2 KEur Enhancing Individual Strengths to become a Globally Trusted Corporate Group 2016 NEW YEAR MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT MURAKAMI JANUARY 4, 2016 KAWASAKI KISEN KAISHA, LTD To everyone of the K Line Group, I extend to you my sincerest wishes for a Happy New Year. As we enter 2016, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the past year and offer a look forward to the challenges ahead. Although 2015 opened amid concerns of a return by the Greece-sparked European economic crisis, the economies of the developed countries actually remained relatively firm. Indeed, Europe rebounded on the back of falling oil prices, a weak Euro, and a policy of quantitative easing. The United States also saw its consumer spending and housing market gain stability as its employment picture improved. On the other hand, poor economic performance in emerging markets acted as a drag on growth. There was a clear economic slowdown in China, which is attempting to deal with overinvestment and surplus capacity, and falling resources prices cast a shadow on the economies of Brazil and Russia. The result was a murky picture for the world economy as a whole. Looking at the international framework, there were conspicuous instances in which countries reached out to each other. A general agreement was reached for the Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic Partnership Agreement (TPP) after more than five years of negotiation, and the United States and Cuba took steps to renew diplomatic ties and normalize relations for the first time in 54 years. At the same time, however, there were heightened geopolitical concerns as extremist organizations hostile to the international community stepped up their activities throughout a broad area. Because the K Line Group plays an important role in global logistics, we cannot ignore such international economic trends or circumstances. Our medium-term management plan, K Line Value for our Next Century, which we launched in April of last year, sets a course for raising our corporate value. Its aim is to secure financial stability that cannot be shaken, even in the midst of the environmental changes described above, and then to strengthen our growth potential in response to expanding and diversifying international logistics demand. During the first half of this fiscal year, we benefitted from falling fuel oil prices and a continually weakening yen. At the same time, however we were exposed to tough market conditions, particularly in our Containership and Dry Bulk businesses, as the cargo movement fell below expectations while supply pressure on shipping capacity was intensified. Nonetheless, a number of our businesses showed steady performance. They included our Car Carrier Business, which, in addition to the movement of completed cars, is advancing initiatives aimed at heavy construction equipment and rail cars with the use of the latest large energy-saving vessels; our Energy Transportation Business centered on LNG carriers, large LPG carriers, and tankers, which provides stable income based on medium- and long-term contracts; and our Logistics Business, which is expanding its operations in various regions. Accordingly, our overall earnings exceeded initial estimations despite being influenced by fluctuations in foreign exchange-related profit and loss. However, given stagnating resources demand in China and other regions as well as rising geopolitical risks, the business environment continues to be uncertain in the second half. We anticipate that some more time will be required before we see full-scale market recovery. In response to this changing business environment, we are taking steady steps forward in line with the scenarios detailed in our mediumterm management plan. We will formulate and execute streamlining measures with agility. And we will stay on schedule with strategic investment aimed at growth in energy transportation and other sectors, as well as in investment to expand our base for stable earnings with the introduction of the latest large energysaving vessels. As we respond flexibly to future changes in the environment, we will remain focused on our basic policy and committed to the steady promotion of our plan. Any effort to drive business forward toward a common goal requires the foundation provided by a strong organization. Because such an organization is ultimately comprised of individuals, when those individuals enhance their capabilities and improve the quality of their work, they help the organization demonstrate its full power. Above all, having the ability to gather great amounts of information, arrange it, and use it to anticipate future events is a vital part of business promotion, even in everyday operations. Although the K Line Group has always emphasized human resources development, I would like to see us put even more effort into the development of individuals who possess knowledge and expertise. I hope that each one of us will view the New Year as an opportunity to take stock of our own abilities and improve them. The year 2015 marked a new start for the K Line Group. This start was based on a reexamination of our corporate philosophy and vision and renewed verification of what it is we want to be. We formulated our medium-term management plan as an action plan for the actual application of this philosophy and vision, and we are taking steps to improve our corporate culture and climate through the K -no-kaze ( K Line Wind) programme. Additionally, we prepared a longterm policy for environmental conservation called Environmental Vision 2050 to fulfill our responsibility to minimize our impact on the global environment. Early next month, DRIVE GREEN PROJECT, construction of a car carrier equipped with state-of-the-art technologies and designed to achieve the highest level of energy savings and environment-friendliness, is scheduled to be completed. I believe this new vessel will become symbolic of our ideal of contributing to affluent living as a globally trusted corporate group. The safe operation of this vessel and compliance with the law are of paramount importance in our effort to truly be a globally trusted corporate group. In addition to being our responsibility to society, safe operation forms the foundation upon which we continually gain our customers trust. It also has important environmental aspects. At the same time, all of our corporate activities are built on compliance with laws and social norms. I hope that everyone will constantly bear in mind the fact that any failure of compliance can upset the foundation of our group s business. Additionally, we are implementing measures to prevent or reduce cases of long working hours. Through a combination of company-led initiatives and improvements in work quality and productivity by individual employees, I want to reduce working hours and tie the benefits to a better worklife balance. Over the course of 2016, we will continue to execute our medium-term management plan and other important business plans and activities. Let us move forward steadily, unwaveringly, and with full attention to our goals. In closing, as we celebrate the New Year, I wish all of you, the members of the K Line Group, and your families good health and prosperity, and pray that all of our ships will enjoy safe passage throughout Eizo Murakami, President & CEO, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd. New LNG Carrier for Chubu Electric Named BISHU MARU DECEMBER 1, 2015 Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd. ( K Line) held a naming ceremony for the newly-built liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier ( * 1) for Chubu Electric Power Co. Inc. at Sakaide Shipyard of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. (KHI) today. The new vessel was given her name BISHU MARU by President & Director Satoru Katsuno of Chubu Electric, the Charterer. BISHU MARU comes from the name of an old district in western Aichi Prefecture named Owari, where an LNG receiving terminal of Chubu Electric is located. In addition, she is the second generation vessel with this name, which has been handed down from an earlier LNG carrier, the first to have been managed by a shipping company in Japan, which was also managed by K Line and completed at the Sakaide Shipyard of KHI in 1983 as well. BISHU MARU will mainly serve on the transportation route between Australia and Japan after delivery, and is expected to contribute to stable transportation of energy in Japan which her predecessor faithfully carried out for many years. K Line is dedicated to contribute in meeting the expanding needs of LNG transportation with a view to simultaneously developing a more stable earnings structure as a part of our medium-term management plan K Line Value for our Next Century that was introduced earlier this year. On 25th November 2015, the ship management agreement for a new building vessel was executed. The vessel will be owned by Trinity LNG Transport S.A. (a joint venture comprising K Line, Mitsui, and Imabari) and 25 th Anniversary for Ibesco in Aarhus On January 13th, 2016 we had a visit from Account Manager Mr. Jesper Skatka from the Port of Aarhus. He brought with him a nice cake to mark the 25 th Anniversary of the direct K Line feeder service to Aarhus. We quote from the magazine Port of Aarhus issue from December 1990: The spectacular Japanese shipping Company K Line, represented by Scan-Shipping A/S as agent, is the founder of the new weekly feeder service calling Aarhus every Monday. The first call is set to be chartered for a maximum of 25 years to Mitsui, for its Cameron LNG Export Project in the U.S.A. The vessel is scheduled to be delivered in late 2020 from one of Imabari s shipyards in Japan. Kaoru Tanaka, Commercial Operator, K Line LNG Shipping (UK) Ltd. The feeder service has not only the ability to transport cargo to and from K Line s worldwide ocean vessels, but will also operate by itself and deliver containers to intra European destinations. The service at that time was actually called the Nosco service which later became the Ibesco service as we know it today. It s a very special feeling to CAMERON LNG Cameron LNG is a liquefied natural gas terminal situated on an industrial-zoned site along the Calcasieu Channel in Hackberry, Louisiana, USA. It is located 18 miles from the Gulf of Mexico and within 35 miles of five major interstate pipelines. The terminal is connected to these pipelines via the 36-mile Cameron Interstate Pipeline. Construction on the Cameron LNG regasification terminal started in August 2005 and commercial operations began in July The LNG receipt terminal has two marine berths capable handle a service established by the Company which has been ongoing since before I was even born. Unfortunately I was not around to watch the shipments grow over the years, but I will of accommodating Q-Flex sized LNG ships, three LNG storage tanks of 480,000 cubic meters, and vaporization capability for regasification services of 1.5 Bcf per day. Cameron LNG has access to a deep ship channel close to the shoreline and is far removed from highly populated residential areas. In 2014, Cameron LNG began construction on new facilities to liquefy natural gas and export to the world market. Cameron will have bi-directional capabilities to export or import LNG based on changing market conditions. do my very best to make sure that the Ibesco service and the cargo onboard will grow even more. 4 KEur Satellite view of the Suez Canal, NASA Image K Line CCG visit to Maserati Headquarters MODENA, ITALY On January 20th a meeting took place at Maserati s headguarters in Modena. Together with Carlo Besozzi, Managing Director of K Line Italia, Mr. Goro Kitamura, Director of K Line s European Car Carrier Department in Hamburg kindly attended the meeting. The aim of the meeting was focused on the structure of the service for 2016, and the projected Maserati forecast for the next two years. Particular attention was paid to the new SUV model named Levante, which is to be launched during the middle of 2016, and in which Maserati puts high expectations on the sale results.the new cars will be assembled in the factory in Grugliasco (Turin). During 2015 about 2500 cars were loaded with K Line from Zeebrugge, of which 90% were destined for the US market and 10% to the Taiwan market. Dario Sasso, K Line Italia S.r.l. T his could make a good topic for an ongoing discussion, but I must confess that I have not exactly conducted any serious research into this question so far. Egyptian ports and owners representative with regard to Suez Canal transits. The letter concludes with the words... and look forward to a long association with you. and in early 1979 the company joined FEFC as an Egyptian Flag carrier, running multi-purpose vessels in a liner service between Far East and Egyptian ports. Once EISC joined FEFC, the business relations between K Line and EISC started to grow. Since the early 80 s and until the suspension of EISC s operation of its own fleet, K Line agencies in all Far East ports were acting as EISC sole agents and with their support, expertise and help EISC was A weighty matter to consider From 1st July 2016 it will be a violation of the Safety of Life at Sea Convention (SOLAS) to load a packed container onto a ship if the ocean carrier and terminal operator do not have a verified gross mass (VGM) being cargo and tare weight combined. Whilst it is the case that the shipper (as named on the ocean bill of lading) has a existing responsibility to declare gross mass accurately this amendment is much more specific on how this duty is to be performed and documented. Two methods are nominated to obtain the verified weight: Method 1: The packed container is weighed after the end of the stuffing operation using calibrated and certified equipment. Method 2: For some uniform or packaged cargo at nationally approved locations the known unit weight of cargo packages / pallets etc. and securing material can be added to the tare mass of the container. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The World Shipping Council (WSC) and its member shipping companies have developed guidelines and FAQs (link below) to explain what the implementation of the regulations will require of shippers, a vessel master or his representative and the terminal operator. A. Crawford, then KEU Company Secretary. The letter encloses an Agency Agreement appointing EISC to act as Kawasaki s protective agent in all Compliance in the Shipping Industry K Line is a large Global organisation touching many different regions and jurisdictions. As a consequence we have to be mindful of all the applicable laws and regulations in these regions covering areas such as Competition, Bribery, Environmental, Sanctions, health & safety, security, and data protection. Indeed the scrutiny on global business appears to be intensifying year after year with new requirements to comply This Agency Agreement took effect from 1st November 1980 so by the time this article is published, EISC will have been a K Line agent for 35 years. Congratulations to EISC on our long association and 35 years of devoted service. Mohammed Hashish, Vice Chairman of EISC commented it is worth mentioning that EISC was founded in July 1978 with being placed on us every year. Most recently, in the UK, we are now required to produce a statement related to human trafficking and modern day slavery detailing our efforts to combat this problem. Particular attention must be paid to European law as set by the European Commission in Brussels, and within this body of legislation Competition law is a priority for all businesses operating in the European market. Activities which restrict competition are prohibited by these laws such as; price fixing, market sharing, artificially limiting capacity and abuse of able to maintain this successful service for many years. Although EISC are almost certainly the longest serving third party agency in KEU, I m sure that some of our owned offices and joint venture agencies can trace their association with K Line back even further. We would be interested to hear from you. Philip Parish, K Line (Europe) Ltd. dominance. K Line has pledged to comply with all applicable laws, ordinances, conventions and rules of the domestic and international community. As Compliance Manager for K Line (Europe) I have to ensure that the activities of our company do not jeopardise this pledge. The consequences of non-compliance are severe and cases can take many years and many resources to resolve even if ultimately in our favour. Luckily I have found a good attitude amongst K Line staff and a willingness to embrace the requirements of our compliance program, whether it is receptivity to training or adherence to procedures. Long may it continue as it would seem the regulatory landscape for shipping is becoming more and more complex. Patrick Daws, General Affairs & Compliance Manager, K Line (Europe) Ltd. 6 7

5 KEur K LINE STAFF Glen Canyon Bridge in Remontowa Shiprepair Yard, Gdansk Glen Canyon Bridge arrived at Remontowa, Gdansk, Poland on 5th of December 2015 for her Dry Docking and second class survey. She was built in 2006 in Hyundai Heavy Industries, Ulsan, South Korea. VESSEL PARTICULARS: Deadweight 71,291 Tons LOA metres Beam 40 metres Draft summer 14 metres Service speed 25 knots Cargo capacity 5642 TEU (7 cargo holds) Main engine MAN 11k98 MC Mk6 68,000 BHP x 85.2 RPM Vessel flag Panama The beam of 40 metres is somewhat unusual for a container vessel. Generally, container vessels are built with a maximum beam of 32.2 metres to allow those vessels to go through the Panama Canal. The Glen Canyon Bridge supports Asian European services and so does not have to pass either through the Panama Canal or around Cape Horn. The dry docking and scope of repair works was typical for this type of vessel. The yard was responsible for: Main engine units overhaul 6 pieces, coolers, heaters, pumps, electric motors overhaul/inspection, bow thruster removal/ transport to workshop/ overhaul and finally refit, piping renewal and LSFO settling service tanks line modification, cargo hold hatches 18 pieces remove/refit transport ashore for treatment and steel repairs works, container sockets 23 pieces renewed, boiler washing and overhaul carried out. The vessel was docked in the largest of Remontowa s floating docks dock number 6. The main works which were done in the dock: overboard valves were overhauled, hull (21,410 sq. metres) was blasted and painted, the ton propeller was removed/refitted and polished, and intermediate shaft bearings were overhauled. The name of the ship is also the name of the famous American bridge the Glen Canyon Bridge. The bridge was built in the period between across the Colorado River in Arizona. At the time was the largest arched bridge in the world when completed. Its length is 480 metres, and has a ground clearance of 213 metres. Marek Aszendorf, K Line (Deutschland) GmbH Sp. z o.o.oddział w Polsce The Gdansk shiprepair yard Remontowa S.A. specialises in ship conversions and repairs, designs and constructions of new ships, offshore units and steel structures. The shipyard was established in 1952 and privatised in Over sixty one years, Remontowa has become a leader among the European shiprepair yards and a major player at the world market. Presently Remontowa is the largest repair and conversion yard in Poland and one of the biggest in the world. Every year, over 200 vessels from all over the world are repaired or converted. These include passenger and car ferries, all types of tankers, offshore support vessels, car carriers, container carriers, reefers, bulk carriers, roro vessels, dredgers, drilling rigs and jack-up drilling platforms. K Line Italia performs first cold treatment shipments to China I m sure that many of you will be surprised to read that Italy is the second largest producer worldwide of Kiwi fruit. Starting a couple of years ago we began targeting and consequently managing kiwi shipments from Genoa and La Spezia, mainly to Singapore and Hong Kong, since these destinations do not require COLD TREATMENT (CT) procedure. After a thorough and complete study/evaluation period which involved KIT/RTD Genoa/London/Tokyo offices it was decided that one of our reefer targets from Italy for 2015 was to perform at least one Kiwi shipment using 40 RF HC unit subject to COLD TREATMENT (CT). In Italy the harvest season begins at the middle/end of October, and lasts for three or four weeks, but shipments for this seasonal traffic usually end by March of the following year. So we approached our usual fresh fruit target accounts and informed them that for the current Kiwi season 2015/2016 K Line Italia was ready to offer COLD TREATMENT. I must admit that it was not easy to get a trial shipment, considering that we are newcomers in this specific field! We encountered some skepticism and lack of trust, this is normal when setting up and selling something brand new and we must also keep in mind that with fresh fruit there are higher risks involved in case of CT failure (cargo value can reach USD /unit) but finally in December our tenacity paid off and local reefer account TRAMACO (which specialises in the fresh fruit business) assigned us not one, but two CT bookings!! The first 40 RF HC unit from Genoa to Shanghai, and the second from La Spezia to Yantian. The units were successfully loaded respectively on the Humen Bridge V. 52E, which sailed from Genoa on 05/12/2015, and the Hanjin Germany 0030E, which sailed from La Spezia on 22/12/2015. Needless to say we will closely monitor these two trial shipments in order to achieve a flawless service. The target for next year will be to have weekly CT bookings on our services. Attached are some photos taken by myself and Mr. Alessandro Caprara, who is shown assisting stuffing in Revello (Cuneo) for our first CT reefer unit loaded onto the Humen Bridge V. 52E. We are particularly proud of this first CT unit considering it s a hat-trick a K Line unit, haulage performed under C/H by KIT and a K Line vessel. The perfect start! The target for next year will be to have regular CT bookings from Genoa and La Spezia and hopefully in the future also from Salerno. Fabio Corallo, Sales Department, K Line Italia S.r.l. 6 KEur K Line University Tokyo Campus After some time back in Europe, I still retain a very good memory of my time in Tokyo participating in K Line University (KLU) and meetings with our good colleagues from Car Carrier Group. Japan Marine United shipyard, Drive Green Highway and Heiner Thomsen It was a great experience to meet with K Line colleagues from all over the world, and I would like to thank K Line for granting us such a great opportunity to participate in KLU Tokyo. During KLU I experienced considerable devotion, sophistication and enthusiasm from all K Line presenters for the company and shipping in general. The workshops helped a lot to understand the company s mind set and our management plan K Line Value for our Next Century. Sessions included Container, LNG, Bulk, Tanker, Group Strategy & Development and Environmental & Technical Group. Each presentation showed the differences of each group, but in the end, it always ended in how to contribute to K Line s Management Plan. So, everything is connected. As a car carrier guy, I was very curious to see my bosses explain about the Car Carrier Group, and I enjoyed the fact that all KLU students were so impressed with the car carrier business. It was highlighted by visiting the Japan Marine United (JMU) shipbuilding yard, where the latest PCTC newbuilding, Drive Green Highway, was under construction. I was very impressed by the size of the scrubber she is equipped with. At the end of the course, a last party was held and I was deeply honoured to talk to our president, Murakami-san. I am very thankful to get to meet people working for K Line from all around the world and connect to them and learn about their function and work. Some great c have definitely evolved from that. The years have gone by quickly and many things have changed during the 25 years. When I first started there was no s or iphones, and big container vessels carried 2 3,000 teus. The rate level was also quite different and it was not unusual to have a freight of USD 4,500 for a 20 reefer container form Denmark to Japan. One of the first days of my employment involved was also the first call of the K Line feeder service, today know as the Ibesco service, but at that time called the Nosco service and we have a small article on that subject in this issue of K Euro K. I had the pleasure of working with many nice and clever people within the K Line organization during the 25 years which have been filled with many positive memories and nice experiences. Thank you to the management and owners for the trust in my abilities and the support rendered during the years. I could enjoy so many friendly, nice invitations by so many colleagues, sometimes even to their homes, which I want to thank them again for very much. I enjoyed a great, personal guide in Kyoto (he is sitting next to me in Hamburg office!), where I also did AirBnB in Kyoto for the first time in my life. Global has analysed the e-platforms tailor-made for K Line CCG (Car Carrier Group) proceeding the development analysis of the documents exchanged with Port Authorities Customs Transit cargo useful information about K Line and all its divisions/areas (Corporate Planning, CCG, Container group, KLNG, KLBS, SAL, Corporate Responsibility, Technical team, K Line travel, etc.); to work together and explore our cultural differences; to learn about the market as well as the company s challenges and opportunities; exploring Japanese cuisine (including Natto similar to Marmite in UK you either love it or hate it); visiting the latest addition to K Line s CCG fleet Drive Green Highway; meeting my HR counterpart in Japan, and learning a lot about the differences in employment laws and regulations and sharing our D/O and cargo manifest for the local and transit cargo. I guess, I would like to thank those who had provided me with this opportunity, and especially Tokyo s HR department for putting on such an amazing experience I sincerely hope that many more K Line employees will have the opportunity to be part of the K Line University. PS I hope that K Line University London campus (run by K Line London HR department) will one day provide you with a similar experience as K Line University Tokyo campus did for me. 7 KEur K LINE STAFF K Line University Richmond Campus RICHMOND, USA I was fortunate enough to be selected to be one of twelve delegates (see picture right) for the 2015 K Line University, Richmond Campus. Although it was not my first time in the US, I was really excited to visit this big country again, this time not as a tourist but with a stronger focus on my job. I was welcomed on 1st October by Ms. Maria Bodnar after a long flight from Genoa via Paris to Newark, and from there my adventure began with three days dedicated to the New Jersey area. Our party of five delegates came from all corners of the world and we were guided through our first day with an interesting tour of the port area, firstly visiting the Norfolk Southern Croxton Intermodal facility, and then the Maher terminal, the largest and busiest port on the East Coast. We concluded the day with a visit to a Customs Bond Warehouse, which was very informative, and helped us to understand how the US Customs work. It was also in some ways amusing, with its quirky memorabilia museum, explaining the ingenious smuggling attempts which have been discovered by the Customs officials. The next day was focused on a tour of New York, and although the worst weather possible was waiting for us, the charm of the Big Apple and the good company made the day an unforgettable experience. We then finished our New Jersey adventure on Sunday morning, with a plentiful American breakfast in a typical diner with Maria, whom, together with Melissa Spata and Donna Babitsky, really did their best to make us feel at home. Our week in Richmond started early on Monday morning in the hotel lobby, where we were greeted cheerfully by Mr. Norman Lomax, who drove the twelve of us to K Line s Richmond office. There, we were welcomed by President Sonobe, Mr. Mills, our individual sponsors and other KAM staff, who would guide us throughout this exciting full week. Each student was asked to prepare a presentation covering their respective area of responsibility and duties, and to then show it to the class. Although many of us found it very challenging, this proved to be a very interesting and enriching experience for everyone, and a really helpful exercise, not only giving us a wider overview of K Line s world, but also enabling us to get to know each other better. Every day was focused on some specific departments of KAM, and featured informative presentations and interactive activities to allow us to have a full understanding of K Line America and its functions. Of course, KLU was not only time spent in class, but was also about the time we enjoyed outside of it. Each dinner was hosted either by one of the KAM departments, or by our sponsors, which gave all participants a further great opportunity to get to know each other better, and of course learn a little bit more about K Line as well. It was always fun to discover mutual acquaintances with other people apparently from so far away, and so different from you, but still being part of the big K Line family! After an interesting tour of the historic centre of Richmond with Mr. Knut LaVine on Friday afternoon, our week concluded with our graduation dinner at the stunning Jefferson hotel. Following a delicious fourcourse meal, we were presented with our graduation certificates, and then closed the day with a bit of poetry the last group picture taken on the charming marble staircase which was also featured on the famous movie classic Gone With The Wind. As a conclusion, I can say that the experience at KAM University was really stimulating and I learnt a lot from it. Although in my daily job I am not very involved with US trade, I loved the opportunity to get more familiar with a big company like K Line America, and to learn how important and reputable it is in its market. Being a voracious lover of other cultures, I also very much appreciated the chance to meet with people from all around the world and share both our diversity and common points. I really like the idea of being able to give a face to people I had only known through s, and that I have now friends in many offices spread across the world. Thanks to KAM staff for all their efforts and hard work to make all this possible! Milena Bertuzzo, Regional Trade Department, Genoa office, K Line Europe Congratulations! 8 K LINE CULTURE K LINE SPORT KEur K Line London s Christmas party a ball On Friday 4th December 2015 the K Line London office had a Christmas party arranged by the Christmas party committee. The party was held at The Brewery. This is a Grade II listed venue occupying the buildings of Whitbread s 18th Century beer-making empire, now being used as an entertainment venue. The party theme was The Apostles of Anonymity an evening inspired by masquerade balls of Renaissance Venice. The evening started with arrival cocktails and entertainment. A clairvoyant, magician and various other entertainers. Masks were the order of the day. Ladies and gents were dressed for the occasion. I will let the photos speak for themselves. Furthermore the committee arranged for a people bingo, lucky dip raffle draws, prizes for the best dressed man and woman. Best of all was the food, drink and disco after the meal. A good time was had by all. I would like, on behalf of everyone, to thank the K Line management for a very nice and successful party. Judy Shepherd, K Line (Europe) Ltd., London Athens Marathon confirms its unique status CHRISTOFOROS MEROUSIS WINS CLASSIC EVENT T he Athens Marathon The Authentic has again asserted its status as a unique race despite the problems caused by the financial crisis in Greece. ago, while SEGAS, the Greek Athletics Federation, recorded a total of 43,000 entries for this and the shorter distance events, held the same day. For the first time since 2000 the Athens Marathon had a Greek men s winner, which was largely due to the fact that the organisers had not included an elite international field for the 33rd edition of the race. Christoforos Merousis (left) went into the lead within the first few kilometres from the start in the town of Marathon. Temperatures were warm, reaching over 20 degrees Christmas Party at Trinity Park 2015 T he Ipswich office Christmas party was on 12th December at Trinity Park, which was themed as a masquerade ball. We got into the spirit of the evening and wore masks some needed them more than others! The evening started at 19:30 with a glass of bubbly and a magician working the crowd, he was really good because my drinks kept disappearing. At 20:00 we sat down for a 3 course meal of our choice, and were entertained by the same magician. He said he was from one of the cruise ships he d obviously missed the boat then. I did tell him the Mackinac Bridge was sailing shortly. Once the meal was over the jollifications began. There was a rodeo reindeer, well a rodeo horse with novelty antlers stuck on, out at the back there were dodgems, and just inside the foyer a grab-a-grand booth. I understand that most people had a go on the reindeer, some had more success than others, and my record time was about 3 seconds. Most people had a go on the dodgems, I did not have a go as I didn t want to lose my no claims bonus and as I didn t have my specs on either, it would have been carnage. The evening was over all too quickly and it was time to go home, I would like to thank everyone who came to the event for making it a fun evening. Andy Lynch, Import Clerk, K Line UK Agency A record number of 16,000 runners went to the start line of this classic race at the very source of the event s inspiration, the coastal town of Marathon, from where the marathon was launched in the inaugural Olympic Games of the modern era in That marked a rise of almost 25% from a year Celsius as Merousis ran to victory in the old Olympic Stadium in Athens, stopping the finish line clock at 2:21:22. The next two men across the line were also from the host nation: Dimitros Theodorakakos finished second in 2:27:03 and Dimosthenis Evangelidis was third in 2:27:28. Management and Officers of Global Maritime s K Line Business Team were represented on the day by participants Mr. Anthony Doukas, Mr. Kostas Karoussakis, Mrs. Liza Tzanni and Mrs. Maria Eleftheriadou, who all successfully achieved their goals. Anthony Doukas, Global Maritime Agency S.A.
