15 Nijmegen - Lent keywords: project: heritage landscape, dense development, motorway, urban farming / gardening In addiction of the urban extension of the city Nijmegen, the staff of the urban planning faculty of the T.U. Delft asked to re-design a part of the new urban plan. By focusing on the gripping landscape of the Betuwe area across the river Waal near Nijmegen, this design tries to integrate ( heritage ) landscape with high urban development. Existing old village structures meets temporary motorway landscape and dense urban design. To connect these two different typologies, urban gardening / farming will play a decisive role. The original orchards will connect them in their view lines, to bring the rural landscape inside a dense new development. The plan will subscribe almost 4/5 of the original plan made by the municipality of Nijmegen. location : Nijmegen year : 2010 status: theoretic visualisation : Municipality of Nijmegen / T.U. 21 IJsselmonde Klein Randstad keywords: project: strategy / region vision, Randstad, social & economic planning, temporary infrastructure RandStad is a polycentric metropolitan area which consists of urban and nature areas connected via a network of highways and public transport. A4 and A15 corridors connect RandStad to the Port of Rotterdam, to Germany and to Belgium. IJsselmonde at the junction of cargo routes acts as an important transport hub and a South Entrance to RandStad. As it results from an analysis the main problem of Ijsselmonde is fragmentation of activities and landscape caused by highways and railway. At the same time traffic corridors are crucial for Dutch economy and lifestyle and can not be downgraded. Therefore to improve the living environment it is necessary to create alternative landscape connections between the separated parts. In the strategy there are traffic, landscape and (re) development layers. Strategic interventions include: - on national level: completion of A4 highway and a superdike, - on regional level: Rotterdam- Dordrecht connection with integrated villages of Ridderkerk and Hendric-Ido-Ambacht, East-West connection as a chain of landscape parks, North- South connection between a new development in the port area and a wetland park, reconstruction of historic rivers; - on local level: downgrading and relocation of secondary roads, relocation of existing industries, small park developments, new public transport connections. All in all the plan eliminates barriers and improves connectivity. location : IJsselmonde year : 2011 status : theoretisch visualisation : TU Delft, municipality of The Hague i.c.w. : B. 27 Delfzijl 2030 : WADerPROOF keywords: project: Masterplan, strategy vision, heritage landscape, civil engineering, water design, population decline, urban shrinkage, urban farming Delfzijl 2030 : WADerPROOF is the first part of my graduation project of the Master urban planning at the Technical Univercity Delft. The masterplan tries to develop a proposal for the shrinking town, to maintance the urban structure and at the same time to demolish definitive 20 % of the builded area. Dense neighbourhoods will be transformd in to seperated neighbourhood village, modeled from wierden villages founded in the hinterland. The free comming zwischenstad between area, will be activated by urban farming and landscape parks, which will connect the old town again with the rural area. Important in this plan is the landscape value of the Waddensea ( unesco heritage landscape ), which gives structure to the zwischenstad, the artifactal outerdike salt march and the identity of the old town. location : Delfzijl year : 2012 status : theoretic organisation : TU Delft visualisation : Autodesk Autocad Adobe Illustrator Adobe Photoshop Handdrawing Sketchup SU-podium V-ray

The urban design tries to reactivate a shrinking town by a integral civil technical - and urban design of the innercity and harbour front. By replacing the concrete storm surge barrier wall through a green experience dike, the centre of Delfzijl receives a new attractive identity. Negative effects of the sea-level rising will be terminated through this elevated dike in the future for more than 100 years. location : Delfzijl year : 2012 status : theoretic organisation : TU Delft visualisation : Autodesk Autocad Adobe Illustrator Adobe Photoshop Handdrawing Sketchup SU-podium V-ray
