2 CALL FOR PRESENTATIONS ACER invites contributions for the 4th National Adult LLN Assessment Conference on the theme of Equipping for the future: Assess, train, learn addressing the crucial issues surrounding adult and youth literacy and numeracy assessment, teaching and learning. The call for presentations, is now open until 12 December This two-day national conference, will provide the opportunity for key industry, business personnel and VET researchers, policy makers, training managers, trainers and coordinators from around Australia to get together to share insights and address a range of issues surrounding adult and youth literacy and numeracy. We invite you to submit a conference presentation or workshop, tell us about your teaching practices, contexts, issues, learners, or research. We d like to hear from a range of presenters working in adult LLN and Foundation skills across all areas of vocational education and training. Streams This practical conference will have different streams focussed at VET practitioners, alongside streams targeted at industry, researchers and policy makers. Stream 1 Stream 2 Stream 3 Stream 4 Stream 5 Stream 6 Assessment practices Working with VET Trainers Youth Adults Research: Policy and programs: Proposals will be accepted for: Presentations - Team or individual proposals will be accepted. Session length is 45 minutes and includes presentation and Q&A. Hands-on workshop - Sessions featuring actual practices, applications and scenarios, specialised techniques and innovative approaches will be accepted. Possible session lengths are 45 or 90 minutes. Presentation guidelines Only presentations that are product-neutral will be considered. Content The Conference seeks to educate its audience and will not allow presentations that promote commercial products. Exhibit space is available for all promotional activity. Presentation selections will be made by the NALLNAC steering committee based upon desired topics, educational value, flow of content, experience, expertise and understanding of the educational landscape. Agenda Schedule The conference organisers will set the day and time for each presentation, in order to optimize the flow and diversity of content. Sessions will end by 5:00 pm each day. ACER will notify all selected speakers via by 16 January 2015.

3 Selection criteria Proposals will be reviewed and selected by the NALLNAC steering committee and evaluated using the following criteria: Connection/applicability to the conference theme and streams Originality and quality of the proposed session Relevance to audience Presence of multiple perspectives Diversity of presenters (i.e., regional, institutional) Realistic allocation of time, including for discussion Substantive issues discussed during the session Speaker benefits All speakers will receive the following benefits: Further development of your reputation and expertise in your industry or field. All presenters will receive a 50% discount on the registration fee if they wish to attend the conference. Speakers will be featured in the conference handbook and on the ACER/NALLNAC website. The above benefits do not extend to support staff or colleagues who may accompany the speaker. ACER does not pay an honorarium or travel expenses to its speakers. Who attends? If you have any questions about the National Adult LLN Assessment Conference or the presentation submission process, please contact Lisa Norris via , nallnac@acer.edu.au or by telephone (03) The NALLNAC Committee will have to choose from many proposals, some of which may be similar. The committee will seek balance among topics and areas of importance. Submissions of equal merit cannot always be selected, as the result would be an imbalance in the conference s overall coverage of topics.
