1 Great Aussie Camp Out Weekend Itiniery Saturday 10 th October 2015 Sunday 11 th October PM Arrive at Belanglo Staging Area & Orientation to camping and Biloela BYO Picnic Lunch 2.00 PM Optional Activities: Flying Fox or Canoeing Breakfast Hot or cold option 9.30 AM Optional Activities: Abseil Lunch PM Pack up Camp From 1.30 PM Depart 6.00 PM Campfire and evening meal Cost: $45 per adult, $20 per child (5 17 years) and children under 5 free. Includes food, activities & camping equipment (tents and sleeping mats if required). Please note age and size restrictions apply to Flying Fox, Canoeing and Abseiling. Meals: Dinner (camp oven meal), Breakfast (hot and cold options), Lunch (BBQ or wraps and fruit).
2 Directions to Biloela GACO 2015 Heading South on the Hume Highway (M31): Continue 5.8 kilometres past the Highway 89 Exit (Moss Vale & Berrima) on the Hume Highway. Continue past the exit for Golden Vale Road. Look out for a small sign to Belanglo State Forest on your left hand side, and turn right across the Highway. Gordon VC rest area is located just off Belanglo Rd on your right hand side. Please note: If you reach the Canyonleigh exit and McDonalds Rest Area you have gone too far and will need to turn around. Heading North on the Hume Highway (M31): Continue 6.2 kilometres past the Illawarra Highway 48 Exit (Moss Vale, Wollongong & Canyonleigh) on the Hume Highway. Turn left at the Gordon VC Rest Area sign. Gordon VC rest area is located just off Belanglo Rd on your right hand side. Berrima Biloela Staging Area New Berrima M31 Gordon VC Rest Area From Gordon VC Rest Area to Biloela Staging Area: Veer left past the Gordon VC Rest Area and continue down the dirt road. This road is called Bunnigalore Road or Belanglo Road, continue along it for 5.3 kilometres. Turn right at Western Plantation Road. (Well signposted) Continue along Western Plantation Road for 2.9 kilometres to the intersection with Gum Tree Road and turn left. Continue 300m to the edge of the pines (now a clear cut) and turn right. The Biloela Staging Area is at the corner of the pine forest. 3 Clothing & Equipment List Your clothing and equipment needs to serve 4 basic functions: 1. Keep you warm 2. Keep you dry, or enable you to get wet during water activities 3. Be suitable for a range of weather conditions, including heat and cold 4. Offer skin some protection from exposure to both UV radiation Suggested Clothing 2 Thin woollen jumpers or fleece (1 for water activity) 1 pair shoes for water activities (old joggers or wetsuit booties). 1 set of thermals (top and bottom) underwear 2 shirts (long sleeves are good) 1 broad brimmed sunhat (cotton) 1 pair long pants Socks 1 pair shorts Bathers 1 Beanie Towel 1 Pair warm gloves Waterproof jacket Camping Equipment Campsites are unpowered Sleeping bag, Pillow & Liner (optional) Torch and battery and spare globe Plastic bowl, mug, fork & spoon and cup Water bottle. Cleaning kit (in plastic bag) - 1 scotchbrite, 4 Jex Pads, tea-towel (per family) Own tent and sleeping mat/air bed if preferred Camp chair, table and/or picnic rug Esky Day pack Personal stove to make hot drinks Personal Items Any personal medication e.g. Ventolin, allergy medication Toiletries - comb/brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, insect repellent Sunscreen and lip balm Food**: Picnic Lunch for Saturday, snacks, drinks etc. Personal 1st aid kit (e.g. bandaids, roller bandage, strapping tape and personal hygiene needs) **The Outdoor Education Group is a whole nut free organisation. Please assist us by not bringing nuts to this campout. Optional Camera Book Sporting equipment (kids bikes welcome) OEG equipment available for use: Sleeping Mats* Tents (3 person)* Activity equipment for provided activities *Please let us know if you would like to borrow these items.
4 Terms and Conditions PROGRAM INFORMATION - Biloela WHEN: Saturday 10 th and Sunday 11 th October, 2015 WHERE: Biloela Bush Camp ARRIVAL SATURDAY: 12.30pm onwards DEPARTURE SUNDAY: 3.00pm GETTING THERE: Biloela is best accessed by 4 x 4 but a normal family car can enter with care. The roads are unsealed and bumpy. Camping trailers are welcome if driven with care. Please note that there is only one way in and out of Biloela. PARKING: Ample parking can be found on site. Staff will assist if parking and directions down to the property. If you wish to leave your car at the Biloela Staging area in the State Forest then a member of the OEG team is available to shuttle you down to the campsite from 12.30pm on Saturday and to return you to your car on Sunday morning. Please note that cars are left unattended at your own risk. FACILITIES: Biloela - has 2 flushing toilets, drinking water and a BBQ. There are a couple of fixed open shelters (not recommended for camping) and plenty of open space for tents. There are no showers and no electricity on site. An emergency phone is situated with the camp manager. There is no rubbish collection facility on site so please take out everything you bring in. ACCESS TO WINGECARIBEE RIVER: The Wingecaribee River runs through the property and access to sit beside the river is an easy walk (wheelchair access is available with a degree of effort). Paddling in the river is undertaken at your own risk as there are no life guards on duty. WHAT S ON? OEG will be providing staff to run the canoeing, the flying fox and abseiling activities. Please note abseiling will involve a challenging 45 minute walk over rough ground to access the area. All technical equipment required will be provided, but you will need loose clothing and footwear that is enclosed. For canoeing you must be able to get wet and have covered feet, an old pair of runners is advisable. Very small children (under 5) may be restricted in the activities they can participate in due to size restrictions on safety equipment. Please check with the OEG contact to avoid disappointment. Time to enjoy the peace and quiet of the camp can be achieved if desired, a quiet sit by the river or under one of the many trees can be magical. There will be people to help with setting up your tents and camping site. MEALS: Dinner Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday will be provided (please bring own cup, bowl, plate & cutlery). The opportunity to make damper, toast marshmallows and drink hot chocolate around a camp fire will also be available. MEAL TIMES: Dinner 6pm (BBQ) Breakfast between 7.30am 8.30am (Hot and cold options) Lunch at 12.30pm (Wraps and fruit) WHAT TO BRING: Please refer to the Clothing and Equipment List. As this is an opportunity to get out camping it is advisable to leave behind all electronic devices such as ipods, ipads, MP3 s etc.
5 Terms and Conditions Terms and Conditions I confirm that I have read and understood the web page information provided for the Great Aussie Camp Out with OEG. I understand that I am responsible for accessing the property in a careful manner and under the advisement of OEG staff. In addition, I understand and agree that; 1. The registering adult below will act as the contact person for distributing all following information to all participating adults and under 18 participants, identified within this document. 2. All adult attendees are responsible for their own safety and that of any accompanying under 18 year old participants whilst on a GACO-OEG program (where OEG staff deliver specific activities, they will communicate relevant risk management expectations to participants) 3. Activities may change due to inclement weather and all adventure activities will be supervised by qualified OEG Instructor(s). 4. Up to three optional activities will be provided for all participants to part take in during the course of the GACO weekend. There will be qualified OEG instructors supervising these activities and specialist activity equipment will be provided. It is the responsibility of the named person below to be present for any participants under the age of 18 wishing to part take in these activities. 5. Permission is given for identified participants to participate in the optional activities on offer. It is the responsibility of the registering adult to inform OEG if this permission is not granted. 6. OEG reserves the right to postpone, cancel or modify the GACO program including activities, camp location and meals at short notice, in response to environmental conditions forecast and or received on the day of the program. 7. The management of medical and dietary needs of all participants listed below shall be the responsibility of each individual adult, and with respect to under 18 year old participants the responsibility of their accompanying guardians. OEG will endeavour to cater for identified dietary requirements identified below and will contact the registering adult if required to discuss menu options. 8. Attendees are responsible for the replacement of, or repair costs as deemed by OEG, of any OEG equipment that is lost or damaged whilst being used by the participants identified below. 9. A risk assessment is available for the GACO weekend upon request. 10. This is a family friendly event respectful behaviour and consideration of other campers is expected at all times Cancellation Policy: Should you wish to withdraw your booking, the following cancellation charges will apply: More than 2 weeks prior to event - full refund Less than 2 weeks prior to event - no refund
