The School offers two full time courses for students interested in pursuing exciting careers in the field of health. - MSc. Health Sciences - Master of Public Health The courses are highly interdisciplinary and involve extensive community, health / hospital based work. Study and training are conducted in both urban and rural settings. The MSc Health Sciences programme has a strong bio-medical focus. Epidemiology and biostatistics are compulsory to both courses and involve computer based training with primary data collection from urban and rural community settings, public sector health facilities, hospitals etc. Students of Health Sciences have compulsory training in laboratory methods in health sciences which include basic to advanced techniques from the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology. Master s dissertation is also compulsory and centres around (but is not exclusive to) the three key research areas of (a) social epidemiology, (b) public health nutrition and (c) human genetics and health policy.
