25 Eligible expenditures Investment costs or Wage costs of ownership/ perpetual usufruct of land of material assets (e.g. machinery)- in case of other than MSE it must be new of intangible assets by the transfer of technology through the acquisition of patent rights, licenses, know-how or unpatented technical knowledge (for large companies eligible only up to a limit of 50 % of the total eligible investment expenditure for the project) of rent of land and buildings (must continue for at least 5 years or 3 years SME, after completion of the project) of rent of assets other than land and building - only in the form of financial leasing with obligation to buy an asset after its term of lease wage costs of a newly employed person calculated over a period of 2 years (comprising of the gross wage, before tax, and the compulsory social security contributions) newly employed mean employees hired after receiving a permit, but no longer than 3 years after completion of the project job creation means a net increase in the number of employees directly employed compared with the average over the previous 12 months

27 Special Economic Zones A special economic zone (SEZ) is a designated area in which manufacturing or distribution activities can be conducted on preferential terms The purpose of SEZs is to support regional development Currently, there are 14 SEZs in Poland, each consisting of several subzones Total area of all SEZ hectares SEZ will operate until 2020 Permits to conduct activities in SEZ are issued by the authorities of each SEZ Minimum investment: EUR 100,000 Possibility of including the land selected by an investor into SEZ Benefits from obtaining a permit to conduct activities in SEZ : eligibility for income tax exemption a form of regional aid plot of land prepared for an investment project, available at a competitive price free assistance in dealing with formalities relating to the investment project

35 Subsidies for staff development Increasing employment and adaptability of enterprises and their employees, as well as upgrading the general level of education, reducing areas of social exclusion and supporting the development of administrative structures of the state. 36 General conditions of benefiting from regional aid The application for aid has to be submitted before work on the project starts The beneficiary of aid must provide a financial contribution of at least 25% of the eligible costs The investment has to be maintained for at least 5 years from the date of its completion (3 years in case of SMEs) Each newly created job has to be maintained for a period of at least 5 years from the date of its creation (3 years in case of SMEs) It is possible to combine various forms of regional aid however the total aid amount cannot exceed the admissible level
