5 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Water: While sites report that tap water is perfectly fine, bottled water is available. Travel within the City: Taxi fees are usually negotiated with the driver ahead of time. Some have fixed rates. Ask the Hotel Front desk or your tour Guide for a recommend Taxi company. A Multi- use Travel Card costs about $10 for seven days unlimited travel on the Metro, Trolley or Normal buses. The Metro (minutes from the Hotel) is the preferred method of travel if you wish to travel around Moscow. Tipping: Tip 5-10% depending on service. Always check bill. Tipping a taxi driver is not necessary as price is usually pre negotiated. Electricity: Voltage: Volts (U.S./Canada are Volts). Electrical sockets (outlets) in Russia (the Russian Federation) are one of the two European standard electrical socket types: The "Type C" Europlug and the "Type E" and "Type F" Schuko. If your appliance's plug doesn't match the shape of these sockets, you will need a travel plug adapter in order to plug in. Travel plug adapters simply change the shape of your appliance's plug to match whatever type of socket you need to plug into. If it's crucial to be able to plug in no matter what, bring an adapter for all three types. Currency: the Russian ruble (RUR). The official currency exchange rate is approximately 78 rubles per one euro / 71 rubles per one US dollar (as of December, 2015). Please remember that rubles are used everywhere in Russia and other currency (euro, dollars, etc.) is not accepted when paying for the services or goods. However, there is no problem with exchanging foreign currency at the variety of banks or exchange points as well as with withdrawing money from ATMs.Credit, ATM Cards: Please make sure you notify your bank prior to departure that these cards will be used in Europe. Telephones: GSM mobile phones work well within Moscow. Signal strength falls away quickly, however as you leave the cities and their suburbs. International roaming works

6 fine in most Russian cities, but may come at a high price. The cheapest option for overseas calls using your mobile phone (in Moscow and St Petersburg) is to purchase a local sim card. With a local sim card, incoming calls are free of charge so you can always be reached and outgoing calls to most countries are around the 7 Ruble per minute price range (one of the best options is the Ediny plan provided by Megfon which costs 150 Rubles for the sim card - the lowest price to pay and the 150 Rubles is all pre- paid talk time). The important thing to understand with Russia and its mobile phone network is that each city is on a different network and once you leave the city where you have purchased your sim card, you go onto roaming tariffs, which can be as expensive. When buying a sim card you will almost always be asked to show your passport & registration. Land lines in Russia are NOT digital/tone, they are still rotary/pulse mode, so to use phone cards you need to activate the phone you are using to send tone signals to make the card work. After you dial the phone card number, that is done by pressing the "*" key (you often need to hold it for a while then it'll come up with a 'd' on the screen) before pressing the numbers on the phone card. Skype is free. Time: is GMT +3. Medical Care: Remember to bring any medications you may need. Washrooms: All the public restrooms in Moscow charge fee for use. You need to pay something before you can enter, by cash, they don't accept major credit cards. Flights: Depart Various Times and Locations. TRAVEL TIPS Visas: To enter Russia for any purpose, a U.S. citizen must possess a valid U.S. passport and a visa issued by a Russian Embassy or Consulate. The specific travelling dates must be notated on the Travel Visa. Passport: Current within 6 months. Please make a photo copy of Passport information page. Keep in safe place. Insurance: Travel Insurance is highly recommended. Players and their families must obtain travel insurance before departing the United States. Baggage Charges: as per the Airline. Hockey Supplies: (Bring extra sticks, Tape, skate blades and laces)

Laundry Services: available at the Hotel Getting to Know Moscow Moscow is the capital of Russia and is located in the far west of the country on the river Moskva. It has a population of 11,273,400 (as of 2004), although a great number of both permanent and temporary illegal migrants, plus the ongoing merging of suburbs, raise the unofficial population to about 13.5 million people - about one tenth of the entire Russian population. Already the most populous city in Europe, Moscow continues to grow. This is largely due to its 20% per annum economic growth, which attracts workers from other parts of Russia where the economy has stagnated or is even in decline. As well as being a thriving economic centre (boasting more billionaires than any other city in the world), Moscow is also a centre of the arts. The city enjoyed a golden age of literature in the 19th century when Puskhin, Chekhov, Gogol, Turgenev, Dostoevsky and Tolstoy all worked here. Today the world- famous Bolshoi Ballet and Opera Company still perform, as well as a number of reputable theatre groups.
