The Tech Tour will pair the most promising early and later stage growth companies with representatives from leading cross-border venture capital and global corporate firms. The Funds that will be present at the Tour represent over 10 billion worth of investment capital. The 25 best high growth companies Companies from across the technology spectrum based in Germany, Switzerland and Austria can apply to compete to become one of 25 finalists. Finalists will be chosen from a pool of over 250 applicants. Selected companies will not be charged to present. The deadline for applications is March 15. Dr. Ralph Eric Kunz, who has more than 15 years of experience in the IT and Telco industries as manager, entrepreneur and investor, will serve as President of the DACH Tech Tour. One of the reasons why the DACH area has been able to emerge so dynamically from the recent recession is the high degree of specialization of its industry players. states Dr. Ralph Eric Kunz. Selection criteria Applicants will be assessed on the uniqueness of their technology, the strength of their business model, vision, and capability to execute on the business plan and the quality and track record of their management. Submissions will be reviewed by the selection committee, which is comprised of 20 senior business leaders from various backgrounds including venture capital, technology, research and economic promotion. Rewards for finalists The selected 25 finalists will each have a twenty minute slot to present their business plans to senior partners, vice presidents and CEO`s from the global venture capital and technology industry, as well as service providers and academics. In addition, they will benefit from networking opportunities, local and international media exposure and potential opportunities to secure funding. The Tech Tour does not charge selected companies to present. New format for Tech Tours The DACH Tech Tour is the first time the Tech Tour will visit this region in its new format which combine geographic regions. Tech Tour will visit six defined regions on a three year rotation, giving entrepreneurs the opportunity to meet international investors more frequently and facilitate investor access to a wider range of start-ups. The finalists selected from an application short list of over 230 companies represent the region s most promising, high-growth, early- and expansion-stage technology companies. The Gala dinner, held at the spectacular Bärensaal inside the Berlin Stadhaus, will host the Who s Who of the DACH regions technology and venture capital industry. With the application process now closed an overview of the applicants demonstrate that the DACH region continues to be a hub for Internet and New Media with over 40% of applications coming from this sector. 12% of applications came from the IT & Infrastructure industry, 10% from telecommunications and mobility and 8% from Enterprise SW applications. Other industry sectors include: New materials, Semiconductor, Nanotech Electrical systems, devices, peripherals Medical Instrumentation & IT and Cleantech Over 50% of the companies that applied were from Germany/ Austria punched well above its weight with over 30% of the applications from this region. 20% of the companies that applied to attend the event came from Switzerland. As one of the hotbed s for the European start-up scene, Berlin will host the DACH Tech Tour on 25 th and 26 th of May,while the second leg will held in Berner Oberland and Zurich.. During the 2,5 day Tour each finalists will have twenty minutes to present its business plan to senior partners, vice presidents and CEOs from the global venture capital and technology industry, as well as to service providers and academics. Each selected company will benefit from networking opportunities, local and international media exposure and opportunities to secure funding. Event partners including Google, SAP and Schroders Private Bank will be present to hear the investment opportunities. There is over 10 billion worth of investment capital present at the Tour. A select group of investors will have the opportunity to attend the DACH Tech Tour limited places available,
