2 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FORMAT MOORINGS Offshore Race including a gate and Pursuit Bay Race. Moorings will be allocated on a first entry first serve basis. Yachts will be required to raft up. One week free berthing will be available after the event for those who have sailed at least one of the races. Price per Ticket R50.00 Complimentary prize giving supper and party tickets will be included in the skippers packs according to crew numbers paid for. Additional (Price R80.00) tickets may be purchased at registration. Regatta packs will be issued at Registration on Thursday 24 th February 2011 from 16h00 18h00. Limited parking is available at the Marina. On the Terrace at Club Mykonos, Saturday, 26 th February 2011 at approximately 18h30 There will be trophies awarded for the IRC Fleet and Club Fleet. There will also be a first prize for each class that has 5 or more starters. Other prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the Race Committee based on the entries received. ORGANISING AUTHORITY Royal Cape Yacht Club in conjunction with Club Mykonos under the sanction and authority of South African Sailing Western Cape. 2. RULES Save where these are altered by this Notice of Regatta and the Sailing Instructions, races will be governed by the International Sailing Federation Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), SAS/SAMSA Safety Regulations minimum Category C Race 1 and Category D Bay Races; the Class Rules of participating Classes; The IRC Rules, parts 1,2&3. The Notice of Race, the Sailing Instructions and any Amendments thereof. Where relevant, precedence shall be given in the reverse order of the above listing. In the event of contradictions, the interpretations of the Protest Committee shall be final and binding upon all participants 3. ADVERTISING The Regatta will be classified as a Category C event in terms of 2010/12 ISAF Regulations Appendix 2010/2011, which shall only apply while racing. House Flags, Banners and Sail Covers, which show advertising, shall not be worn when racing. 4. The entry fee is R per YACHT, plus R per person (inclusive of Skipper). For those entering the Bay Pursuit race only, the entry fee is R per yacht plus R50.00 per person, (inclusive of Skipper). Late entries are not guaranteed complete Regatta Packs. For yachts participating in Race 1 - Race 3 (Cape Town to Club Mykonos), the attached Safety Declaration must be completed in full and signed by the skipper and his appointed crewmember. SAILS 5.1 Race 1-3: Yachts with a RORC (IRC) Safety and Stability Screening numeral of 20 or greater, Including maximum adjustment, unless exempted by the Race Committee The Skipper in command shall hold no less than a SA Sailing Local Waters Certificate with Night Endorsement. 5.2 Race 4 (Bay Race): All yachts considered acceptable to the Race Committee as indicated in Paragraph 8 below. 5.3 Any class of yacht recognised by the Race Committee as a class, having 5 or more starters, shall constitute a class. 5.4 Competitors shall comply with the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) eligibility requirement in accordance with 2005 ISAF Regulation 19 & RRS 75 which requires that all competitors (helmspersons and all other crew) shall be members in good standing of a Yacht Club affiliated to and in good standing with SA Sailing or their Member National Authority in the case of non-south Africans. The Yacht Club name and membership details shall be stated on the entry form. Current valid South African Sailing Membership Cards shall be presented at Registration. 1. IRC, Club and Cruising Fleet Crew maximum numbers are limited to the number as stated on the yacht s COF (Certificate Of Fitness). 1. IRC boats are permitted to carry one extra spinnaker to what is stated on their endorsed IRC Certificate. 8. FLEET CATEGORIES - Club Fleet Fleet split will be available on the 19 th February IRC Fleet Fleet split will be available on the 19 th February Multi Hull Fleet Fleet split will be available on the 19 th February 2011 The Race Committee reserves the right to: 9. COURSES *Subdivide or re-arrange the Classes dependent on entries *To re-arrange start groups, starting orders, times and courses *To make the final decision as to which Class a boat sails in. Four races only shall be sailed as follows: Race 1: Race 2: Table Bay to a boat anchored off Dassen Island Lighthouse will be known as a scoring gate Dassen Island scoring gate to a mark layed off Club Mykonos Harbour Wall. (Please note that there will be no restart at Dassen Island). Page 4 of 6

5 Race 3: Race 4: Cape Town to Club Mykonos A pursuit race off Club Mykonos (please refer to the Sailing Instructions) 10. START Race 1-3: Class 2: Table Bay 08h30, Friday, 25 th February 2011 Class 1: Table Bay 09h00, Friday, 25 th February 2011 The start will be between the Royal Cape Yacht Club Bridge Hut and No.10 Harbour buoy (starboard) Any change will be advised on the Notice Board by 07h30 on Friday, 25 th February 2011 and on VHF Channel 6 from the Bridge. (These changes may include a short beat to the Paarden Island buoy). Race 4: Club Mykonos, Saturday, 26 th February 2011 will be a Pursuit Race. Race 4 will start at approx 10h30 (please refer to the Sailing Instructions for the course). 11. HANDICAP SYSTEM, RACE RESULTS & SCORING Scoring for the series shall be in accordance with the RRS Appendix A4 Low Point scoring system Club Fleet Handicap All races will score equal points. There will be one discard after four races have been completed. IRC Results will be calculated using the IRC TCC Factor. Placing will be in order of corrected time. RCYC CLUB HANDICAP Results will be calculated using the RRD Handicap System. Any yacht that has changed its sail or hull measurements since the issue of its Club Rating must submit a new RRD (Royal Cape Ratings Division Handicap System) Club Handicap application form. RRD applications will close on Monday the 21 st February For RRD enquiries rrd@rcyc.co.za. The Race Committee reserves the right to correct any errors at any time during the Regatta. A list of yachts entered and their ratings will be posted on the Notice board before 16h00 on Thursday 24 th February REGISTRATION Registration will take place between 16h00 and 18h00 on Thursday 24 th February 2011 in the Main Hall. Regatta packs will be issued at Registration on Thursday 24 th February from 16h00. South African Sailing Membership Cards and or numbers are to be produced at registration see Para. 6 Eligibility above. 13 SKIPPERS BRIEFING The Skippers Briefing will be held in the Main Hall RCYC at 18h00 on Thursday 24 th February SAFETY & SCRUTINY It shall be the responsibility of the skipper and an appointed member of his crew to inspect his boat for compliance with the Safety regulations of this Regatta, the rules and regulations of the IRC Rules, the Safety Declaration form must be signed and handed to the Race Secretary by not later than Thursday, 24 th February A random selection of boats will be identified for safety inspections to take place after Registration on Thursday 24 th February and also at Club Mykonos after all the races. The owner and appointed crewmember should be available to accompany the scrutineer to the boat and to assist with the inspection. Any skippers wishing to have their boat scrutinized at an earlier time can contact Harry Brehm (Cell ). Page 5 of 6

6 15. LIABILITY Competitors sail entirely at their own risk. The onus on whether to start a race and to continue a race lies entirely with the skipper of the competing yacht. None of the organizations or persons concerned in the running of the Regatta accept any liability for damage or injury, material or personal, suffered during the races or at any other time however arising. Each competing boat shall be adequately insured with Third Party and Passenger Liability cover. 16. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS Sailing Instructions will be available from 16h00 on Thursday 24 th February 2011 at the Race Secretary s Office at Royal Cape Yacht Club, and will be posted on the Royal Cape Yacht Club website address: TROPHIES & PRIZES There will be trophies awarded for the IRC Fleet 1 & 2 and the Club Handicap Fleet. There will also be a first prize for each class that has 5 or more starters. Other prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the Race Committee based on the entries received. The Prize Giving will be held on the Terrace at Club Mykonos, Saturday 26 th February 2011 at approximately 18h ERRORS AND OMISSIONS On good cause, the Organizing Committee reserves the right to amend any of the paragraphs of this Notice of Race, subject to adequate notice being given via amendment.
