Council s education and care centres are located at: Location Telephone Open Days of Operation Asquith Nursery and Preschool Lords Avenue Asquith am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday Greenway Park Early Childhood Education Hornsby Nursery and Preschool Somerville Park Early Childhood Education Strategies 24.1 Cleaning Requirements 31 Shepherds Lane (Off Shepherds Drive) Cherrybrook 4-6 Linda Street Hornsby 679 Blaxland Road Eastwood am to 6.15pm Monday to Friday am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday am to 6.00pm Monday to Friday Council s education and care staff are to maintain a clean and safe environment for all children. a) Educators will leave all Council s education and care centres tidy and in a state that will facilitate maximum use of cleaning contractors. b) That the frequency of cleaning at all Council s education and care centres be five (5) days per week. c) Cleaning contractors will provide Safety Data Sheets for all cleaning products used in Council s education and care centres. d) Cleaning contractors are to maintain each of Council s education and care centres at a high standard of cleanliness while maintaining a safe environment. e) Cleaners are to comply with Council s Policies, Procedures, Privacy Act 1988, WH&S requirements and all agreed specifications and procedures of the Code and Procedures for Education and Care No 24 Cleaning. 2 f) Cleaning standards are to be closely monitored by each Director and noted at each Directors meeting within the WH&S agenda item Directors are to conduct an audit/inspection of each centre every 3 months. Inspections are to be conducted with the Contract Cleaner present and issues of concern highlighted and the required action taken to ensure the centres are cleaned as per specification Educators are to ensure notations are made in the contract cleaner s diary if the contract cleaning service is not performing to the specification and standards Cleaning contractors will be given three (3) warnings regarding the standard of cleaning if specifications are not being meet After three (3) warnings of poor performance in relation to cleaning specification notice will be given to the contract cleaner to terminate the service Cleaning Specifications: These specifications are for all Council owned and operated Education and Care s and any Ancillary Services to those Education and Care s a) Entrance 1. Sweep and wet mop floor - daily 2. Remove gum and stains - daily 3. Spot clean entrance doors - daily 4. Wash clean entrance doors - daily 5. Sweep clean the footpath areas and remove footpath litter - daily 6. Shake door mat free of grit - daily 7. Spot clean walls and door jams - weekly b) Office and Child Care Area 3. Vacuum carpet floors throughout the premises - daily 6. Damp wipe uncluttered desks - daily 7. Dust and damp wipe all other furniture - weekly 8. Dust and damp wipe window ledges throughout centre - weekly 9. Spot clean internal glass and mirrors - daily 10. Spot clean walls, light switches and door jams - weekly 11. Sweep, wet mop and machine-buff vinyl floor to high finish - daily 12. High dust - monthly 13. Clean and dust children s storage box areas - daily 14. Empty and clean waste bins and replace liners - daily 15. Spot clean walls around waste bin daily 16. Sanitise clean all waste bins - weekly 17. Full squeegee clean all internal glass and mirrors - weekly c) Verandas 1. Sweep clean all verandas Monday, Wednesday and Friday Page 2 of 5

Buff floors to high shine - weekly 5. Clean cabinet tops - daily 6. Wipe clean sink and fixtures - daily 7. Spot clean walls and door-jams weekly 8. Move fridge and freezer out from wall and clean beneath, beside and behind monthly 9. Clean all stoves, fridges, microwaves etc - fortnightly e) Bathrooms - Staff and Children 1. Sweep and wet mop floors with disinfectant - daily 2. Wash toilets - daily 3. Wipe and clean sinks - daily 4. Clean hand dryer unit - daily 5. Clean window sills and scrub clean showers - weekly 6. Empty and clean waste bin and reline daily 7. Sanitise waste bins weekly 8. Sanitise all toilets daily 9. Check and replenish toilet paper, soap and hand towels (supplied by Council) daily 10. Check stocks of toilet paper, soap and hand towels and inform the Director if new stock is required weekly f) Laundry 1. Sweep and mop floor - daily 2. Clean and disinfect sink and fittings - daily 3. Damp dust all cupboards, sills, skirtings and fittings below a height of two (2) metres weekly g) Staff Room 6.
