1 Strange Earth Energies on Gower, Grace Edgar, December 2014 What is it? There is an unusual peninsula on the South of Wales Gower. Strange atmosphere has been observed there. Some people like it, some don t. To me it seems like Gower is cut off from the world, very much contained in itself, and slightly quaint with a strong possibility of faeries. It is the first UK's first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), established in The prominent feature of the peninsula, albeit not for tourists who gather at her lovely beaches, is the King Arthur s Stone (SS491906) seated on the crest of Gower, Cefn Bryn. Standing there you can observe the sea on both sides. Wikipedia describes this place so: Cefn Bryn is an ancient ridge in Britain. It is a 5 mile long Old Red Sandstone ridge in South Wales. The highest point on the ridge (188m/617 ft) offers panoramic views of the surrounding country and seas. The swathes of grassland around the ridge are known as Cefn Bryn Common. i King Arthur s Stone is more than a standing stone and less than a cairn. It consists of a huge rectangular boulder in the middle of a circular trench 18 m diameter; the boulder is standing on 9 small chunky stones (less than 0.5 m high); and the inside of the trench is seeded with small stones; there is also a tabular stone lying on the South side of the Stone, with a hollow big enough for a human head. Originally the Stone was 2 m high, 4 m wide and its thickness is varied: about 1.5 m on North side and 0.5 m on the South side. The Stone s shape could be compared with a cone or a wedge lying on its side and pointing towards the South. But now it is split in two (almost) equal parts, and one part is still in its original position, and the second is lying down like a table. There is no capstone.

3 106 m from the Stone to the West, there is a circular structure 16m across. It is filled with small almost circular stones from 0.1m to 0.4m across just large enough to carry by hand - and it is only 0.5m high. It is described as a burial cairn ii. There are also other parts of this complex system. To the North of the burial cairn, there are two small stone circles, much smaller than the cairn, about 6m across. The first one has four wedges on its diameter, filled with stones, or four entrances; the second one is all filled up with stones. Then 100m further down North there is what seems to be a large stone circle 75m across, and its East side has a squashed radius, exactly half size of the radius of the West side: 25m to 50m; and it is also squashed on the South side by about 10m. This creates an oval shape, approximately 75m long and 60m wide. There are a very few stones remaining there. Also 500m to the West of the burial cairn, there is another stone circle/burial cairn 13m across, also with very few stones remaining. Burial cairn picture 3

6 Earth Energies There is a lot happening energetically around the Stone: there are 11 underground water lines, all running towards the Stone; and there are 11 Earth energy lines also running towards the Stone. The energy streams are not the same as water streams but 7 of them correspond /overlap with water streams: this creates a level of difficulty in measuring both kinds of lines. The water streams are between 1 or 2 m wide, with one large 4m wide, the energy lines are much narrower. Additionally & surprisingly, there are also two large Earth energy streams running away from the Stone, measuring 0.7m at the Stone and 4.3m when measured 10m away from the outer circle in which the Stone is seated. One is running West towards & through the burial cairn, and it is so strong that I and a few others were able to feel it by hand. Apart from the width, it has substantial height above the ground. This is a great place for a beginner dowser to feel/dowse Earth Energy! The second one is running North with similar dimensions and strength.

Having observed, measured, photographed and described this system, to the best of my abilities, with the help of Andrew, I found myself perplexed at the meaning and purpose of this place. Describing and photographing is not really satisfying if the meaning cannot be discovered. So using careful questioning and dowsing, I dated King Arthur s Stone and the burial cairn to 3300 bc that is when it was first used. This coincidentally agrees with E Whittle s book iii which I didn t know at the time of dating. I then established that there never was an additional capstone but there were 4 tall stones marking four directions standing around the Stone, 3.9m away from it. These stones were 1.8m tall. The Stone was not broken by people but by the weather, due to water accumulating in cracks and expanding into ice. Through dowsing I found out that the Stone split around 500 ad. The small space (0.5-1m deep) under the

8 Stone was used for burial rituals but it was never a burial cairn or mound. Then came the most interesting questions what was the purpose of King Arthur s Stone? Obviously the amount of labour to establish it was enormous, so it must have had an important purpose. Using dowsing I found out that the main purpose of the Stone was not ceremonial, neither was it used as a calendar, as a mark of the landscape for sailors or travellers, nor was it used to gather the underground water assuring the watering of the crops; finally it did not mark a special event. Rather, it was mainly used to help with the flow of energy on Gower: that is to keep this energy and the Gower intact, and to prevent it being washed away by the sea. The Stone holds this function still. But it hasn t got a connection to other similar stones on mainland Wales. This answer led me to ponder on how it was done, and two strong Earth energy stream coming out of the Stone came to mind. I found out that the West stream runs through the burial mount to the NW through Burry Green, Llanmadoc, crossing the sea and anchoring in Pembrey Park on the Welsh mainland, in the area above the lake that is there. The stream going to the North turned towards the East and was going through Penmaen, Pennard Castle, Pennard and ended up on the Mumbles Middle Head. When I looked at the map it seemed to me that this wide, bowed energy line, with King Arthur s Stone in the middle, looks very much like an anchor, holding on one end to the Wales mainland and on the other end to the strong rock in the South of Gower peninsula. This finding prompted me to investigate these two places. Strange Earth Energies on Gower! Firstly, I found Mumbles Middle Head to be a huge rock, maybe 20m high and 30m across, covered with low vegetation and ending on the South side with a sheer drop. Having found myself there I easily located the stream of Earth energy flying into it from the King Arthur s Stone and Penrise Castle, as it covered at least half of the rock: it was 4.5m wide at the entrance, further down it was 8m wide and it ran to the sheer drop where it spilled out to 13m. To my amazement there were no energy streams coming out of it so it meant it ended there! I felt slightly uneasy there, and asked if there was anything else for me to discover there I got a very definite yes for an answer! My pendulum led me to

9 the middle of the energy stream where I felt quite unwell. I decided that the best way to describe this energy was as disintegrating - I felt squeezed. Disintegrating energy is a known phenomenon occurring, for example, in compost heaps, but I never experienced it on this huge scale. I felt there were some deep processes going on in the body of this rock, which were not human friendly. Maybe this is why this site was surrounded by forbidding brambles coming to a person s height. A recent suicide confirmed my feelings. However the disintegrating energy does not mean negative and it can be useful for ending processes in our lives which are unproductive. But the most interesting experience was still waiting! I decided to measure magnetic orientation of this tiny site and to my amazement it was changeable! To make sure, I have measured this several times in several different points on this less than 40m square plateau. As you can see on the map, in some points on and around the disintegrating energy pointed to a different North than indicated behind the rock outside of the disintegrating energy area. The biggest change occurred at the centre of disintegrating area. There was no pattern in these disturbances, and on the second visit Andrew found it to be slightly different, apart from at the centre. Also the North was changeable within minutes. I wonder if anyone else has noticed the disturbances to the magnetic field caused by Earth Energies? I would love to hear about it.

11 The second arm of the Earth energy which was coming out of King Arthur s Stone run to Pembrey Park, to the area just above the lake. Of course I had to go there. I found the area and to my amazement it was opposite to the energy of Mumbles MH. This place was a quite regular oval area, about 15m wide, and 16m long, located maybe 20m from the lake. It was a meadow, surprisingly clearly marked by surrounding pine trees, fallen tree trunks, thick brambles and other undergrowth - these were not present inside. There were several deciduous trees inside the area, birches and possibly willows. This place had a very nourishing, benevolent, and open feeling. But as I found out through dowsing, it was not used by Druids. Wonderful nourishing Pembrey Park picture 10 Finally My overall picture so far is that the Earth energy lines hold down the Gower peninsula like an anchor, with one end in the hard rock of Mumbles Middle Head and the other in Pembrey Park on the Welsh mainland and with King Arthur s Stone sitting firmly in the middle. It supports the soil from weathering to the sea as well as it captures the energy which otherwise would have been spilled across the landscape.

12 Maybe that s why Gower has her own unique feel and atmosphere. But the question remains why is concentrated energy better than spilled?
