2 We shape the world Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters Association is a professional establishment which manages the export activities of its members. It was established in 1991 and now has more than 8000 members. The main purpose of the Association is to increase the export volume of the Turkish chemical and chemical products sector. Moreover, the Association conducts activities to increase competition by offering products of high quality from its member companies. The Main Functions of the Association Within this context, the main functions of Istanbul Chemicals and Chemical Products Exporters Association are as follows Providing sectoral collaboration Improving the export volume of the chemical and chemical products sectors on behalf of our members and in accordance with the needs of our country Organizing training courses, seminars and meetings related to the subject matter of chemicals and chemical products Supporting our members at the national and international level with any difficulties they encounter related to export/trade activities Organizing trade fairs, arranging promotional activities and establishing laboratories. The Activities of Association Organizing national and international meetings of our exporters Preparing promotional films and CD s in order to promote Turkish chemicals and chemical products in the international area Organizing national/international trade fairs Organizing meetings of our exporters with Buying Missions from different countries of the world Establishing Trade Missions, which are composed of Turkish exporters, to the target markets Offering seminars, conferences and training courses for our members Following developments in international law and informing our members about them Preparing annual reports about the export performance of the sector Conducting research for the new market Preparing reports about target markets and target sub-sectors

3 PLASTICS Plastics are used by end consumers in many areas. The building and construction trades, electronics, packaging and transportation industries have all benefited greatly from plastics. Ranging from kitchenware to products in the space industry, the breadth of product offerings made from plastics cannot be underestimated. Today, plastics make our lives; More comfortable. Our homes and offices are smartly furnished by plasticware. More flexible. Cables and medical tubes have simplified our lives. More artistic. Plastic arts reflect our individuality and creativity. More economical. The usage of plastics create cost effective solutions. THE TURKISH PLASTIC SECTOR The Turkish Plastic Sector has flourished by recognizing the changes brought about by new trends, by keeping pace with global innovations and by closely monitoring the dynamics of domestic and foreign demand. Turkish producers and exporters closely monitor domestic and global trends and utilize them to improve and diversify their production capabilities. The Turkish Plastic Sector consists of the following Plastic raw materials and semi-finished goods. Plastic products such as plastic houseware items, construction plastics, plastic packaging and other plastic goods. Plastic processing equipment. Indirect contributions to other exporting sectors as packaging or components such as industrial chemicals, cosmetics, paint, automotive and appliances. EXPORT FIGURES OF THE SECTOR The plastics industry has made continuous progress in the last decade. The industry fulfills not only domestic demand, but it also has fulfilled expectations for export performance. The Turkish plastic industry has achieved world quality standards. This quality centred production philosophy, has resulted in a distinctive export increase in the global marketplace.
