1 SINGAPORE HOSTS CIVIL AVIATION CYBER SECURITY CONFERENCE 1. From 9 to 10 July 2015, Singapore will host more than 200 civil aviation stakeholders and security experts from over 16 countries, representing the public and private sector, and international and industry associations, for the Civil Aviation Cyber Security Conference. Jointly organised by the Singapore Ministry of Transport (MOT), Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and Singapore Aviation Academy, and supported by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Air Transport Association (IATA), the conference brings together the international civil aviation community to discuss key issues relating to cyber security. The keynote speakers at the conference include Mr Raymond Benjamin, Secretary-General of the ICAO, and Mr Tony Tyler, Director-General and Chief Executive Officer of the IATA. Mr Pang Kin Keong, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport, Singapore will deliver the opening address on 9 July. 2. Featuring a line-up of 24 international and local speakers, the conference serves to further the collective awareness of civil aviation stakeholders on the growing risk of cyber threats, and the potential impact and consequence of these threats to civil aviation operations. In this age of interconnectedness, such threats can have severe implications on the global civil aviation eco-system including airlines, airport operators, air freight companies, security service providers, aviation security equipment suppliers, aircraft and aero-engine manufacturers, regulators, and others. Besides raising awareness, the conference also provides a platform for civil aviation leaders and stakeholders to exchange views on the challenges, considerations, and possible approaches to dealing with cyber threats. 3. In Singapore, civil aviation has been identified as a critical sector in the Critical Infocomm Infrastructure Protection (CIIP) Programme under the National Cyber Security Master Plan The programme aims to systematically strengthen the security and resilience of the info-comm systems of critical infrastructure. As the lead for the aviation sector, CAAS has been working closely with the aviation community and the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore to implement the CIIP Programme. Singapore had also established the Aviation Cyber Security Community (ACSC) in November 2014 to 1 Announced on 24 July 2013, the five-year National Cyber Security Master Plan 2018 was developed through a multi-agency effort led by the Infocomm Development Authority under the guidance of the National Infocomm Security Committee (NISC). The Master Plan provides an overarching strategy to help Government and private sector organisations strengthen their resilience against cyber threats.
