2 Installation Procedures STEP 1: Requirements checklist 1. SMS-3000 version 3.3 or greater is currently installed and operational. 2. This installation is designed to support: a) Microsoft Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 3. b) SQL Server 2000 Service Pack 3. STEP 2: Installation 1. Insert APM CD into CDROM drive. 2. The APM setup should start automatically, if not then locate on cdrom drive and double click on setup.exe file. 3. Follow the directions on the screen.

3 STEP 3: Setup Active Pager Service Screen: SERVICE Manager Warning! Menu: Start -> Programs -> Square D Engineered Solutions-> Active Pager Services Setup Description: This message box appears anytime the Active Pager Services Setup is requested to run. It provides a warning to the operator to shutdown the Active Pager software before making any changes to the Service Manager utility. When the operator clicks the OK button, it will prompt the Active Pager Logout screen. The operator can then logout and go directly into the Service Manager utility. Steps for user selections: None. Screen: Service Manager Menu: Start -> Programs -> Square D Engineered Solutions-> Active Pager Services Setup Description: The Service Manager dialog box is the default screen for creating and editing configurations for the paging services being used by the Active Pager software. Steps for user selections: None.

4 Screen: General Menu: Start -> Programs -> Square D Engineered Solutions-> Active Pager Services Setup -> Create Service Description: The Create Service dialog box allows the operator to create a new service to be used for their specific pagers. Steps for user selections: Name: Enter the service provider for the pagers being used with Active Pager. Protocol type: TAP is the typical protocol used with most paging services. For information on used protocol, refer to the Protocol Info button details. Next: Advances the operator to the next service setup window. Screen: Services Menu: Services -> Create Service or Edit Service Description: The General tab is populated with the information entered in the new service dialog box.

5 Screen: Services Menu: Services -> Create Service or Edit Service -> Additional Description: The Additional tab holds the service dialing connection information. Steps for user selections: Number for dial-up terminal: The paging service number Active Pager must dial for paging. Number of messages the carrier accepts at once: This allows multiple alarms to be sent during a single connection to the paging service. Screen: Services Menu: Services -> Create Service or Edit Service -> Type Description: Selects the type of pager used. Alphanumeric is required for messaging from SMS. Used defaults for other fields.

6 Screen: Services Menu: Services -> Create Service or Edit Service -> Country code Description: Use only if paging service is required to make pages to international systems. Screen: Services Menu: Services -> Create Service or Edit Service -> Terminal Description: Selects the modem configuration for the carrier s dial-up terminal. Most carrier s use 7E1 or 8N1. However other set-up options are selectable, yet not recommended.

7 Screen: Message-Master Configuration Menu: Services -> Configure Description: The Message-Master Configuration dialog boxes provide direct configuration of the modem utilities for connection to the paging service. All configuration fields are accessible through other dialog boxes and set-up utilities. It is recommended no changes be made for these tabs. Click on From file button and browse for Services.inf file in Active Pager Module directory to import services information from a file.

9 STEP 4: Setup Active Pager Module 1. Run Active Pager Services Setup. (Refer to Active Pager Module Manual) 2. Run PowerLogic Active Pager Module. 3. On first Active Pager Module application start up, the user will be asked to login with administrative SQL server username and password, usually username is sa and password is blank. If you are experiencing a problem with SQL server username login, contact your System Administrator for correct SQL server administrative login username and password. 4. Skip STEP 4a if ActivePager SQL database was successfully created. STEP 4a: (if ActivePager SQL Server database does not get created automatically): 1. Open Enterprise Manager. Drill down to SQL Server Group>(server name)>databases. Right click on Databases folder where the SMS_System database is located and create new SQL database ActivePager. 2. Open Security folder and select Logins. a) In the right pane window right click on SMS_DB_Master login and select Properties. b) Click on Database Access tab. c) Find and select ActivePager database in the top window and check Permit option for this database. d) Select the following roles for the ActivePager database in the bottom window: public and db_owner. e) Click on OK and close Enterprise Manager. 3. Open Query Analyzer. Select ActivePager database from the dropdown listbox. Go to File>Open apm.sql script file, which can be found in Active Pager Module application directory. Run/Execute queries (F5). Make sure everything was successfully created. Close Query Analyzer. 4. Modify apm.ini file s line ActivePagerSQLDBInstalled=0,0,0 to ActivePagerSQLDBInstalled=1,1,1. Close file and Save changes. (The file can be found in Active Pager Module application directory.) 5. Start up Active Pager Module application and refer to Active Pager Module Manual for its setup.

12 Active Pager Module Menu Summary File Sync Pager DB to SMS DB Synchronizing Paging Functions to SMS Functions, Groups Purge Alarms Data and Sync Purge ALL ALARMS settings from Pager s Database and default ALL ALARMS to Active. All of the alarms will have to be setup over again from Setup -> System -> Functions Tab. Disable Paging / Enable Paging Disable or Enable Paging. When Disable Paging initiated this action will remove all outgoing messages from the PowerLogic Active Pager Module component s queue Remove All Messages Remove all outgoing messages from the Message Master component s queue. This action is used when there is no need for the rest of all outgoing messages to be paged. 15 Active Pager Module System Setup Communication Loss Select SMS Devices to be paged on Communication Loss Event (To disable Comms. Loss paging uncheck option Page on Device Comms. Loss under Alarm Conditions Tab) Functions Setup SMS Onboard, Analog and Digital Functions to be paged on. All Functions are setup for paging by default. Each function can be setup for function delay. If the function was setup for any time greater than zero, paging for all of the alarms following this alarm will be delayed by the time delay setup for this function

16 Groups Setup Custom Paging Groups for Users. (Custom Groups are selected in Users Setup) Users Add Users to Active Pager Module. Select Alarm Notification Option: Modem, to Pager Service and/or to Business address. Service Name is setup in the separate Active Pager Services Setup program. User s Order can be rearranged by performing the following steps: Select the user name in the list box Select the Paging Order below the List of the Users Click on Save button

17 Schedules Setup User s paging Schedule. User may have multiple paging schedules. Test To enable ing capability, Mail Server Name/IP Address and From address has to be specified in Configuration Settings. Also Test can be performed at the same time.

18 Pager Test To make sure that users pagers are setup for alphanumeric paging, pager test has to be performed by sending a custom alphanumeric message to pager users. Relay Alarm This feature using PLDataControl to control Relay Output on Circuit Monitors to notify user in case of any alarm. Select Circuit Monitor and its Relay Output to alarm.

19 Diagnostics System: Show COM Servers Debug Screens for debugging purposes (administrative) Restart COM Servers in hours ActiveX Components are restarted at the specified time Page on Polling Error Users will get a page in case of any database connection problems Login on Setup enable LOGIN option on System Setup. Event Log: FIFO Event Log at. Events will FIFO Event LOG at specified events number Log Paging Summary into PageInfo.log file all paging information will be logged into PageInfo.file in Active Pager Module installation directory. Log Alarms Not Setup for Paging log information about alarms that weren t setup for paging. Log Startup and Shutdown of Pager Application log information about the startup and shutdown of APM application Log Alarms Not Paged On while Device is in Maintenance Mode log information about alarms from Devices in the Maintenance Mode. Other: Auto Enable New SMS Alarms check this option to make all alarms setup in sms to be setup as active in Active Pager Module. Enable Device Maintenance Mode Paging if enabled, each received function will be checked to see if its Device is in the maintenance mode, if it s true than the alarm/function will be ignored.

20 Pager Parameters Disable Pager: Disable Paging enables Turn Paging Back On option, where appropriate date and time has to be selected for paging to be disabled until the time selected. Pager Setup: Enable Paging Delay for Individual User if enabled, then this option will have to be setup in Users Tab per each active User. Delays Paging for specified minutes period. Delay between paging same person if greater than zerio, then the pager will page on the first alarm and then wait for a specified period of time before paging the same person again. During the delay all of the alarms for that user will be ignored. Attempts for resending messages in error cases in error cases, pager will retry to send message at specified number of attempts Timeout for modem devices this option recommended to be set at no less than 4 seconds.

21 Alarm Conditions Select on which Alarm Conditions users need to be paged on. Database Properties View SMS and Active Pager database properties (administrative).

22 Message Setup Message Setup: Customize message by showing all or some of the alarm information. Message Delivery Options: specific. This is an option to deliver Alarm Message in the Subject and/or the Text Body Areas. The optional Custom Text will be added to NOT SELECTED option area.
