1 English Language Requirements for International Students 1. Applicants whose first language is not English (Please refer to the UK Border Agency list of majority English language speaking countries) will be required to demonstrate their English Language ability in writing, reading, listening and speaking to be sufficient for them to derive full benefit from and succeed in passing their chosen programme. The below academic English language requirements are in addition to the UKBA requirements to obtain a TIER 4 visa, please check the most recent Secured English Language Test (SELT) list on the UKBA website. The academic English language requirements per programme are as follows. ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROGRAMMES TEST English language programme below level B1 (student visitor visa) English language programme at B1 or above (TIER 4 visa) At CEFR level A2 All components at minimum 4.0 At CEFR level A2 All components at minimum 36 Other BPP s online test at passed at level A2 N/A

2 INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION CERTIFICATES TEST Extended International Foundation Certificate Overall 5.0 (one component can be at 4.5, rest must be above) Overall 46 (one component can be at 41, rest must be above) International Foundation Certificate Overall 5.5 (one component can be at 5.0, rest must be above) Overall 51 (one component can be at 46, rest must be above) UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES TEST Extended Degree BSc Business Management (three year programme)* 5.5 (all components) Overall 6.0 (writing: 6.0) with mandatory in sessional English, no score below 5.5 LLB (three year and accelerated), BSc Business Management accelerated & BSc Banking & Finance** Overall 6.5 (writing 6.0), 51 (all components) Overall 56 (writing: 56) with mandatory in sessional English Overall score 59 (writing 56), *Students who achieve score of 5.5 or the equivalent TOEFL or Pearson need to undertake a pre sessional ** Students who achieve score of 6.0 or the equivalent TOEFL or Pearson need to undertake a pre sessional Admissions Officers may deem the English language requirement to have been met for applicants to an undergraduate programme if the applicant: (a) Has been taught and assessed in the English language throughout their educational career; OR (b) Has been taught and assessed in the English language for at least one full time year or equivalent of post 18 education. Please note that the student must have completed successfully this year of Education in order for this to be considered. AND (c) In addition to any of the above, the student will have to achieve B2 (minimum B2 in all categories) or above in BPP s online English test and pass an interview with an English Language Assessor at the equivalent of an score of 6.0. In countries with insufficient internet connection, students will be assessed through a written test and telephonic interview with a qualified English Language Assessor Important: Pre sessional English programmes are only open for students with a valid TOEFL, or PTE. POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

3 TEST LLM or MSc programmes 6.5 overall score (writing 6.0) Overall score 59 (writing 56) Students who achieve score of 6.0 or the equivalent TOEFL or Pearson need to undertake a pre sessional Admissions Officers may deem the English language requirement to have been met for applicants to postgraduate programmes if they hold an honours degree that was delivered and summatively assessed in English and they achieve B2 or above in BPP s English test as well as passing a telephonic/skype interview with a qualified English Language Assessor. Students who have been awarded an undergraduate (minimum 2:2 or equivalent) or postgraduate degree from a majority English speaking country (please refer to the UKBA list of English Language speaking countries) are deemed to have met the English language requirements for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Please note this only applies for academic qualifications and not professional qualifications. Admissions Officers may deem the English language requirement to have been met for applications to the MSc Accounting and Finance programme if the student has passed F1 F9 or more papers and has successfully passed a telephone/skype interview with a qualified English Language Assessor. Important: Pre sessional English programmes are only open for students with a valid or PTE.

4 ACCA & FOUNDATION IN ACCOUNTANCY City & Guilds 5.5 (all components) 51 (all components) B2 pass in all components A. Admissions Officers may deem the English language requirement to have been met for applications to the ACCA programmes if the student has passed all knowledge papers and 2 or more Skills papers and has successfully passed a telephone/skype interview with a qualified English Language Assessor. B. Students who have been awarded an undergraduate (minimum 2:2 or equivalent) or postgraduate degree from a majority English speaking country (please refer to the UKBA list of English Language speaking countries) are deemed to have met the English language requirements for ACCA Programmes. C. Students holding an NQF level 7 qualification awarded by a recognised body (including professional qualifications such as PGC/PGD from Edexcel) are deemed to have met the English language requirement for ACCA programmes. D. Admissions Officers may deem the English language requirement to have been met for applicants to an ACCA programme if the applicant: (i) Has been taught and assessed in the English language throughout their educational career; OR (ii) Has been taught and assessed in the English language for at least one full time year or equivalent of post 18 education. Please note that the student must have completed successfully this year of Education in order for this to be considered. AND (iii) In addition to any of the above, the student will have to achieve B2 (minimum B2 in all categories) or above in BPP s online English test and pass an interview with an English Language Assessor at the equivalent of an score of 5.5. In countries with insufficient internet connection, students will be assessed through a written test and telephonic interview with a qualified English Language Assessor

5 LAW PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS TEST GDL LPC BPTC Overall score of 6.5 or above, with a minimum of 6.0 in each area Overall score of 6.5 or above, with a minimum of 6.0 in each area Overall 7.5 with 7.5 in each element TOEFL (IBT) N/A Overall score 88 (no component can be below as the following: listening: 19, reading: 20, speaking: 22, writing: 19) 28 in each element Overall score 59 (no component below 56) Overall score 59 (no component below 56) 73 in each element Other Successful completion of BPP English Language, Study and Communication Skills at an equivalent to 6.5 with 6.0 in each element. Successful completion of Graduate Diploma in Law or an academic qualification at least equivalent to a UK Bachelors degree which was taught in a majority Englishspeaking country (Including the University of London External Programme) Declared English as a first language in the Application form. BPP might invite students for an interview if Degree grade of applicant is a All international students, except nationals of a majority English speaking country (as per the UKBA list), will be compulsory tested again on their English Language skills upon arrival at BPP. If their performance on the test is poor (despite having already met the English language requirements as laid out above), the students will be required to attend English Language support classes alongside the main course to ensure they have enough support while adapting to the new environment and to the learning. 3. BPP might consider the following tests to meet the English language requirements for English language, Foundation, ACCA as well undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (not professional law programmes): Cambridge First Certificate, Cambridge Advanced Certificate, Cambridge IGCSE (English as a first or second language) and Cambridge Proficiency Certificate. The international admissions officer will assess those on an individual basis 4. Students are reminded that the GARs state that Any student in respect of whom it becomes apparent that his or her ability in the English language is not at the required level for successful completion of the programme, may be required by the Director of Programmes to take an English language proficiency test. If the result of the test reveals that the student s standard of English is below that required for admission, the student may be required to take action, at their own cost, to remedy the deficiency, within timescales agreed by the director of programmes or otherwise to leave the programme. 5.
