Our Facilities Currently located at our city centre campus on Schoolhill in the heart of Aberdeen, our School is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art chemistry, formulation and aseptic manufacturing laboratories and a purpose built Professional Skills Centre. We are one of the few UK universities to have a Sterile Products Unit, which enables training and experience in the manufacture, packaging and testing of sterile products. Plans are underway to move the School to a new purpose built, multi-million pound facility at our riverside Garthdee Campus by The Course The MSc OSPAP programme comprises six modules of study and a wide range of study methods are used, including lectures, group tutorials, practicals, experiential placements, web-based learning and clinical teaching sessions. Delivered by our range of experienced practitioners, e-tutors and research active academic staff, the programme aims to help you develop independence in analysis and problem solving. Through our virtual learning environment CampusMoodle you will receive support materials and find directed study for each of the OSPAP modules. You will be supported by subject specialist e-tutors whose role is to enhance the programme delivery. You will also be assigned a personal tutor who is there to provide pastoral support. Our OSPAP students also have access to online e-mentors who themselves have successfully completed the OSPAP programme.

6 Placements Placements are an integral part of the OSPAP programme and are embedded in the Pharmaceutical Care, Prescribing Sciences, Advanced Sciences in Professional Practice and the Legislation and Professional Studies modules. Placements are hosted in a variety of settings including community pharmacy, NHS hospital and industry where the focus is on case studies and medication history and includes patient contact, contact with pharmacists and nursing staff and interaction with industrial chemists. Placements are designed to provide a range of learning experiences and to allow you to integrate academic studies with real life practice. Placements enable you to: > > develop knowledge of Quality Management Systems and regulatory compliance > > develop knowledge, skills and professional attitudes > > broaden experience of different models of pharmacy practice > > develop professional competence in the systematic application of pharmaceutical care in a practice setting to synthesise, implement and evaluate care plans for patients > > increase awareness of the NHS and the roles and activities of health professionals > > develop an awareness of current issues within the profession > > consider the patients perspectives > > develop communication skills with patients and health professionals > > develop life long learning skills and a reflective approach to everyday practice Entry Requirements Entrants to the OSPAP programme must have been approved by the adjudicating committee of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) for entry to an overseas pharmacists assessment programme (OSPAP). All entrants to the OSPAP are required to demonstrate English Language Proficiency via an IELTS test result (minimum achievement required is a score of 7 or greater in each element of the academic test). Successful completion of the RGU OSPAP will entitle candidates to apply to undertake a pharmacy pre-registration training placement in the UK. Please note that while you will be supported and guided through the process of preregistration application, the responsibility to find an appropriate pharmacy pre-registration training placement lies with the student. As the roles of the pharmacist in the UK have changed tremendously in recent years with the introduction of prescribing roles for pharmacists, I gained maximal benefit from the experiential placements and the material included in the Prescribing Sciences and Pharmaceutical Care modules.
