4 Cooperation between DTVE and OVEC, Thailand The aim of this cooperation is in order to develop programs for cooperation in technical vocational education and training on the basis of reciprocity and mutual benefit between two countries. Under mutually determined arrangements between TVET institutions of both countries; Collaboration and exchange on TVET curriculum development and implementation of quality assurance processes and standards; Accreditation of TVET certificates issued by the respective Parties; Direct Linkages between TVET institutions along the Thailand- Myanmar border, in areas such as personnel and student exchanges, curriculum development and staff training; Cooperation between DTVE and Singapore Government Both countries had established and managed the Singapore Myanmar Vocational Training Institute (SMVTI) in Yangon, Myanmar. To be qualified trainers of SMVTI, Singapore side will train the Myanmar vocational education trainers in Singapore as well as in Myanmar. SMVTI will conduct the four topics: Hospitality and Tourism; Electrical Skills and Electronic; Facilities Management; and Engineering Services to nurture the good and qualified trainees. After completion of training at the SMVTI, both countries will endorse the joint certificates issued to trainees. 4
5 Cooperation between Myanmar GIZ Indonesia The Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar delegation, and the Federal Republic of Germany, have collaborated in the development of technical education and training. The teachers from the teacher training institute in Myanmar are selected and sent to Indonesia for the training of teacher /trainers. Then Teachers/trainers from Indonesia also come to Myanmar as a coaching program to multiply the teacher training in Myanmar. As a result, we can implement programs for upgrading teachers qualification and skillfulness in vocational schools and training for the development of TVET sector. Key Challenges for Harmonisation Myanmar s TVET system faces key challenges in the following areas: Quality Industrial Linkage 5
