2 The significance of the event We want to summon the students from different latitudes and offer them the opportunity to reflect on the idea of citizenship, so as to be able, all together, to transcend borders not only geographical borders - and to recognize the traces of a common humanity. We would like to encourage a sense of trust among the students and to help them feel indispensable for the making of a better world. Thursday 27th October, 2005 Welcoming: - of the students into their host families and the host premises; - of the adults into their hotels. Friday 28th October, 2005 La Fenice Theatre (seating capacity 900 people) With the participation of: - Italian and foreign students; - School principals and teachers who will join the afternoon seminars, organized into the following parallel sessions: Europe: a dream and a challenge beyond any frontier; The students voice in civil defence work and more; No winning, no losing a.m. Talks about frontiers (Maurizio Viroli (University of Princeton) Franco Cassano (University of Bari), July Mostov (University of Philadelphia), (University of Kiev) for students, school principals, teachers, parents a.m. Coffee break a.m. Debate p.m. Division of the students into multi-ethnic study groups for the afternoon seminars.
