Option Description Toolbar The toolbar gives you quick access to frequently used commands in EASEUS Todo Backup. Action Panel Click Action Panel to view a list of tasks and operations you can perform. Tool Option Priority The priority of any process running in a system determines the amount of CPU usage and system resources allocated to that process. Decreasing the backup priority will free more resources for other CPU tasks. Increasing the backup priority might speed up the backup process due to taking resources from the other currently running processes. The result depends on total CPU usage and other factors. You can set up the backup process priority: Low - the backup process will run slower, but it will not influence other process running on your computer. Normal - set by default. The backing up will be processed with normal speed, but the backup process will influence other process running on your computer. High -The backup process will run with maximal speed, but the performance of other processes will be reduced. Compress A backup file can be compressed. By default, there is no compression for backups. You can choose the compression level for a backup archive: Normal - the recommended data compression level (set by default) High - higher image file compression level, takes more time to create a backup archive. Maximum - maximum backup archive compression, but takes a long time to create. Note: The optimal data compression level depends on the types of file stored in the archive. For example, even maximum compression will not significantly reduce the archive size if the archive contains essentially compressed files, like.jpg,.pdf or.mp3 Archive Protection A backup file can be protected with a password. By default, there is no password protection for backups. To protect the backup archive Enter the password for the backup archive into the password field. A password should consist at least of eight symbols and contain both letters (in the upper and lower cases preferably) and numbers to make it more difficult to guess. 12
Retype the previously entered password into the Confirm password field Note: If you try to restore data from a password-protected archive, the program will ask for the password in a special window, allowing access only to authorized users. Image Splitting Images can be split into several files to fit the type of the storage medium. You may choose a preset solution for various devices, which mostly depends on the file system on the destination storage medium. You may also either explicitly specify the split size to automatically split every backup image to volumes of a particular size. If you specify the size manually, the minimal size is 50MB. Temp File Setting Temp files may be created when operating. Errors might occur when operating sector-by-sector backup or clone. Please change the default setting of Temporary File Path under Option to other disks except the source disk. Or it will fail to backup or clone. Create bootable CD EASEUS Todo Backup 1.1 Media Builder allows you to create a bootable CD/DVD. If you download EASEUS Todo Backup through the web, you can create bootable media with the EASEUS Todo Backup 1.1 Media Builder. To do this, you need a blank CD/DVD-R/RW. To create bootable media: Run EASEUS Todo Backup 1.1 Media Builder wizard by selecting Tools > Create Bootable Disk. You can also run Bootable Media Builder without loading EASEUS Todo Backup 1.1 by selecting Programs > EASEUS Todo Backup 1.1 > Bootable Media Builder from the Start menu. Then you can create bootable CD or DVD via the step by step instruction. Bootable Media Builder Selection The Media Builder will give you a specific list of all available DVD/CD-R/RW drives. Once you decide which drive to be used to create bootable CD/DVD, choose it and click "Proceed" to continue the task. Completion of Creating Process When the creating process is completed, you will see a dialog box telling you the final result. You may just click OK to accomplish the whole task. Note: EASEUS Todo Backup 1.1 bootable CD does not support Mount, Unmount, Backup or Select the folder function. So please do these operations via Windows. 13

Troubleshooting Why cannot I clone it to a smaller disk when there are some errors on your source disk? The following notice indicates that there are some partition errors on source disk. You can view the error partition when you come to Select partition and hard disk page. To finish the clone, you need to use CHKDSK /F under Windows to fix the errors. If it fails to fix the errors or you want to keep the present status, then you need to prepare a destination disk larger or the same size as the source disk to finish the clone. Why does it fail to boot after restoring or cloning disk in Windows 2000/XP/2003? Your windows may fail to boot if the two parameters of the destination disk differ with these of the source disk after restoring or cloning disk, because the booting of Windows 2000/XP/2003 relies on the two physical parameters of disk, heads and sector numbers per track. In this case, you can boot the Windows by modifying the parameters of the destination disk to be identical with these of source disk via BIOS setup utility. Please see main board instructions for the specific modification. Why cannot I boot from the destination disk after restoring or cloning disk in Windows? 1. It may happen if you restore or clone the disk containing the Operating System to the destination disk with different interface. (The disk with SCSI interface is more likely to have this problem.) In this situation, you can restore it to the disk with same interface. 2. It may happen if you restore the Operating System to the destination disk with different heads and sector numbers per track. In this situation, you can restore it to the disk with the same disk parameters as the source disk, or please see Why does it fail to boot after restoring or cloning disk in Windows 2000/XP/2003? Why cannot I boot from the destination disk after restoring or cloning disk by bootable CD? In this situation, you can restore it to the disk with the same disk 15
parameters as the source disk, or please see Why does it fail to boot after restoring or cloning disk in Windows 2000/XP/2003? 3. It may happen if you install the Windows on a logical partition, and the capacity of the source disk is larger than that of the destination disk. In this situation, you can restore the Operating System to a disk larger than the source disk or the source disk. Why cannot I boot from the destination disk after restoring partition by bootable CD? 1. It may happen if you restore the partition to other position instead of original position. Please restore the partition to its original position. 2. It may happen if you restore the Windows Operating System installed on a logical partition to another disk. Please restore the logical partition with Windows Operating System installed to its original position. 3. It may happen if you restore or clone the disk containing the Operating System to the destination disk with different interface. (The disk with SCSI interface is more likely to have this problem.) In this situation, you can restore it to the disk with same interface. 4. It may happen if you restore the Operating System to the destination disk with different heads and sector numbers per track. In this situation, you can restore it to the disk with the same disk parameters as the source disk, or please see Why does it fail to boot after restoring or cloning disk in Windows 2000/XP/2003? 5. It may happen if you restore the partition to another disk without restoring MBR. Please restore MBR while restoring to another disk. 6. It may happen if you move the system partition by partition manager software after backing up it, and then perform the restore operation. In this case, Please delete the partition and try again. Why cannot I boot from the destination disk after restoring partition in Windows 2000? Our software cannot guarantee a successful boot in Windows 2000 if you restore a partition of an Operating System later than Windows Please restore it in the Operating System later than Windows Why cannot I choose the partition smaller than the source partition while restoring by bootable CD? EASEUS Todo Backup can only restore to the destination partition with the same size of the original partition by bootable CD. If larger than the original partition, the selected destination partition will be reduced to as large as the original partition. Please select a partition larger than or equal to the source partition to perform restore. 16
Can it be restored if the Operating System is installed on RAID or the backup image files of partition/disk are saved on RAID by creating bootable CD? No, EASEUS Todo Backup bootable CD cannot. 1. The Operating System cannot be restored if it is installed on RAID disk. 2. Please copy the backup image files to Non-RAID disk and then restore. Why does the software indicate insufficient space in the backup process? 1. It may appear if you appoint a partition smaller than the partition you need to backup as the temporary directory. Please select a larger partition as the temporary directory. 2. It may appear if you backup a partition by sector-by-sector. However, the capacity of all the other partitions is smaller than the partition. Please insert a new disk and select a larger partition as the temporary directory. Does EASEUS Todo Backup 1.1 support Dynamic Disk or GPT disk? No, EASEUS Todo Backup 1.1 does not support Dynamic Disk or GPT disk. Why cannot I restore the Operating System under Windows Operating System? EASEUS Todo Backup 1.1 can only restore the system partition by creating bootable CD. Please restore the system partition by creating bootable CD. Why is the restore point of Operating System unavailable or some registration information of software activation lost after restoring or cloning disk in Windows? EASEUS Todo Backup 1.1 cannot restore or clone the DiskSignature of the source disk to the destination disk. However, the restore point of Operating System and some registration information of software activation rely on the DiskSignature of the source disk. Please restore or clone the disk again by creating a bootable CD. Why did the software fail to work normally? The minimum resolution for EASEUS Todo Backup to work normally is 800*
When the DPI of operating system (Display Properties > Settings > Advanced > General in XP or Control Panel > Personalization > Display > Set custom text size (DPI) in Windows 7) is more than 100, the high screen resolution of your monitor is required and it should meet the following conditions: horizontal resolution is no less than 800*DPI/100; vertical resolution is no less than 600*DPI/100. Say, if the DPI is 120, the minimum requirement of screen resolution is 960*720. Why is the disk offline after clone in Windows 7? The two disks are identical to Windows after clone via bootable CD. Windows 7 will automatically make one of two identical disks offline. To use the disk, please make it online by manual, but please note that if there is an operating system on the disk, it may fail to boot from it. We suggest you disconnect one of the two disks from the computer after clone. Why does the Bit Locker partition come into normal one? The unlocked Bit Locker partition is the same as normal partition, so it will be a normal partition after backup and restore or clone. If you want to keep the attribute of the Bit Locker partition, please backup or clone it before unlocking. 18
