2 1. The action plan determines sequence of activities for employees, visitors and students in case of fire at Rrga Stradig5 University. Description of the sequence of activities is based on three conditions: 1.1. each employee of the establishment has participated in the fire security instructing, has acquired skills for the use of fire extinguishing means; I.2sach employee is capable of disconnecting electricity for suppliers in hisftrer floor and work place; and 1.3. each employee is capable of saving or evacuating material values from the place of accident. 2. 4 5. Organisution of evacuation 5.1. After the receipt of information about the fire, follow evacuation signs and leave the building During the evacuation it is necessaryto prevent occuffence of panic, explaining people that exits are open and everybody will receive aid Avoid rooms filled with smoke, after leaving such rooms you must stay close to walls and near the floor, if possible, covering respiratory organs (nose and mouth) with damp cloth to prevent poisoning with smoke and charcoalfumes First of all people must be evacuatedfrom premiseswhere their lives and health are threatenedthe most under the circumstaneesof the fire, as well as top floors. Leaving the room, close all doors and windows, becausefresh air enhancesquick spreadof fire Intemal stairs (staircase)shall be used primarily for the evacuation of people from top floors. If staircaseis filled with smoke, windows must be immediately either opened or broken to let out smoke and ensureinflow of fresh air. Doors to premises filled with smoke spreadingto the staircasemust be denselyclosed.use of lifts is strictly forbidden! 5.6. In all cases when rescue works are organised by using windows, loggias or balconies, all doors and unused windows must be closed in the relevant room to prevent draught enhancing burning and to prevent smoke from spreading in the room. 6. Individual safety when no notifrcation has been made about the accident, etc If the room is filled with smoke and it is not possible to leave the room, crawl towards the window. Slightly open the window. If the window is opened entirely, additional draughtwill be caused,which will consequentlyenhanceinflow of smoke in the room Stay low near the window. Thereby you will be able to breathe fresh air from outsideand avoid smoke that will gradually fill the room If you find the door and feel that it is hot, do not open the door. It may mean that the fire has spreadin the room behind the door. If you open the door, flames will immediately spreadin the room. The closed door may serve as a safe cover from fire and may protect you until help arrives. 6.4.If the door is hot, block the holes as much as you can. Everything at hand - wet towels or other materials - may be used for this pu{pose Open or break the window only in caseof extreme necessity.however, in such case smoke may get inside the room also from the outside of the building. Furthermore, if the window is broken, you no longer have the chanceto close it If you are on the first floor and are able to safely get out through the window - do it. If you are located higher than the first floor, try to refrain from the decision ofjumping out the window as long as you can to avoid injuries causedby jumping from a dangerousheight. 6.7.If you cannot exit the room, try to make some noise so that others would hear you and know where you are. The best way to do this - banging together various objects,instead of screamingas it is important to savethe breath. Moreover, you will attractattention to your location by waving with a towel or curtains through the window If the door of the room is not hot, slightly open it to make sure there is no smoke and fire outside the room. When you leave the room, lock (close) the door. The latter will reducethe spreadof fire and will protect your property. Do not forget to take the keys with you. If all evacuationpassagesare closed and you are not able to leave the building, you will need the key to get back in the room that will become the safest place to escapethe fire, as well as it will be necessaryto open the room after the fire accident.

5 6.9.If possible, cover your nose and mouth with damp cloth to prevent burning yorn lungs with hot fumes If your clothes catch fire, do not panic and avoid fast movement of your anns, because this will enhance spread of flames. In such case stop, lay down on the floor, start rolling front and back. If a blanket is within your reach (in case of extreme necessity - a coat), wrap it around you. If you notice that clothes of another person are on fire, do not automatically assume that this person knows how to act. First of all inform the person, then push the person down on the floor and start rolling the person front and back until the flames disappear. Act fast! A blanket, your jacket or any other piece of your clothes may be used for smothering flames Do not stay too long in staircases or corridors, thinking what to do. Help all persons located in adjacent rooms if they struggle with fire; if help is not needed, go to the information service on the first floor to receive information about further action. Movement in evacuation passages is only in one direction. One should not move along the passages in the opposite direction If a person has tripped over in the evacuation passages, try to lift the person up and help evacuate Evacuated people may return in the premises only after permission from the State Fire and Rescue Service of Latvia has been received.
