Smart Industry Agenda, Line of Action 3a STRENGTHENING the FOUNDATION KNOWLEDGE 6. Strengthen R&D to boost Fieldlabs. Part of the Fieldlabsis investing in research themes directly linked to the Fieldlabs. This happens through the top sectors. 7. Smart Industry research agenda. A long-term research agenda will be set up in cooperation with universities, TO2, STW and NOW and others.

Engineering Sciences for Smart Industry Data management, big data and pattern recognition Multi-scale modeling techniques Self-learning techniques Computer technology and software development Information and communication technologies Distributed networking ( cloud computing ) Human interfacing, industrial design Embedded systems research control engineering, process control Advanced manufacturing technologies Functional Materials

Mathematics and Natural Sciences for Smart Industry Materials science, including soft and biological matter Applied mathematics, computational science, mathematical modelling Advanced instrumentation for (massive) data handling and storage Fluid dynamics and non-newtonian mechanics Functional materials, interface physics and catalysis Nanotechnology, MEMS/NEMS, characterization and manipulation at the nano-scale

Behavioral Sciences for Smart Industry How adaptive are humans to having robots as a colleague? How does human behavior change in the vicinity of human-like automated machines? How does robotisationaffect production and motivation of skilled workers? How do we train new generations for jobs that are unknown as we train them? Can we predict skills needed? How to adjust the workplace with respect to an ageing workforce How to flexibly prepare the changing workforce by robot-supported work?

Humanities for Smart Industry How can we sustain the capability of workers to adapt to a fast moving and dynamic environment where creative skills and lifelong learning seem indispensable. What about open access and ownership of information, data streams, identity and privacy in a new industrial context? What will the loss of traditional jobs mean for society and how do the working class heroes of the future look like? What are the effects of new production methods and new materials on urban region planning, smart cities and architecture? How can we contextualise the development of Smart Industries in a social, cultural and historic context?..

Smart Industry Agenda, Line of Action 3b STRENGTHENING the FOUNDATION SKILLS 8. Human capital development within companies. Together with companies and employees actions are carried out in the field of workersflexibility and task rotation. There are also courses to promote sustainable employability. 9. Regional approach to connect business and schools. To match the needs of companies and offer of schools Smart Industry research lectures are set up and modular education blocks offered. 10.Learn without interruption. The relevant educational programs of primary education to scientific education and dual education are adapted to the needs of Smart Industry in the future. 11.Social innovation. There will be a social innovation action programme aimed at Smart Industry to equip the organisation and the employee of the future for Smart Industry in the future.
