It is important that the fire fighter become familiar with the various types of ladders and their appropriate uses as fireground tools. 5 SUMMARY: No single type of ground ladder meets all fire service needs. The number of types varies from five to seven depending on how one classifies variations of the two types. We have discussed six basic ladders in considerable detail. These are single, roof, folding, extension, pole, and combination. It is important that the fire fighter be thoroughly familiar with these ladders. EVALUATION: The student will complete the written test at a time determined by the instructor.
