4 Type 2 the standardized AC and DC charging system for Europe The type 2 standard adopted by the European Commission for E-Mobility charging systems offers both AC and fast DC charging. With just one inlet on the vehicle side, both AC and DC connectors type 2 can be used for charging. AC connector type 2 The entire type 2 charging system the combined AC/DC charging system is the ideal charging interface of the future. Combined DC connector type 2 The standard for Europe type 2 Standard IEC adopted by the European Commission covers two charging plugs: the combined DC connector for fast charging and the AC connector for already established AC charging. These two AC and DC connectors represent the type 2 European standard. The special feature of these charging plugs is that they are both compatible with the same vehicle inlet. This means that only one inlet the combined AC/DC vehicle inlet is required in the electric vehicle for both AC and DC charging. 5 Combined AC/DC charging system (CCS) The most important requirement for a modern E-Mobility charging infrastructure is a reliable and standardized connection for charging stations and vehicle sockets. The vehicle can be recharged with both alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC). If AC is used for charging, the energy is supplied directly from the existing low-voltage network to the integrated AC/DC converter in the vehicle. In the case of DC charging, the AC/ DC converter is located within the charging station, thereby reducing the load on the vehicle. The combined AC/DC charging system type 2 enables both AC charging and faster DC charging on the move. The electric vehicle is designed for both established AC charging and for DC charging on the move. The combined DC connector transmits DC current up to 125 A. It is inserted into the vehicle inlet very easily and with very little force. 7 Secure locking Modern color variants The charging plug is locked in the vehicle to prevent arcs caused by removal when under load. The plug is designed to withstand the highest pull-out forces. The integrated temperature monitoring protects against fire in the event of faulty contacts. Modern charging stations also increasingly feature special designs and colors. Choose charging plugs in custom matching colors. Intelligent charging process Predefined charging mechanisms and sequences are performed for both AC and DC charging. For both charging types, the signal and control contacts, CP and PP, are used for communication and control. 8 Type 2 the standardized AC charging system for Europe Single or three-phase AC charging is performed with the standardized charging plugs type 2 from Phoenix Contact. As part of the safety concept, both PP and CP signal contacts assume control functions. For example, this method checks whether the connector is correctly inserted in the inlet and which current may be used for charging. Locking prevents withdrawal of the plug-in connector during the charging process or prior to completion of all necessary transactions, such as payment. 10 Type 2 the standardized AC charging system for Europe Single and three-phase AC charging is performed with the standardized socket outlet type 2 from Phoenix Contact. Its space-saving design enables the socket outlet to be installed in a charging station or compact wall charging station. A separate connection on the lock actuator is used to control the lock and query the lock state. The socket outlet also enables a panel mounting frame or a hinged cover to be mounted and a drainage tube to be connected. The lock between the vehicle and the charging plug is closed using a lever system. 14 GB the standardized AC and DC charging system for China The AC and DC charging system according to GB standard has been specially developed for the Chinese market. Equipped with an innovative locking concept, premature or accidental removal of the plug during the charging process is prevented. When charging, an electrical locking bolt implemented in the inlet prevents removal of the charging plug while under load (hot disconnection). 17 Reliable use The DC charging system for utility vehicles from Phoenix Contact has already seen successful use for a number of years now. In order to reduce exhaust gas emissions in the port city of Qingdao, China, the public transport network operates numerous electric buses. These vehicles are based on the replacement battery concept. The battery units of over 40 buses are replaced two or three times each day at the battery replacement station. To date, well in excess of 100,000 batteries have been replaced. An electric bus at the fully automated battery replacement station in Qingdao, China. The battery is replaced on both sides. Fast battery replacement The replacement of the battery units is performed by fully automated robots within the space of a few minutes, thereby reducing downtimes to a minimum. 21 IT integration Charging infrastructures with ILC high-performance controllers can be linked to IT systems in a variety of ways. A wide range of protocols and interfaces are supported, such as OCPP, Modbus, and SQL. This means that connection to billing, monitoring, load and energy management systems can be ensured without any additional middleware. OCPP The Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP) describes the TCP/IP-based communication between the charging station and a back-end system. Originally developed in the Netherlands, this protocol is used in many countries and is also used by a large number of energy suppliers. The protocol supports interoperability between different operators of charging infrastructures.
