the network, and Lucent s patented dynamic bandwidth allocation (MP, MP+) aggregates lines and lowers network service fees. All and products support comprehensive security for ironclad remote networking, including an integrated firewall and the industry s most full-featured userauthentication systems, including RADIUS, Password Authentication Protocol (PAP), Challenge Authentication Protocol (CHAP), TACACs, TACACS+, and token card security).
