3 Titanium Trochanteric Fixation Nail System. For intramedullary fixation of proximal femur fractures. Anatomic Axis 6 Guide Wire Entry Path 1 Axial and AP view of insertion site. 2 Insert the 3.2 mm guide wire. 3 Open the canal using the 17.0 mm cannulated drill bit. Drill to the stop. 4 Insert the titanium trochanteric fixation nail. 5 Use light hammer blows, if needed. Use the driving cap with a free hammer or the hammer guide with the slide hammer. 6 Attach the appropriate aiming arm (125, 130 or 135 angle). Verify nail insertion depth and anteversion. 7 Insert blade guide sleeve and advance to the lateral cortex by turning the buttress/compression nut counterclockwise. 8 Insert the 3.2 mm guide wire for helical blade. 9 Check the position of the guide wire using the image intensifier.

4 10 Measure for length of helical blade by passing the measuring device over the guide wire to the back of the blade guide sleeve. 11 Drill for the helical blade using the 11.0 mm tapered drill bit. Drill to the stop. For dense bone, use the 6.0 mm/10.0 mm stepped drill bit after the cortex has been opened with the tapered drill bit. 12 Insert the helical blade completely to the stop. Use light hammer blows on the head of the coupling screw to seat the helical blade. 13 Lock the helical blade to control rotation by advancing the locking mechanism to the stop. 14 Locking distally: 170 mm and 235 mm nails. Using the 11.0 mm/8.0 mm protection sleeve and 8.0 mm/4.0 mm drill sleeve through the aiming arm, drill for the locking bolt or locking screw and read the length directly from the 4.0 mm calibrated drill bit at the end of the drill sleeve. Insert the locking bolt or locking screw. Locking distally: 300 mm 460 mm nails. Drill for and insert the locking bolt or locking screw using either the radiolucent drive or standard freehand technique. 170 mm and 235 mm nails 300 mm 460 mm nails 15 Remove the connecting screw and insertion handle using the 8 mm ball hex screwdriver or the 8 mm cannulated shaft and 11 mm ratchet wrench. 16 Insert the end cap into the proximal end of the nail using either the 11 mm hexagonal socket and ratchet wrench, or the 5 mm flexible hexagonal screwdriver. 17 Final position. Blade Guide Sleeve Buttress/Compression Nut Assembly Tighten connecting screw using the ball hex screwdriver. Buttress/Compression Nut Blade Guide Sleeve, for Trochanteric Fixation Nails Thread buttress/compression nut onto the blade guide sleeve. Insert blade guide sleeve assembly through the aiming arm. 6.0 mm/10.0 mm Stepped Drill Bit Assembly Drill Stop mm/10.0 mm Stepped Cannulated Drill Bit, large quick coupling, 435 mm Insertion Assembly for 11.0 mm Helical Blade Helical Blade Coupling Screw Position drill stop on stepped drill bit. Helical Blade Inserter Helical Blade Inserter with 11.0 mm Helical Blade Attach the helical blade to the helical blade inserter.
