2 Thank you for purchasing the OSCILLATAP sieve shaker. You and your company will enjoy many years of use from this quality testing system. The Oscillatap sieve shaker has the ability to accommodate a variety of sieves from 3 inches all the way up to 12 inches in diameter or metric equivalent. INSTALLATION Oscillatap shaker has been shipped complete and ready for operation. It is recommended that the base be properly fastened to a ridged platform, or on the floor, using bolts or fasteners of sufficient size. Plug power cord into the appropriate grounded receptacle. 3 OPERATION Select the sieves with the appropriate mesh sizes that are to be used and stack them together beginning with a pan on the bottom. Then the fine sieve followed by increasing coarser sieves with the coarsest top. Adjust the four centering posts on the sieve cradle, to accommodate the size of sieve diameter to be used. Using a 7/16 wrench on bottom bolts and 3/8 wrench on posts. Move posts to the inner slots for 3 to 5 inch sieves and the other holes for 8, 10 and 12 sieves or equivalent in metric. It may be beneficial to use a sieve pan for easy alignment. Once the centering posts have been adjusted for the size of sieve diameter needed for testing. Place the stack of sieves in the shaker. Cover the top sieve so that the stack can be easily secured in the shaker. Secure the stack with the sieve hold-down bar on the top of the stack and tighten using fastener knobs on each side. Turn knobs until sufficient force has been applied to keep the nest in place while test is being performed. The sieve hold down bar can be swung out of the way for quick loading/unloading. Shaker is now loaded and ready for testing. Your shaker has been equipped with a 30 minute timer. Turning the timer will start the shaker immediately, adjust timer for desired length of time. The shaker will stop once the desired amount of time has run out. Note: When loading nests of sieves, that are less than the amount previously selected, use a filler sieve on top of nest to accommodate space, and therefore less adjustment is needed for hold down mechanism, and will save time. Caution! Sieve shaker has several pinch points! Keep hands and loose clothing away from moving parts while the machine is in operation. 5 TAPPER IMPACT ADJUSTMENT Tapper impact can be adjusted by shortening or lengthening the distance between the cradle and the crosshead. Shortening the distance creates a larger impact and lengthening lessens the impact. Note: Shaker was adjusted at factory and should not require adjustment. But if necessary adjustment is as follows: 1. Disconnect power to the shaker. 2. Remove back cover/guard. 3. Rotate large pulley until crosshead is at its lowest position or at the bottom of its stroke. 4. Loosen and adjust the nuts/fasteners on the threaded rods at the cradle. Keep the distance even from one side to the other using a ruler. Factory setting is 33 inches from the top of the cradle to the top of the crosshead. 5. Once adjustment has been completed, rotate the pulley one cycle to check for desired tapper impact. 6. Reinstall back cover/guard. Caution: make sure the distance is not too short between the crosshead and cradle. If distance is too short, this will cause the crosshead to bottom out on the crosshead guide bushing. Therefore pulling down on the upper guide bar and causing catastrophic damage to the shaker when in operation.

6 MAINTENANCE 1. Disconnect power before servicing. 2. Clean shaker periodically. 3. Grease cam shaft periodically depending upon usage. 4. Oil tapper bushing regularly. 5. Periodically, check and adjust fasteners for tightness. 6. Belt should be checked for tightness and wear. A worn or loose belt will cause the shaker to perform poorly. Replace belt if worn and adjust tightness. RPM of shaker should be 215 +/- 5%. WARRANTY For one full year from date of purchase, manufacturer will free of charge replace any parts and provide mechanical service necessary for proper operation, except for normal maintenance. If shaker has been misused/altered or improperly maintained, warranty is void and null. Warranty service is available by returning shaker to manufacturer. Purchaser is responsible for transportation charges.
